I have this car for almost 3 years and it still runs great. Without any problems...
Comfortable and easy to ride. Only problem is those cars are really unstable in corners.

I used to have one of these. The gearboxes were terrible and it has to be the worst handling car I've ever been in!

yeah, its actually from 1994, and its a reeintroduction-to-the-british-market-commercial made by Publicis advertising agency from London.

This would have been later than the 1980s.
The Renault 19 was first made in 1988 but the one in this ad was the facelifted version which was first sold in about 1991 or 1992.
