the guy was so doped up he cant remember a song hes been singing for god dam 7 years its all doc nicks fault. elvis would say he had pain in his back but in steaded of sending him to a chiropractor here take 7 different pills for one thing
so sad to see him having to read the words to a song he had previously performed hundreds of times. but he still had the voice, that golden voice. RIP, Elvis.
@johnjturner1 It's on a different one than that also. I haven't had time to look thru my stored away collection. Not trying to avoid you, just been busy. And, like you said, it was not a single. Just a studio album track.
@johnjturner1 Elvis did record this song on vinyl. I have it on an album of his. And I don't agree with S and G being better on this version. Not saying they weren't good on it, just Elvis was better. I agree with you about Parker. He was a carnival huckster.

Its a real shame that high graphics, alot of lights and smoke and mirrors have replaced ACTUAL MUSIC. As long as Elvis is still on youtube the younger generation will know the King started it all,
Fantastic upload Elvis sings this with as much passion as back in 1970 but meant a whole lot more to him in this 1977 performance .., great find and upload
This song is synonymous with EP. The tenderness in his voice and spirit comes through to perfection. And the words depict the man and his loving caring heart...caring for and supporting so many people throughout his life...and over that bridge the love came right back at him...so adored he was by friends, family, and fans. That's the bridge of EP...A bridge with a steady stream of giving and of love traveling both ways. Elvis was a bridge for music and people black and white and a bridge of love
endurance is what it is called and it ain't scary! it is why Elvis will forever be the king; because he was up there on the stage night after night! health problems aside! he had to please his fans; at least he never stopped doing that!
The scary thing about this footage, is that this was Elvis in his Final Days. I still can't understand how a man who had just 3 months to live was up on that stage & still able to perform the way he did & still capable of blowing the roof off the place when he felt like it. Interacting with his fans was truly the only thing that could motivate him by this point.
Airbusenzo made a great point.
Who has the ability today to mesmerize an audience with just a stage, band & spotlights like Elvis?
@Phoenix7878 He was the MAN!!!! I was 11 year's old when he died, and he alway's rocked the house !!! I feel so bad that not too many peep's were lookin out for him back in the day... Still Love Him and alway's will!!!!!
@Phoenix7878 Yes. And he was where he wanted to be...on stage. Sadly he was in much pain in the end and pain pills enabled him to get through his difficult last years. But ultimately the answer is that Elvis Presley was a very strong man, contrary to what some might believe. He actually needed strong sleeping pills his whole life for a very severe sleeping disorder rooted in losing his twin at birth. Few people know how traumatic that is but the twin bond is formed in utero. He endured a lot.
Simply... The GREATEST entertainer of all time, with a God given talent! He never stopped giving! We love you Elvis and always will! Thanks for posting this fabulous video! :)
It is so clear that Elvis is putting everything he had into this..to give the audience the very best he had to give.Thank you Elvis, because it was your deepest wish to give us your best and it is our great gift to have received it.
This was the 2nd night in Binghampton, NY (5-27-77). He was having sound difficulties & switched microphones. He had already stopped the show & this was the start of it again. So in true Elvis Fashion, he says "Let's try this son of a bitch!!"
This is not sad. This is a transition he had to make. It's what you feel, not always what you see. He poured every ounce of his being into those last shows. Something the ordinary person could only wish for;
@barthogeling : You may be a big fan, but your perception is distorted a bit. If this is not the Elvis you admire, then you're just like the average "tourists" that flock to Graceland to get an Elvis fly swatter etc. A true Elvis fan accepts & understands every aspect of his life. Whether it was '57 or '77, Elvis was Elvis & one was not greater than the other. He knew more than we think. People mistake his human side for weakness or sadness. He knew what he was doing the whole time!
@Phoenix7878: in matter of fact I never liked elvis in the last 2 years of his life, but I changed my mind about that. I had a chance to watch a lot of unseen footage and had to recon that the cbs special is not a reference to elvis in 77, he was really good, lets say in philly, or rochester, largo, cinci, indy etc. I saw all of this and elvis still owned the stage.
You nailed it man. The end was so crucial to the legacy of Elvis. We all got to see the human side of him. Beyond his appearance, was a person who was trying SO HARD to live up to his Image. I don't know how he got through it, especially his constant health problems. Major problems. That's why he really is The King. The performances, the magnetic presence & his earth shaking voice was..., dare I say Supernatural! If anyone wants to know the REAL Elvis, this is it.
Big performance by Elvis. The"End" is painfully near. Visited Graceland in 1993, saw Elvis` Uncle Vester [his dad`s brother] and sitting in the grounds on an easy chair with a nurse in attendance was his mum`s sister, Aunt Delta.
@richard52402 Hello Richie ... I heard somewhere that in the last footage of Indy, ELvis looks like he does not want to leave the stage, and shake hands and hugs with all his musicians and vocalist. Is that true ? Is that on youtube ? :)
I believe that a person "knows" when their time is nearing. Especially when it's someone the caliber of Elvis. Actually, he didn't take that much longer leaving the stage, but he did take some time to fool around with his "behind the scenes" guys & the sound guys, etc. I think in the back of his head, he had some degree of knowing this was it.
@LT1HILLINGHOE i agree with that too...it is more powerful.Elvis was as you say the best...okay he never wrote songs but he could sing anything and it would sound great.Missed so very much...
Listen to the version from his last concert in Indianapolis 6/26/77...INCREDIBLE...as was the entire show!! Larry Londin sat in for Ronnie Tutt for the last few shows of his final tour..good drummer but you can tell he was missing some of the usual fills. This version of "Bridge" is good...but again, take a listen to Indy. Maybe the last show of the tour gave him the added energy!
When he drops the Lyric sheet at 3:21 and bigins to just expose his Soul through his voice! Man its more Powerful than anything I have ever heard sung in the last 30 years!
In a way it is good to see how a great artist/singer/performer can still be remembered and admired more than 30 years later not for his good looks but simply by his unique talent...Sadly in today's music it is the good looks and image or dance moves that seems to matter when in reality and in the long run it is the voice, soul and character that a musician applies to a performance that determines the longevity and relevance of a song/artist to new generations...Are you listening Beyonce etc
I love to see him at the end. It shows the unbelievable drive & spirit this man had. I don't think there will ever be someone of that magnitude again. (not just musically, but globally.)
In my opinion, he never lost his good looks. He carried the excess weight rather well. Even when you could see him struggling & see illness in his face, he was still a handsome guy. That's rare.
@Phoenix7878 I agree with you totally. Elvis good looks were of such rare quality that you could slap on any out-fit that would otherwise be considered ridiculous for another person and it would look good on Him!!! And he did this without looking Laddy Gagga weird if you catch my drift!..I mean how many people can wear a Jumpsuit and look good? Mick Jagger and others have tried it but I dare say no one said they looked good.
@Phoenix7878 When someone coments to me that Elvis looked bad at the end of his life, I say that even at the end of his life, looked better than the person that critisised his looks at that time.
@Airbusenzo so true now a days all you need is half good looks, a good choreagrapher and someone to write a dance song and your in... There really are no true artists or artistic talent any more. The entertainers of the past were the and are the best. Theirl a bunch of spoiled brats now They didint really have to work to break in the business the way Elvis, Martin, Sinatra, ect did And these days the word SUPERSTAR is way over used and wasted
Today's "stars" only have looks and when that's gone so is their appeal and drawing power. Elvis had it all! And when his looks weren't quite what they used to be ie. he gained weight- He still could pack em' in and en thrall his audience with the sheer majesty and power of his voice. Elvis was more than just handsome he had a great talent: his voice and spirit.
Totally agree. He is still beautiful no matter how he looks, because he is a beautiful soul with a tremendously generous and tender heart! That's the essence that endears him to millions of his fans.
how can anyone compare big E to any other music star out there sorry nothing compares to him and he has been dead over 30 years and still selling records like a mad man that is ever lasting power good sent him and i praise that man i hope when i die i can see him in person or spirt what ever it would be one thing i would love to do god bless elvis and thanks for all the good music by the way great video thank you
theres been good singers about but most are messed about with in recording studios to make them sound better but with elvis he can sing perfect live without any tweaking and could out perform anyone what a legend!
great version never seen b4 ... he was so ill and yet he pulls great songs like this out of the bag ... what a voice ... when in 1977 was it recorded ?
It's funny you never see these clips on TV. I guess cause there grainy and he was out of shape at the time. To me though his singing voice is the most amazing thing about him.
Um cantor de apenas 42 anos ter que ler a letra de uma canção que ele sabia de cor, dói no coração. Elvis viverá para sempre, é o maior cantor de todos os tempos, sem dúvidda, o mais marcante.
My dad got the chance to see elvis's last show in indiana. He went with my grandparents... They bought upper upper deck seats and some guy who had to leave gave them front row tickets to the show. and when elvis left they got to go backstage and meet him.
eddiedoornbos: Thanks so much for uploading this. I can be having a bad day and anytime I listen to or see Elvis it makes me feel so much better. Another powerful and moving performance that hypnotizes you with it´s majesty. When he sings: ,and Pain is all around´ you know itś not just words he understands and knows what it means heś living through the song. Their will NEVER be another. God bless you Elvis. We all love you.
i would like to dedicate this to my brother "DUKE" Daniel Fitzgerald of the International Hotel it was the greatest of times my 1st and only time seeing E from Kings Row in the showroom and after to the coffee shop where my brother worked for ove 20 years. I was a fan the very moment ELvis came to the stage I had fallen asleep through the opening comedian...I SWEAR TO GOT THE ELECTRICITY IN THE AIR WAS UNDESCRIBABLE...TAKE CARE DAN LOVE YOURBRO ROBERT
So here we have the GREATEST Entertainer/Performer of all-time, and he has to read the words. SO WHAT?! You might think about cutting "The King" a little slack! Elvis: We love you and miss you.
Yes ive heard that Shaun Klush is good but i personally am not a fan of tribute artists/impersonators!..if i want to watch Elvis ill put Thats tbe way it is or the Aloha dvd on, thanks for the comment tho it is appreciated...The only footage filmed by CBS on 26/6/77 was at the airport in Indianapolis with the British fan club leader Todd Slaughter..pity because Indy was the best show on the last tour.
This man was awesome!!...right to the very end his voice was incredible!!...a gift from god, he will never be equalled as an entertainer!!...simply the best...nobody else comes even close...God bless you Elvis.
Right On!!! All the bullshit about him having to read music because he could'nt remeber the words, who cares!! He could have read it from a teleprompter like they due today or lip which he never did. That's why he is the one and only King !!!
He was the best that there ever was.

@Phoenix7878 When someone coments to me that Elvis looked bad at the end of his life, I say that even at the end of his life, looked better than the person that critisised his looks at that time.
MauricioCasteglione 1 year ago
@Airbusenzo so true now a days all you need is half good looks, a good choreagrapher and someone to write a dance song and your in... There really are no true artists or artistic talent any more. The entertainers of the past were the and are the best. Theirl a bunch of spoiled brats now They didint really have to work to break in the business the way Elvis, Martin, Sinatra, ect did And these days the word SUPERSTAR is way over used and wasted

I have been to many concerts and I have never heard an audience react this way. I have seen Neil Diamond to Cher and this is great!!!
Branson1972 2 years ago 3
Today's "stars" only have looks and when that's gone so is their appeal and drawing power. Elvis had it all! And when his looks weren't quite what they used to be ie. he gained weight- He still could pack em' in and en thrall his audience with the sheer majesty and power of his voice. Elvis was more than just handsome he had a great talent: his voice and spirit.
ErichH68 2 years ago 9
Totally agree. He is still beautiful no matter how he looks, because he is a beautiful soul with a tremendously generous and tender heart! That's the essence that endears him to millions of his fans.

great version never seen b4 ... he was so ill and yet he pulls great songs like this out of the bag ... what a voice ... when in 1977 was it recorded ?

Right On!!! All the bullshit about him having to read music because he could'nt remeber the words, who cares!! He could have read it from a teleprompter like they due today or lip which he never did. That's why he is the one and only King !!!

Great performance.... he seemed to make a few subtle changes vocally in the way he sung it compared to performances in the early 70's
