  • Another tip, after I seal a jar, instead of pulling tubing, I just release the lever on the sealer.

  • Don't know if anyone else mentioned, you can take either rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover to get old labeling off of your reused lids. Thanks for all the tips. Amy

  • Just an FYI, Granny Miller's web site is no more!

  • Nice Job! I want one of those sealers!

  • I see your peanut brittle is practically gone! LOL

  • ohh cute cleopatra! your girls look like they had a great time. Gotta get me a vacuum sealer and dehydrator..xmas wish list, LOL

  • haha yeah they are crazy he is a jigalo and she is a jigelet he likes guys and she likes girl but they are dating each other. but yeah i live in another state

  • NOOOOOOOO cant go without chocolate!:( Would the world still turn without coffee?:)Thats a great tip on the chocolate storage.I would have to hide it from myself;)Sweets are my weakness.Great costumes!Bet it took you a long time on that bee keeper "costume";)I too had to buy a new vacumn sealer, mine was about 15 yrs old.I got the v3460 model.Love it.I also save and re-use old lids for vacumn sealing. How are the piggys doing?

  • na i live in spanaway wa far away from you but i love how you do stuff i love watching you and things that you have.

  • @pitbulllover45 You mention having a cpuple of crazy neighbors, so I thought it a possibility. ; )

  • @pitbulllover45 oops! We are neighbors! I'm East Hill of Seattle.

  • @AuntDuddie you live in seattle i live in spanaway near the spanaway walmart. if you know where that is. that is coold

  • @pitbulllover45 Nope I don't know the area too well but Hungry Hubby is like a homing pigeon so he probably does. We avoid WalMartians as much as possible!!!! And I am skeeeered of pitbulls.

  • @AuntDuddie aww why are you scared of pitbulls most pits are very nice i have a 9 month old pitbull female who is in her second heat right now but she is so sweet she isn't aggressive at all she has puppy hyper. i also have a pit mix he is a golden retriever/pitbull mix i got him when he was a year old.

pit bulls are not all bad as people make them out to be but i love the pitbull breed i have some family telling me to get rid of her but i won't give up my pet i love her and no is going to

  • @AuntDuddie make me get rid of her even though some of my family think i should get rid of her just because of her breed. but i didn't get her in the thought of fighting her i bought her to make her a loving family member and that is what she is to me and nothing else i don't treat her like a human i treat her like she wants to be treated. I think if you saw my pit in my yard you wouldn't be afraid of her yeah she may look mean but she is really a sweet heart she just wants to be loved on i have

  • @AuntDuddie only found one person she didn't like was a little kid who was throwing rocks at her and a kid that tried to shoot her with a bb gun I can understand why she don't like the two boys but she loves the other kids. but it is all in how you train and treat the dog.

  • Jeepers, my food saver is 12 or 13 years old. Had to replace the jar sucker thingie but it works great! I wish it would break down so I could get a new fangled one.....

  • @AuntDuddie You know, I got to thinking about it, and my old one WAS actually older than 3 years. I think it was closer to twice that old. Still, not a long time, but we've used it A LOT and sucking up the water into it from some meat I was sealing was the last straw for it.

  • haha too bad my candy didn't last the night lol. Umm did I say "my candy" I meant my 1 yr old daughter's candy, she might choke on it so I eat it to save her life.

  • @Keildra i do the same thing for my 7 year old..... a parents job is nvr done Lol :)

  • @Keildra Bahahahaha! Made me laugh. Oh the sacrifices we make for our children. . .

  • Isn't the Food Saver great? I love mine ....now I love yours :( Anyway I think I will start using it ...a lot and then maybe I will qualify for a newer model :) The girls look so cute!

  • @Mrssoappeddler Thank you.

  • lol love that saying funky color lol i have a older model of sealer dosnt have the hose thingy that i can see

  • I take extra candy and donate it to the food pantries around my town.

  • @karenchakey That's a great idea! But I must admit: I donate staples and such, but I'm terribly stingy when it comes to chocolate.

  • I bought a big box of full sized Hersey bars with almonds for the trick-or-treaters. I gave them to the adults too. They accepted them with a grin.

  • @vention4wh Now you know word is going to get around and next year you'll have twice as many trick or treaters, don't you? I have always made up goodie bags for the neighborhood kids, usually including a full-size chocolate bar . This year, I just couldn't afford it because I'm supplying extra snacks for the kids who don't bring one in my youngest daughter's classroom. About half the kids aren't bringing in snacks and it's getting expensive. Signs of the times I'm afraid. . .

  • I like what you leave for the future better than what most people do. Generally they wrap up a nice big chunk of debt and leave it for their future self to deal with. It's like they hate themselves or something.

I threw a vacuum gauge on my food saver and it drops the pressure down to -20hg (-30 is outer space). So that's basically 10hg absolute. The pressure at the summit of Mt Everest is 9.84hg if I did the math right.

I'd like to replace my food saver pump with one used in AC work (-29)

    (-:

  • @vention4wh Debt-load is going to be the great determiner as to who struggles and who struggles A LOT in the future IMHO. One of the biggest, best, and most important preps anyone can do is get rid of as much of their debt as fast as they can.

  • @Michigansnowpony

No doubt. During the housing bubble run up, people told me to upgrade and get on the real estate band wagon. I refused, not trusting the whole thing and kept paying my mortgage down. I'm boring. LOL.

Now all my debts are paid off. Without debt it only takes 30% of my take home pay to cover all my spending for the month. Having a family wage job with a single man's expenses is awesome

I didn't see you among my subscribers so I thought I'd give you the quick version of the story

  • Great tip Renee. You could also make mini candybar arrangement using chop sticks or bamboo sqewers. Kind of like a flower arrangement but with candy bars instead.

  • @Allen2045 I would defoliate that kind of arrangement in record time I'm afraid! : ) I like to vacuum seal candy because it's too much effort to open the jars and so I can't graze easily on it.

  • Thanks for this tip. I haven't used my jar vacuum sealer lid yet and this will be a good test.

  • Sorry kids, can't have any candy until the end of the world. Only pressure canning it would be more mean.

Just messing with ya. I know you're too nice to do that... or are you?

  • @buckstarchaser I say that's mental torture, you can see it in the jar...lol.

  • Cute Girls Renee. Thanks for the tips as always. Keep them Vidoes coming! I love the yogurt and brittle, just made it!!!! :-) I have happy boys now!

  • MSP, Sadly GrannyMiller is no longer online. A few months back her server crashed. Evidently she had no back up files and lost pretty much everything. After that she even took down her youtube channel (Wolfcrik, or something like that). Her husband Richard has some info in a post over at his blog "The Midland Agrarian" (you may have to google that to find him. Her site was, as you know, a great wealth of information and is very missed by me and many others.

  • @MrDieselOnly Oh no! Say it ain't true!!! I am subscribed to her blog, getting each entry as an e-mail. I know she said at the beginning of summer that she would be too busy to make many entries, and so I didn't think too much of not getting e-mails from her site, but I've been looking forward to her return any time now. Darnit!!!! At least I saved many (most) of her blog entries.

  • You are too FUNNY! "A dieters nightmare and a Dentists dream!!!" HA! HA! Loved that! Great idea on canning the candy.

The kids and dog looked adorable.

  • Another way to seal jars is to put them in a Foodsaver container.. one tall enough to put the jar in and seal.. when the seal is done.. take off the hose. push the button and it will seal the jar.. You can do this with even store opened jars like pickles etc. Chocolate chips will last for a very long time in sealed jars.. God Bless!

  • You ahve candy for 6 months after you buy it??? :) I have 3 boys and a hubby it dont last that long!

  • @nagaempress That's a hiding problem. ; )

  • i love your videos you have the best videos i wish i lived out in the country but i live in the city but i do breed rabbits and rats and i have two big beautifull red tail boa's my self i plann on breeding with another snake down the road. but yeah i love the country and i hate the city i was raised out in the boun docks and loved it out there then we moved to the city

which we live next door to a couple of crazy people haha.

  • @pitbulllover45 Are you my neighbor? ; )

  • I have absolutely no candy from Halloween because we didnt buy any and didn't get any trick or treaters and we don't have kids. but I'm planning to send hubby to take advantage of any after Halloween candy sales so I'm really glad I saw this video, thanks.

  • @AnnieNM06 I have the same plan! Thanks for the great idea MSP! :)

  • Stick the candy in mylar bags and store in a bucket labeled bean sprouts or something that the kids wouldn't know is candy or confuse for real food. Seeing the candy in jars maybe to tempting to people to eat. We have a candy tax the kids have to pay every halloween. We do the candy sales after each holiday too. We keep some candy in an insulated box and then sell the candy back to the kids when they want to buy some from the store.

  • @MrsNewAmericaNow "Stick the candy in mylar bags and store in a bucket labeled bean sprouts. . ." ROFL! Oh, we think alike.

  • great machine Renee! how much does it cost? (i'm finally back online, and forgot how to type:-)

  • @fatpius Sally! It's so good to see a comment from you! Are you all settled? Tim picked out and bought this model, so I had to google it to see what it cost (After I kinda broke the other one, I didn't want to know what the replacement cost!) Anyway, Amazon has it for under $80 right now!!

  • @Michigansnowpony thanks so much. Yes, finalllly settled and looking forward to being warm and connected this winter~~~~~ whew, long 15 months. I definitely want one now that i have most of the other prepper items. Goood to be back.

  • Thanks Renee for this tip. I will go crazy in shtf without chocolate. : )

  • @goosearrow Grow chocolate mint, it has a slight taste of chocolate. It seems girls taste the chocolate more than boys.

  • @MrsNewAmericaNow I have chocolate mint, but had to put it into a pot because it just took over everything. Man that stuff is prolific. Do you make tea leaves with yours? And yes, we girls DO taste chocolate more than the boys. See, it's a birth defect. It's not our fault. LOL

  • @Michigansnowpony LOL, I can live with that defect! I put a tiny choc mint in my 3tire pot, it now looks like a mint waterfall...lol. I keep cutting, it keeps growing. I was told if you want mint to grow, plant it where it would be walked on. I've never tried it because the mints just take off. I've only eaten the choc mint fresh. It should be really good in coffee.

  • @goosearrow I am a candy-holic. And I'm hardcore. Don't be giving me that Skittles crap, give me something with chocolate, caramel, nuts, nouget -- you know, the good stuff. If I was a homeless person, my sign would say "Will work for Snickers".
