"Lord I was baptized in your name, I done many great wonders in your name!" Anyone who says this will hear "Depart from me you cursed!" See Matt 7:21-23. Salvation only come through faith in Him who justifies the ungodly.
@redeemed0204 I said its up for debate, I never said that Peter is not referring to water baptism. Bottom line is God does instruct us to be baptized and everyone who is a follower of Christ should be baptized. I do not believe that being baptized is what saves us though and I believe that many of your fellow Pentecostals believe the same thing including David Bernard. Many UPCI folks focus too much on the experience and not enought on the Word of God.
@JD2010CWS This experience when the name is called over you is for the remission of sins. I think that is something to focus on. I think that is something to get excited about.
@JD2010CWS I beg to defer. Our church is a part of UPCI and that is not all we focus on. We experience more than just preaching repentance, baptism in Jesus, and being filled with the Holy Ghost. You're right because it is about continuing to walk through the word of God, the growing and maturing of the saints, fellowship, and having a person relationship with Jesus Christ. The reason why salvation is emphasized because there are many lost souls that need to be saved.
@redeemed0204 and John 3.5, you totally take these verses out of context, the context is that being born of the water is being born of the flesh but I can definitely see why these verses are taken out of context since the UPC church tends to take many scriptures out of context and then just apply them to their doctrine. The day of Pentecost comes to mind and speaking in tongues. Read Corinthians. Where does the Bible say that speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of receiving the spirit
@JD2010CWS Many people interpret John 3:5 as speaking of being born of flesh. Why do you think Jesus repeated his commandment three times to Nicademus? Whatever is born of flesh is FLESH, and that which is SPIRIT is spirit. You must be born AGAIN (from above), and technically a person cannot be born AGAIN in the womb from natural birth.
@caddyppl99 Also a careful study shows in John 3:8 when Jesus spake a parable of those being of the Spirit. Notice it says "and thou HEAREST the SOUND thereof", "so that is EVERY ONE who is BORN of the Spirit" and is in accordance to Acts 2:6 "NOISED ABROAD" is the sound adhering to the parable that Jesus spoke about which has come to pass on the day of Pentecost, as every HEARD them speaking in their own language.
@redeemed0204 is the baptism that Peter 3.21 refers to water baptism or spirit baptism, I believe that can be up for debate but either way, throughout the Bible it is taught that repentance is the key and accepting Jesus as your savior. Cornelious was in fact saved prior to baptism but Peter instructed him to be baptized right away and therefore it is something that should be done but it is not what saves. Now speaking in tongues is whole different story - complete distortion of the scripture
when i got filled i seen a beam of light that filled the room and i was blind to the seen.....and i could see the unseen and i seen millions of hands of angles strecthed out to me . like they were praying on me too or sumthing. i was screaming in tongues.
FIRST OF ALL.....IF YOU TRULY BELIEVE THAT JESES IS YOUR SAVIOR.....YOU WILL DO WHAT HE TOLD THE DECIPLES TO PREACH TO THE WORLD......TO BE BAPTISED IN THE ***NAME*** OF THE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT.......WHICH IS JESUS CHRIST!!!
AND SECOND OF ALL..........WHEN YOU READ ROMANS-JUDE..........THAT IS WRITTEN TO THOSE THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN THROUGH THE ACTS 2:38 EXPIRIENCE.
Answer this my UPC friends...why such focus on baptism? The Bible specifically states how to be saved and its through believing that Jesus is our savior. The blood washes our sins away not the water. You should be baptized, it is not what saves you. Also, here's another question...where specifically in the Bible does it teach the 3 step salvation plan that UPCI teaches?...Nowhere. Acts 2:38, YE SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST. Listen to this guy, All propoganda.
Stop trying to convince Christians about the gift of the Holy Ghost; no matter how hard we Apostolic Pentecostal's try to convince a Trinitarian, they will always hardened their heart. If Trinitarians were really hungry for God, they would read the Word of God and begin to see. Amen.
@filoll. The Holy Ghost is real-and so is speaking in tongues! Read the last few chapters in Mark. There is no question this IS a sign that follows those that believe in him. We are made in his image-spirit. God is supernatural dear one, make no mistake.
You don't get baptizes in water for your sin. That is what repentance is for. In the book of Acts chapter 2:38 Peter was preaching to the unbelieversand they said said what shall we do? (2:37) And Peter didn't tell them to be baptized to repent but he said "REPENT and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins." It is better translated BECAUSE of the remissions of your sins. Your not saved because your baptized, your baptized because your saved.
@cyborgmikeable I just came across your comment on this... I know your comment was a year ago, but you still need a response to your comment... Then how do you translate... Acts 22:16... Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord...OR Mk 16:16 He that believes AND is baptized, shall be saved... Where is repentance in that verse? OR 1 Pet 3:21 Likewise baptism also now SAVES US...
@cyborgmikeable You can't be open and searching for truth if you are just hanging on to your traditions and trying to retranslate away what disagrees with your beliefs... If you don't love TRUTH, God himself will send you a strong delusion to believe a lie... 1 Thess 2:15
I am a backslider finding my way home. For years I have tried to fit in this world but it doesn't fit. I woke today with my answer to the past years heartache. It is because I AM MY FATHER'S DAUGHTER! I have been baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost. I am not of this world and I want to go HOME!
@tulsathunder1 You will find your way back home! Remember even after Peter denied the Lord - The stone rolled away - and the angel of the Lord said 7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you. Do you see it sis. no matter where you have been or done - he says - come - he knows all about it and wants and will re-instate you back to that place you had in him before. In Jesus Name!
ok now that we know how to be saved can we please try and reach out? some apostolics are so self righteous because they have truth they wont even try and win souls! a lot of preachers warn against being worldy and when you ask them how many souls they have won outside the church they have a sad response we are all sinners and all you self righteous folks who think your so much better than others because the way they dress your the ones who need to be rebuked not everyone was born into the truth.
@dolcevita4me thats not true there is one Lord one faith one babtism did you know that every new convert was babtised in the name of Jesus Christ until man changed it and invented trinity at the council of nicea did you know that matthew was present on the day of pentecost dont you think he would have told them they were babtising the wrong way?
@erichathy222 Matthew 28:18-20: Jesus drew near and said to them, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptise them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.
@erichathy222 Our Lord Jesus Christ is the way truth and life.
@dolcevita4me did you know the encyclopedia brittanica says the word trinity nor the doctrine of the trinity is found in bible? nobody was babtised in the titles that name is JESUS CHRIST im thankful for truth i dont deserve it i was worthless when i came to God
@dolcevita4me i follow Jesus all new converts were babtized in the name of Jesus Christ until man changed the formula the name of the father son and holy ghost is Jesus Christ do you pray to 3 seperate persons?
@erichathy222 I pray thanking our Lord God Almighty for what i have,i pray to Jesus Christ our Savior for his precious blood and what he done for us on the cross, and i ask The Holy Spirit to guide me and fill me.
Who did our Lord Jesus pray to when he was on Earth?Who did He say would come after he goes to The Father(right side)? The Comforter(Holy Spirit).
@dolcevita4me that is easy Jesus Christ had a dual nature he was both God and man as a man he prayed and suffered and died he was tempted in all ways like as we are yet without sin it was his flesh praying why would God the son pray to God the father there is one God all these questions are easy to answer when you see the dual nature of Jesus in trinitarian terms there would be 4 when you include the flesh part of Jesus which you cant deny btw im not a basher i like honest chats
@erichathy222 Mar 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power [the Almighty], and coming in the clouds of heaven.
He is and has eternally been three persons, as Jesus clarifies in John 17:5.
@dolcevita4me no Father, son, holy ghost are TITLES if you read in revelation is says Rev 4:2 " And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and ONE sat on the throne. their are no "3 Persons" in the old testament, they only mention one God in Heb 13:8 it says "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. " Their is only one God and Jesus is his name!!!
@apostolicguy88 .....Our Lord Jesus Christ exact commands were.."Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."
Do you dare go against the word of Jesus Christ Saviour...Or do you follow Peter,or denied Him 3 times, and Jesus said to Peter"Get behind me satan"...I follow Jesus our Lord not Peter.
@dolcevita4me i am EXACTLY following Jesus when i believe in baptism in Jesus name, their is not 1 place in the bible where someone was baptized in the name of the father son and holy ghost, Jesus IS the name of the father son and holy ghost in acts 19:5 the people were baptized in JESUS name, plus Jesus gave peter the keys to the kingdom of heaven, he was talking for Jesus, i would NEVER go against the word, i was a trinitarian just like you before i came to the revelation of Jesus name baptism
A Jew only believes in God The Father......And you only believe in Jesus Christ....
What you need to understand is that whilst you're on Earth there are three..we live in a 3-dimentional world..When we go to heaven we shall all be at one with The Father..
@dolcevita4me NO your wrong im done trying to explain it too you, Jesus IS God Jesus is the name of God, their is NO such thing as trinity, if you go to a jew and tell them their are 3 persons in God they will laugh at you, THEY ARE TITLES NOT NAMES, God is omnipresent do you not understand what that means?
@apostolicguy88 I believe in Father,Son,Holy Spirit...When i go to Heaven and realise that i didn't need to pray to all three, then what have i lost? I still maintained a relationship with Lord Jesus.
But when you go to Heaven and realise there are three, then you missed out having a relationship with Father and Holy Spirit.. Not good.
@apostolicguy88 This is was what Jesus promised. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am” (John 14:1-3).
Notice He didn't say "His house".I've been baptised in The name of Jesus, just like you.But also our Father and Holy Spirit.
@dolcevita4me Jhn 10:30 I and [my] Father are one. Jhn 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father? Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
@apostolicguy88 the bible says those who call on the name Jesus will be saved not those who are baptised in the name of Jesus. if a person is amputated in a hospital bed can't moves and then come to realization that Jesus is real. if he confess his sins and accept what John 3:16 says i believe that if god was to come at that very moment he would go to heaven. baptism is a sign. I never heard a record in the bible that the disciples where baptised.
@apostolicguy88 John baptism did not state that people where baptised in the name of Jesus. In Genesis 1: 26 God said let 'us' Make man in 'our' image This does not state that Jesus was speaking to himself God was talking to Jesus. and when Jesus said in the New testament when you see me you see my father for example I look like my father and act like him sometimes, It simply means he carries similar attributes as his father.
@erichathy222 with all due respect not to argue are come against you for all men have a choice.
The word trinity means one God who manifest himself in three persons.
Example:
A family consist of three persons, Father, Mother and Son, It is One Family that has three persons.
We are not saying that we worship 3 God's. John 3:16 says "For 'GOD' so loved the world that he sent his son to die on the cross for us. It did not say For Jesus so loved the world that he sent Jesus. Thank you for listening.
@dolcevita4me that matthew must have been backslid or just not paying attention because he was present when they were babtizing in that wonderful name you really cannot exalt Jesus Christ and give him the highest praise without acknowledging that God was manifest in the flesh my freind you need to study church history nobody was ever babtized in the titles all were babtized in the name of Jesus Christ
@erichathy222 The word Rapture itself is not in the bible. not saying i don't believe in the rapture because i do very much so. The word itself states the meaning "being caught up in the air to meet our creator". It written in context
@erichathy222 that the thing with you guys i can't take you guys believe you are always right and never wrong, when are you guys going to humble yourself and realise that we are not perfect. Atheists is a person who does no believe in God, as far as i know we who believe in the trinity believes in god.
I guess it is really important to be open to accept others' explanation. To listen about things from their view point. Besides that truth can withstand testings and questions.
i need all the christain freinds and subs please thank you i feel we can reach people if we be a freind to them with all meekness and kindness i am trying to do something good on youtube there are so many atheists please help me fight thank you
How I love Jesus. John 3:5 Unless you are born again of water and of Spirit you can not enter the the Kingdom of God. I pray that God will open hearts to understanding.. because their is only one truth one way to do it.. the Bible says many will come in his name and deceive many, but I am Glad that I have the truth and the truth shall make you free, not set but make because he makes and mold you till you are free.. Jesus the
Creator of the World.. the Propitiation of our sins. The High Priest.
Certainly in a sense Paul was "just another human just like we all are;" however, additionally Paul was:
- the "Apostle of the Gentiles"
- the one to whom the risen Lord Jesus Christ appeared on the road to Damascus
- the one to whom the risen Lord Jesus Christ gave many revelations
I Tim 3:16 "Howbeit for this cause I (Paul) obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, FOR A PATTERN to them which should hereafter believe on Him to life everlasting."
Baptism not necessary AND should not be practiced. Let your doctrine be updated by the revelation the ascended Christ gave to the Apostle Paul. In Eph 4: 4,5 Paul says there is one baptism. In Rom. 6 Paul makes it clear that the one baptism is the baptism of the Holy Spirit which occurs the moment one accepts Christ. If you believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit AND water baptism THEN you have two baptisms!! You need to keep the UNITY by following Eph 4.
You cannot take one scripture and call it doctrine. His Word declares by the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses shall His Word be established. I suggest reading the book of Acts thoroughly, and if you don't catch what I'm trying to say, let me know and I will definitely explain what I'm saying with more depth. Take care and God bless.
Acts shows the gradual decrease in the Law and a gradual increase in grace as revealed to the Apostle Paul from the ascended Christ. You can't go back under what the earth Jesus and the 12 preached to establish truth for today. You have to allow yourself to be "updated" by the NEW Pauline revelation given by the ascended Christ Jesus. Paul received the "revelation of the mystery" and the "dispensation of the grace of God" from the ascended Christ.
The new revelation received by Paul from the risen Christ is that there is NOW only one baptism and that is the baptism by the Holy Spirit the moment we believe through saving faith in Christ. There is NOW only ONE baptism according to Eph 4:4,5. Col. 2 also makes this clear..."circumcision without hands."
I'm sorry, so you are now saying Peter was wrong in what he taught, and when Jesus walked the Earth, His teachings then are wrong. You might as well remove their teachings and the Old Testament as well if you look at it that way. In the book of Acts, people who were filled with the Holy Spirit were commanded to be baptized, by immersion in water in Jesus' name. Water baptism is the new "circumcision".
No, Peter was not wrong in what he taught, but with the setting aside of God earthly program in which the Gospel of the Kingdom was to go to the Jew first....God raised up the Apostle Paul as the "Apostle to the Gentiles" with the Gospel of the Grace of God....the fullness of God's grace. Paul teaches "one baptism" as the baptism of the Holy Spirit...it has nothing to do with a preacher's water ceremony. There is NOW only ONE baptism....which one is it? Eph 4:4,5
Just as the circumcision of the heart is made without hands, so is the baptism of the holy spirit through the "operation of God" -- and has NOTHING to do with a water ceremony. Christendom's biggest mistakes are to fail to recognize the distinctive ministry given to Paul and to realize that the word baptism does not necessarily indicate "water."
Acts 2:38 indicates that you must repent and be baptized in Jesus' name to be filled/baptized with the Holy Spirit.
In Acts 10, PETER was called by God to go to Cornelius, a GENTILE, whom received the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues. That's how he knew he received it. Then stated in Act 10:47-48, the GENTILES were baptized in Jesus' name. Also, Jesus taught you must be born of the water and the Spirit to enter Heaven. That's water baptism, and receiving the Holy Spirit.
jonn86, but all of what you say there completely ignores the NEWER "revelation of the mystery" and the "gospel of the grace of God" given to the Apostle Paul through special revelation from the ascended Christ. Go there to find that things had changed from the earthly ministry of the 12 apostles and Jesus to the heavenly truths and heavently hope revealed to the Apostle Paul. You have to get into the Pauline revelation for truth specifically for TODAY.
I'm sorry but that is just equivalent to taking away the OT and most of NT from the Bible. I hold firmly to the scripture that states not to add or remove from the scriptures. I do have one question though. What do you think about the books of John 1, 2 & 3, plus Revelations? Those were not written by Paul, but written by John who walked with Jesus. What about the Letters written by Peter? I'm sorry but I refuse to take away from scripture.
You don't keep OT law do you...? So how can you accuse me of "taking away" from the word of God. The simple fact is that ALL scripture is for us, but not all scripture was written TO us. For example, I can read a letter written to you which may have interesting facts in it even for me, but that mail has particular meaning to you because it was written TO you. It is the same way with the Pauline revelation given for the Body of Christ in this dispensation of grace...we have to UPDATE.
The letters of John and Peter along with the book of Revelation will have particular meaning during the tribulation period. It is Paul who claimed to be the "Apostle to the Gentiles" with the "Dispensation of the Grace of God." We are now fully under grace and not under law and its myriad of ordinances to be kept. I'm curious...back to my question....How many baptisms do you believe in in light of Eph 4:4,5.
Just because Paul was called to be the Apostle to the Gentiles doesn't mean everything he taught cancelled out all other teachings, especially Jesus', who is God Himself manifest in the flesh. I really can't see how you can take something Paul taught, and make it doctrine over something our very own God taught, not only to the Jews but to all men on this earth. Jesus didn't come to save just the Jews. They're already saved. He came to save the world.
Take a close look at what you've written in that comment jonn86 -- your very words deny that ALL the Bible is God-given. If the whole Bible is God-given, then the NEWER revelation God provided us through the Apostle Paul has more significance for us than the words of the earthly Jesus. The Words Paul wrote were given by the ASCENDED Jesus and are NEW instruction...so why would you want to place yourself under older instruction. God has deal differently with men in different DISPENSATIONS.
Well let me answer your question because I will acknowledge I have forgotten to answer you. I believe that Ephesians 4:4,5's baptism is speaking of the Water Baptism. Paul teaches we are buried with Christ in baptism... Hence the term" Death, Burial, Resurrection". The HG is resurrection.
Answer this, where in the Bible does it state Paul's teachings over rule Jesus Christ's teachings? Yes, he has a newer revelation, but it's not all a replacement of what Christ taught, nor Peter, and ect.
Do a close study of what the 12 the Jesus preached compared to the new revelation given to the Apostle Paul....there are many distinctions. Perhaps this site could help you and others:
bereanbiblesociety (dot) org
They have lots of literature on the distinctions between the two.
So you think that the baptism of Eph 4:4:5 is water....then where does Spirit Baptism fit into the picture IF according to Eph. 4:4,5 there is ONLY ONE baptism.....???
Yeah, that can get a bit confusing to understand, but it is clearly talking about water baptism. In the book of Acts, when people received the Holy Spirit, it said they received it, or were filled with it.
When Peter said in Acts 2:38 to those who asked "What must we do to be saved?", He told them to Repent, and Be Baptized in Jesus' name, and you shall receive the Holy Spirit. Notice he did not say "You shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit".
This is exactly my point you keep making the HUGE mistake of going BACK to Peter rather than allowing your doctrine to be UPDATED by the Pauline Revelation of the Mystery.....LOTS of new teaching for the body of Christ. Paul NEVER SAID anything like "repent and be baptized for the remission of sins." He did practice water baptism in his early ministry, but after he received the full revelation, he stopped such practice for the ONE BAPTISM by the operations of God...not the preacher! Eph 4:4-5
Yes, the woman was "speaking in tongues" when she came out of the baptismal waters because YOUR CHURCH CULTURE teaches her that that is EXPECTED of her...therefore she DOES IT.
Mark 16 with it's "sign gifts" and raising the dead has no applicability to the "Church the Body of Christ" and the Pauline revelation. You NEED TO UPDATE you doctrine according to the Pauline revelation given to us by the ascended and glorified Lord Jesus Christ!!!
A statement like that just shows that you don't study the Word of God...or have you already learned everything there is to know about the Bible?
We certainly don't need to update the Bible, but it would help to begin reading the part of the Bible written TO us the gentiles. And for that you have to go to Paul and the "revelation of the mystery" revealed to him!
Paul also says that the one baptism is the "operation of God" -- NOT of the preacher. It is a spiritual baptism just as the circumcision is a spiritual circumcision of the heart....according to Col. 2
I'm sorry but we're going nowhere. You obviously do not have the true revelation of Jesus Christ because Paul's teachings do not surpass Jesus, our God and Saviour's teachings. The whole Bible reveals that revelation, not just Paul's teachings.
Speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit, followed by the Fruits of the Spirit. That's how Peter knew even the Gentiles received it.. Obviously you deny even Peter's teachings... I pray God bless you. I'm done.
"Paul's teachings" are NOT his own...they were given by the our risen, ascended, and glorified Lord Jesus Christ to the gentiles through the "Apostle to the Gentiles" -- Paul.
Mark, I want to apologize if I have been a bit "testy". God has been working some things out of me, which didn't make me feel to comfortable. But I know God works all things out for the better.
I know you believe differently than I do, and I want to respect that as I rephrase my last post. You and I have gone in circles on this, and neither of us are going to agree. I do not want to cause you strife, so I just think we should end the conversation. God bless you in Jesus' name.
God has sent a famine in the land-not for bread, nor water but for hearing the word of Lord-Amos8:11.Our mission as Christians is to go tell all the good news that Jesus has paid the price for our sins.We can apply the Grace of God which brings salvation by our obedience and acceptance of baptism in Jesus name.Narrow is the way that leads to life and few will enter in.We accept the truth on God's terms and reject the false teachings in this world. Many proclaim the truth-a few show it.Godblessu
Praise the Lord! I was Atheist, and was very sick. My mother was desperately seeking God because the doctors and the medications and treatments weren't working. She finally came across a local UPCI church who prayed for me, while I was in the hospital, and God delivered me. After I got the Holy Ghost and got baptized, I was healed fully. I've been in the church for 4 years now, in the best shape of my life.
That I have begun to do. I was really shy in the beginning but God gave me confidence. I volunteer in a hospital I live near because God had called me to witness there. God has blessed and blessed and blessed there. I have met one person that didn't know it but her parents attend a pentecostal church. I have a really close friend there that has told me he really isn't a church goer, yet he's given me a ride to church when I needed it. There's many other things happening there, praise God!
I read your profile. It's beautiful. I just wanted to ask because you would be one who knows. Why are atheist such bitter people? They become infuriated by simply hearing someone speak of God. Why are they that way. Even if they disagree, why don't they think we have the same right to proclaim our belief just as they do?
I used to be an Atheist after how I was treated in the churches I attended before. I attended Trinitarian Baptist Churches, and they all were just like giant social clubs and I was never spoken to. Then I stopped going as things in my life got worse, and God didn't seem to hear my prayers. That's what made me stop believing. I felt God was never around, so He must've never existed. But that brought on the spirit of the antichrist, causing me to hate God and His people more, and to enjoy sin.
I'll say this. If an atheist wants to publicly state their beliefs, I'll disagree, however, I'll still stand for their right. Yet, when we state our beliefs, they want to silence us. It seems to me that this should go against their own logic. They can't truly claim to believe in liberty, nor understand it. There really is no liberty without God. It's no wonder why communism, being the repressive government it is, historically champions atheism. This truly is a snare. Be glad you have the truth.
If it wasn't for the love my church has shown me, and God's healing power, I may never had believed. My church accepted me when I laughed at them speaking in tongues during service, mock them for their worship and praise, even when I cursed them in my trials and show'd hate in my tribulations. They always forgave me, never shunned me, and they always loved me, just as God loves me. It was that kind of love that let God heal my heart and soul.
Sure, as long as it's the truth of the Word of God you're believing and not the salad bar pick-and-choose version. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism. Praise God!
so you approve of slavery and believe that an unborn child's life is less important then someone already alive? if you don't you're picking and choosing from the Bible yourself.
i assumed you were talking about people picking and choosing from the Bible for their religion. If so I gave some examples. If saying i "went off the deep end" makes you feel better for not having an argument I can deal with that.
One year ago I was a pagan but I was delivered and I love God, I can refer to that feeling he described of just feeling weights falling off of you and feeling like you can fly. Thank God for his love and deliverance.
Bro. Stoneking, I heard this testimony in a tape of a service you were in in Houston, years ago - that sermon has been so important for me and my 6 children and everyone we have met since. Thank you for sharing it - this dynamite testimony of how you got baptized in the Precious Name of Jesus.....thank you
I use to be a baptist youth minister and left everything behind including my titles. I repented of my sins, was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and received the Holy Ghost and fire with truth being taught by Pastor Gino Jennings. I thank GOd for the Truth that made me free.
Praise God! I was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ 4 years ago and God filled me with the glorious gift of the Holy Ghost! and i have never been the same since! Thank you Jesus! II Cor. 5:17- "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
Same here 2 years ago.. and I was the sinner of sinners.. one day I was an alchohlic the next moment I was delivered and am rejoicing after 2 years..THANK YOU JESUS!!
HAHA wow...maybe you need to know God's Word a little better. First off your not the Judge on who goes to hell or not. Dont judge lest you be judged. Also unless a man be born of the WATER and of the SPIRIT no man shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven! Yes, you can recieve the Holy Ghost before you are baptized.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You contradict yourself, fart.
You say that someone cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven unless he is born of the water, and of the Spirit(you think it's talking of water baptism). And then you say someone can receive the Holy Ghost BEFORE they are baptized in water.
OKAY...
Someone receive the Holy Ghost before they are baptized... Then they get ran over by a car a few hours later... Heaven or Hell for that person? They haven't been baptized in water yet.
Thats for God to decide bro. No man can decide if a person enters the kingdom of God of not. BUT, if the person truly received the Holy Ghost why wouldn't they want to go ahead and get baptized anyway? It just make any sense to not go ahead and do it... I think it is very humerous how people can deny the nessecitty of Holy Ghost infilling and Jesus Name Baptism when they haven't even experienced it..
I agree with you 110% I,m tired of fake trinitarian concept of trinitarianism i have been at a crossroads with my faith I was converted at 20 to Apostolic Christianity I came from a passion Trintartian home in an African American Community no Apostolic churches near where I live and most of churches in my city are separated not even an UPCI church nearby until went to one in 2003 for a conference all white Apostolic church the gossip from non Apostolic christians .

JD2010CWS 9 months ago
@JD2010CWS seriously? there is scripture that says, now baptism now doth saves us
curbsquirrel1 7 months ago
@JD2010CWS This experience when the name is called over you is for the remission of sins. I think that is something to focus on. I think that is something to get excited about.
MARVVANN1214 7 months ago
@JD2010CWS I beg to defer. Our church is a part of UPCI and that is not all we focus on. We experience more than just preaching repentance, baptism in Jesus, and being filled with the Holy Ghost. You're right because it is about continuing to walk through the word of God, the growing and maturing of the saints, fellowship, and having a person relationship with Jesus Christ. The reason why salvation is emphasized because there are many lost souls that need to be saved.
caddyppl99 3 weeks ago
@redeemed0204 and John 3.5, you totally take these verses out of context, the context is that being born of the water is being born of the flesh but I can definitely see why these verses are taken out of context since the UPC church tends to take many scriptures out of context and then just apply them to their doctrine. The day of Pentecost comes to mind and speaking in tongues. Read Corinthians. Where does the Bible say that speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of receiving the spirit
JD2010CWS 9 months ago
@JD2010CWS Many people interpret John 3:5 as speaking of being born of flesh. Why do you think Jesus repeated his commandment three times to Nicademus? Whatever is born of flesh is FLESH, and that which is SPIRIT is spirit. You must be born AGAIN (from above), and technically a person cannot be born AGAIN in the womb from natural birth.
caddyppl99 3 weeks ago
@caddyppl99 Also a careful study shows in John 3:8 when Jesus spake a parable of those being of the Spirit. Notice it says "and thou HEAREST the SOUND thereof", "so that is EVERY ONE who is BORN of the Spirit" and is in accordance to Acts 2:6 "NOISED ABROAD" is the sound adhering to the parable that Jesus spoke about which has come to pass on the day of Pentecost, as every HEARD them speaking in their own language.
caddyppl99 3 weeks ago
@redeemed0204 is the baptism that Peter 3.21 refers to water baptism or spirit baptism, I believe that can be up for debate but either way, throughout the Bible it is taught that repentance is the key and accepting Jesus as your savior. Cornelious was in fact saved prior to baptism but Peter instructed him to be baptized right away and therefore it is something that should be done but it is not what saves. Now speaking in tongues is whole different story - complete distortion of the scripture

Amen.

Your not saved because your baptized, your baptized because your saved.
cyborgmikeable 1 year ago 2

Certainly in a sense Paul was "just another human just like we all are;" however, additionally Paul was:

Baptism not necessary AND should not be practiced. Let your doctrine be updated by the revelation the ascended Christ gave to the Apostle Paul. In Eph 4: 4,5 Paul says there is one baptism. In Rom. 6 Paul makes it clear that the one baptism is the baptism of the Holy Spirit which occurs the moment one accepts Christ. If you believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit AND water baptism THEN you have two baptisms!! You need to keep the UNITY by following Eph 4.
markpianoman 2 years ago
You cannot take one scripture and call it doctrine. His Word declares by the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses shall His Word be established. I suggest reading the book of Acts thoroughly, and if you don't catch what I'm trying to say, let me know and I will definitely explain what I'm saying with more depth. Take care and God bless.
jonn86 2 years ago
Acts shows the gradual decrease in the Law and a gradual increase in grace as revealed to the Apostle Paul from the ascended Christ. You can't go back under what the earth Jesus and the 12 preached to establish truth for today. You have to allow yourself to be "updated" by the NEW Pauline revelation given by the ascended Christ Jesus. Paul received the "revelation of the mystery" and the "dispensation of the grace of God" from the ascended Christ.
markpianoman 2 years ago
The new revelation received by Paul from the risen Christ is that there is NOW only one baptism and that is the baptism by the Holy Spirit the moment we believe through saving faith in Christ. There is NOW only ONE baptism according to Eph 4:4,5. Col. 2 also makes this clear..."circumcision without hands."
markpianoman 2 years ago
I'm sorry, so you are now saying Peter was wrong in what he taught, and when Jesus walked the Earth, His teachings then are wrong. You might as well remove their teachings and the Old Testament as well if you look at it that way. In the book of Acts, people who were filled with the Holy Spirit were commanded to be baptized, by immersion in water in Jesus' name. Water baptism is the new "circumcision".
jonn86 2 years ago
No, Peter was not wrong in what he taught, but with the setting aside of God earthly program in which the Gospel of the Kingdom was to go to the Jew first....God raised up the Apostle Paul as the "Apostle to the Gentiles" with the Gospel of the Grace of God....the fullness of God's grace. Paul teaches "one baptism" as the baptism of the Holy Spirit...it has nothing to do with a preacher's water ceremony. There is NOW only ONE baptism....which one is it? Eph 4:4,5
markpianoman 2 years ago
Just as the circumcision of the heart is made without hands, so is the baptism of the holy spirit through the "operation of God" -- and has NOTHING to do with a water ceremony. Christendom's biggest mistakes are to fail to recognize the distinctive ministry given to Paul and to realize that the word baptism does not necessarily indicate "water."
markpianoman 2 years ago
Acts 2:38 indicates that you must repent and be baptized in Jesus' name to be filled/baptized with the Holy Spirit.
In Acts 10, PETER was called by God to go to Cornelius, a GENTILE, whom received the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues. That's how he knew he received it. Then stated in Act 10:47-48, the GENTILES were baptized in Jesus' name. Also, Jesus taught you must be born of the water and the Spirit to enter Heaven. That's water baptism, and receiving the Holy Spirit.
jonn86 2 years ago
jonn86, but all of what you say there completely ignores the NEWER "revelation of the mystery" and the "gospel of the grace of God" given to the Apostle Paul through special revelation from the ascended Christ. Go there to find that things had changed from the earthly ministry of the 12 apostles and Jesus to the heavenly truths and heavently hope revealed to the Apostle Paul. You have to get into the Pauline revelation for truth specifically for TODAY.
markpianoman 2 years ago
I'm sorry but that is just equivalent to taking away the OT and most of NT from the Bible. I hold firmly to the scripture that states not to add or remove from the scriptures. I do have one question though. What do you think about the books of John 1, 2 & 3, plus Revelations? Those were not written by Paul, but written by John who walked with Jesus. What about the Letters written by Peter? I'm sorry but I refuse to take away from scripture.
jonn86 2 years ago
You don't keep OT law do you...? So how can you accuse me of "taking away" from the word of God. The simple fact is that ALL scripture is for us, but not all scripture was written TO us. For example, I can read a letter written to you which may have interesting facts in it even for me, but that mail has particular meaning to you because it was written TO you. It is the same way with the Pauline revelation given for the Body of Christ in this dispensation of grace...we have to UPDATE.
markpianoman 2 years ago
The letters of John and Peter along with the book of Revelation will have particular meaning during the tribulation period. It is Paul who claimed to be the "Apostle to the Gentiles" with the "Dispensation of the Grace of God." We are now fully under grace and not under law and its myriad of ordinances to be kept. I'm curious...back to my question....How many baptisms do you believe in in light of Eph 4:4,5.

jonn86 2 years ago
Just because Paul was called to be the Apostle to the Gentiles doesn't mean everything he taught cancelled out all other teachings, especially Jesus', who is God Himself manifest in the flesh. I really can't see how you can take something Paul taught, and make it doctrine over something our very own God taught, not only to the Jews but to all men on this earth. Jesus didn't come to save just the Jews. They're already saved. He came to save the world.
jonn86 2 years ago
Take a close look at what you've written in that comment jonn86 -- your very words deny that ALL the Bible is God-given. If the whole Bible is God-given, then the NEWER revelation God provided us through the Apostle Paul has more significance for us than the words of the earthly Jesus. The Words Paul wrote were given by the ASCENDED Jesus and are NEW instruction...so why would you want to place yourself under older instruction. God has deal differently with men in different DISPENSATIONS.
markpianoman 2 years ago
Well let me answer your question because I will acknowledge I have forgotten to answer you. I believe that Ephesians 4:4,5's baptism is speaking of the Water Baptism. Paul teaches we are buried with Christ in baptism... Hence the term" Death, Burial, Resurrection". The HG is resurrection.
Answer this, where in the Bible does it state Paul's teachings over rule Jesus Christ's teachings? Yes, he has a newer revelation, but it's not all a replacement of what Christ taught, nor Peter, and ect.
jonn86 2 years ago
Do a close study of what the 12 the Jesus preached compared to the new revelation given to the Apostle Paul....there are many distinctions. Perhaps this site could help you and others:
bereanbiblesociety (dot) org
They have lots of literature on the distinctions between the two.
So you think that the baptism of Eph 4:4:5 is water....then where does Spirit Baptism fit into the picture IF according to Eph. 4:4,5 there is ONLY ONE baptism.....???
markpianoman 2 years ago

Eph 4:4-5
markpianoman 2 years ago
Paul said we are buried with Him in baptism. When you are baptized, you are being fully immersed in water... Or "buried" in water.
Sunday at church, a woman was baptized in Jesus' name, and when she came up out of the water, she was speaking in tongues.
Death = Repentance = Altar of Sacrifice
Burial = Baptism = Lavor of Water
Resurrection = Holy Spirit = Ark of Covenant
jonn86 2 years ago
Yes, the woman was "speaking in tongues" when she came out of the baptismal waters because YOUR CHURCH CULTURE teaches her that that is EXPECTED of her...therefore she DOES IT.
Mark 16 with it's "sign gifts" and raising the dead has no applicability to the "Church the Body of Christ" and the Pauline revelation. You NEED TO UPDATE you doctrine according to the Pauline revelation given to us by the ascended and glorified Lord Jesus Christ!!!
markpianoman 2 years ago
we dont need to update the bible or our understanding of truth
mattix771 2 years ago
A statement like that just shows that you don't study the Word of God...or have you already learned everything there is to know about the Bible?
We certainly don't need to update the Bible, but it would help to begin reading the part of the Bible written TO us the gentiles. And for that you have to go to Paul and the "revelation of the mystery" revealed to him!
markpianoman 2 years ago
Paul also says that the one baptism is the "operation of God" -- NOT of the preacher. It is a spiritual baptism just as the circumcision is a spiritual circumcision of the heart....according to Col. 2
markpianoman 2 years ago
I'm sorry but we're going nowhere. You obviously do not have the true revelation of Jesus Christ because Paul's teachings do not surpass Jesus, our God and Saviour's teachings. The whole Bible reveals that revelation, not just Paul's teachings.
Speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit, followed by the Fruits of the Spirit. That's how Peter knew even the Gentiles received it.. Obviously you deny even Peter's teachings... I pray God bless you. I'm done.
jonn86 2 years ago
"Paul's teachings" are NOT his own...they were given by the our risen, ascended, and glorified Lord Jesus Christ to the gentiles through the "Apostle to the Gentiles" -- Paul.
You obviously fail to accept this basic truth!
markpianoman 2 years ago
Mark, I want to apologize if I have been a bit "testy". God has been working some things out of me, which didn't make me feel to comfortable. But I know God works all things out for the better.
I know you believe differently than I do, and I want to respect that as I rephrase my last post. You and I have gone in circles on this, and neither of us are going to agree. I do not want to cause you strife, so I just think we should end the conversation. God bless you in Jesus' name.
:)

Let's get back to my question which you have not yet answered:
How many baptisms do you believe in in light of Eph 4:4,5.

Your next step is to spread your testimony.. and reach for the lost souls..
koreanwutard 2 years ago
That I have begun to do. I was really shy in the beginning but God gave me confidence. I volunteer in a hospital I live near because God had called me to witness there. God has blessed and blessed and blessed there. I have met one person that didn't know it but her parents attend a pentecostal church. I have a really close friend there that has told me he really isn't a church goer, yet he's given me a ride to church when I needed it. There's many other things happening there, praise God!
jonn86 2 years ago
I read your profile. It's beautiful. I just wanted to ask because you would be one who knows. Why are atheist such bitter people? They become infuriated by simply hearing someone speak of God. Why are they that way. Even if they disagree, why don't they think we have the same right to proclaim our belief just as they do?
BushmasterXM15E2S 2 years ago
I used to be an Atheist after how I was treated in the churches I attended before. I attended Trinitarian Baptist Churches, and they all were just like giant social clubs and I was never spoken to. Then I stopped going as things in my life got worse, and God didn't seem to hear my prayers. That's what made me stop believing. I felt God was never around, so He must've never existed. But that brought on the spirit of the antichrist, causing me to hate God and His people more, and to enjoy sin.
jonn86 2 years ago
I'll say this. If an atheist wants to publicly state their beliefs, I'll disagree, however, I'll still stand for their right. Yet, when we state our beliefs, they want to silence us. It seems to me that this should go against their own logic. They can't truly claim to believe in liberty, nor understand it. There really is no liberty without God. It's no wonder why communism, being the repressive government it is, historically champions atheism. This truly is a snare. Be glad you have the truth.
BushmasterXM15E2S 2 years ago
If it wasn't for the love my church has shown me, and God's healing power, I may never had believed. My church accepted me when I laughed at them speaking in tongues during service, mock them for their worship and praise, even when I cursed them in my trials and show'd hate in my tribulations. They always forgave me, never shunned me, and they always loved me, just as God loves me. It was that kind of love that let God heal my heart and soul.

i feel that denominations just split up the Christian faith, doesn't matter which one you are as long as you believe
leusch13 2 years ago
Sure, as long as it's the truth of the Word of God you're believing and not the salad bar pick-and-choose version. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism. Praise God!
9pointheat 2 years ago
so you approve of slavery and believe that an unborn child's life is less important then someone already alive? if you don't you're picking and choosing from the Bible yourself.

You just went off the deep end, and I have no idea what you're talking about or why.
9pointheat 2 years ago
i assumed you were talking about people picking and choosing from the Bible for their religion. If so I gave some examples. If saying i "went off the deep end" makes you feel better for not having an argument I can deal with that.

You people are stupid, and you don't know God, nor His word.
The people at the end of Acts 10 had the Holy Ghost, and they had never been baptized by immersion.
Also, the people in Acts 8 WERE ALREADY BAPTIZED in the name of the Lord Jesus, and DIDN'T have the Holy Ghost.
NO Holy Ghost, NO salvation (Rom. 8:9)
You guys better REPENT of loving your denominational teachings more than the TRUTH of God's Word, or your going to burn in Hell.
1611isperfect 3 years ago
HAHA wow...maybe you need to know God's Word a little better. First off your not the Judge on who goes to hell or not. Dont judge lest you be judged. Also unless a man be born of the WATER and of the SPIRIT no man shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven! Yes, you can recieve the Holy Ghost before you are baptized.
thefart08 3 years ago

You contradict yourself, fart.
You say that someone cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven unless he is born of the water, and of the Spirit(you think it's talking of water baptism). And then you say someone can receive the Holy Ghost BEFORE they are baptized in water.
OKAY...
Someone receive the Holy Ghost before they are baptized... Then they get ran over by a car a few hours later... Heaven or Hell for that person? They haven't been baptized in water yet.
1611isperfect 3 years ago
