The key to his philosophy is that the private federal reserve along with our other major banks has a stranglehold on our economy. Also, if you listen to Thomas Woods speeches, you would understand that periodic recessions are going to happen and are good in a free market system. He theorizes that the actual wealth is created in that recessionary period and it makes sense.
Bernanke gives us a history lesson on the creation of the Fed which we already know, talking about it being created to prevent periodic financial crises. If so, then they are not doing their job very well, don't ya think? Not only are there periodic crises but they are deeper and longer than ever. Bernanke and the Fed must be shut down. The financial markets now are more complex than ever, you cannot simply say that the Fed's been using the same excuse. Second, printing money is a perfect way to help the economy grow. Go read an economics textbook and understand money's role in increasing output. The whole reason why Greece is in so much shit is b/c it can't print it's own money.

Unfortunately the U.S. has been an errant buying nation for far too long, but I don't fault the citizens because if it's available and we've slowly integrated a way of life then why not buy as a means of rewarding a working lifestyle. We have however certainly gone over the top, but most of us weren't aware that buying was detrimental to long term economic security. Bottom line: We've been sold out by the government who have spent us into a crisis, and now we pay.

Last year Ron Paul's bill, H.R. 2755: Federal Reserve Board Abolition Act, introduced during the 110th congressional session, had no cosigners and was never passed into law. Hence at the end of that session, H.R. 2755 was cleared from the books. Ron Paul should be grilling the corrupt idiots in the 110th Congress. @Nikrou I agree, but I dont see Bernanke's ideas as being extreme at all, and while I like Ron Paul in comparison to Republicans (kind of like being the skinniest kid at fat camp), I think his ideas are pretty bad at times. He says in this video that he wants the market to dictate interest rates, but he has said before that he wants congress to have control over the fed, meaning congress dictates the interest rates.
I am pretty sure he wants the fed gone, perhaps having control over the fed is just a step for him towards that goal. I do think that what he says has merit in respect to low interest rates that caused the resent melt down and the "malinvestment" as ive recently found the austrian economist say. Any academic economics journal ive looked at puts the blame on the fed for "lose monetary policy for too long" so perhaps its better to leave the interest rates to the invisible hand of the market.

Cupcake, the Fed is just a quasi-full-blown private entity with all its members part of the private sector, a.k.a. bankers. That is a contradiction. The financial markets now are more complex than ever, you cannot simply say that the Fed's been using the same excuse. Second, printing money is a perfect way to help the economy grow. Go read an economics textbook and understand money's role in increasing output. The whole reason why Greece is in so much shit is b/c it can't print it's own money.

Ron Paul's an idiot. Seriously, he's got to understand that regulation is needed in certain places by the government. People should regulate government and the government should regulate markets too! Think about the financial system. It was the lack of regulation that caused it's collapse. All his philosophical bs is taking it too far. He's just got to know his basic economics.
Also, the business cycle is inevitable, but the fed can certainly exert its monetary ability to smooth it down.

@OneSteveUnderGod - news flash my government is basically hopeless.. i live in canada.. i follow the american politics much more because im a libertarian and the only real hope for my position is ron paul. Yes the government is a seperate entity with its own agenda but its not like the people aren't responsible for supporting it. Many people diapprove of the federal gov but it is evidently not enough.

@MrBitchesnHose Exactly, on election day, gather as many people as you can in a place where they can't vote. Count those people, compare to the official figures for total number of votes and number of people who didn't vote, then start causing trouble :) RP seems genuine enough. None of the other faggets in government have dared saying these things. He's definitely taking the black sheep position

@OneSteveUnderGod The biggest asset we all have, being unhappy with the way the system has been run up til now, is the power of not buying, and the power not to vote. Try and convince people to protest instead of voting for dimwits, convince the same people to stop buying things owned by major corporations (harder and harder to do now. thank globalization). Don't buy new cars, don't buy a new computer etc etc

@papapetad That's a good point. Unfortunately the U.S. has been an errant buying nation for far too long, but I don't fault the citizens because if it's available and we've slowly integrated a way of life then why not buy as a means of rewarding a working lifestyle. We have however certainly gone over the top, but most of us weren't aware that buying was detrimental to long term economic security. Bottom line: We've been sold out by the government who have spent us into a crisis, and now we pay.

Last year Ron Paul's bill, H.R. 2755: Federal Reserve Board Abolition Act, introduced during the 110th congressional session, had no cosigners and was never passed into law. Hence at the end of that session, H.R. 2755 was cleared from the books. Ron Paul should be grilling the corrupt idiots in the 110th Congress. @Nikrou I agree, but I dont see Bernanke's ideas as being extreme at all, and while I like Ron Paul in comparison to Republicans (kind of like being the skinniest kid at fat camp), I think his ideas are pretty bad at times. He says in this video that he wants the market to dictate interest rates, but he has said before that he wants congress to have control over the fed, meaning congress dictates the interest rates.

I am pretty sure he wants the fed gone, perhaps having control over the fed is just a step for him towards that goal. I do think that what he says has merit in respect to low interest rates that caused the resent melt down and the "malinvestment" as ive recently found the austrian economist say. Any academic economics journal ive looked at puts the blame on the fed for "lose monetary policy for too long" so perhaps its better to leave the interest rates to the invisible hand of the market.
