i have both a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke, and yet two strokes are much faster, 4 strokes are much smoother and fun to ride and definitly require less maintenance. If your not racing, get a 4 stroke honda, but if you are racing, i would suggest a suzuki or ktm

is there really that much maintenance involved in a 250f?. im used to 250 2 strokes but am looking for something a little tamer and easier to use in the trails as i do trails more than motorcross. i wanna buy a competition 250f but the amount of maintenance 450f's go through is really putting me off. i like the rmz 450 and 250 but i also like the crf 450x and he wr 450f. if anyone knows about the maintenance of the 450 and the 250 answer back coz im looking to change to 4 stroke.

it depends on what kind of riding you do when you apply maintenance. if you like revving to the max or hitting rev limiter expect to adjust your valves once or twice a month. for trails, if you're looking for somethin mild and tame, the CRF 250X is a great model. it has the same engine as a CRF 250R, but the motor is set up more for trails and long hard rides and the suspension isn't as track built as the 250R's. you can buy a bone stock new 250F but expect to pay more in the long run for parts.
