  • Thanks for posting, I have an eight year old PMU baby that is smart and a great trail horse. Although he has conformational faults such as ewe neck and he has poor feet, he has been a good horse that I started from halter. There are tens of thousands of these horses that can be 'rescued' and made into great horses. Mine has gone over 2'6" and endless trails, and lovingly protects his miniature 'brother.'

  • Female humans who ingest premarin need to just learn to be aging females and just humanely deal with menopause...

Mares should not ever have to suffer like this for the sake of your convenience.

  • I think there are still PMU farms in the US as well..

  • Looks like I can't post a link. Go to our Web site, redrover.org, and search for "adopt a PMU horse." This will bring up the list.

  • Hi Wellington, check out the Web page for a list of PMU horse rescuers.

  • MY first horse, an Arabian had cancer, but he went to a very good home, basically to live out his remaining years in pasture and as a pet. I had heard about these Premarin horses, and I never knew that the conditions that these horses are kept in are horrific. It is a lot worse than i ever thought! Today, my friend asked me if I would consider adopting a PMU horse, and before I even saw this video, my answer was YES, Absolutely!!!How do I get one of these PMU horses to CO??

  • That is wonderful, Lyhraify -- thanks for giving him a second chance!

  • My mother and I rescued a PMU colt from a farm that was closed down for good in Canada. The Pegasus Foundation helped us get our wonderful boy. he was 1 1/2 years old when we got him, and had never had human contact. Despite that he ajusted to life as a pampered horse with flying colors. He was one of the best horses I have ever owned, and I was sad to see him go, but we couldn't keep him anymore. He went to a wonderful family who still gives him all the love he needs and more.

  • Clyde (my friends clydstale) was a PMU baby that they rescued at an auction (since they sell the babies as soon as their born) He is a great horse

  • I will adopt one if there is any available

  • My barn has a couple of horses that were PMU rescues, and they are amazing. They go to horse shows, do lessons, and go trail riding. You would never know they came from such conditions.

  • this is what should be done, i want a horse so bad and people do this and make me happy to know how they adopted them.

  • It's horrable how they treat those horses is their.Just wish I could rescue them all out of slaughter & abuse etc & look after them & give them a life ! :/ xx

  • So sad!

  • I just wish everyone would reilize that the PMU industry has changed, for the better. They keep saying the farmer are miss treating these horses when thats not true. Why would you miss treat something that is your livelyhood. Pictures in this vedeo are from a long time ago, it is much better now. But I do encourage people to buy PMU colts and mares. I'm sure the farmmers would rather sell their horses to peole who would use them then to the meat buyers. People are just trying to make a living.

  • @RebelsBroomball Yes but ripping mothers away from their children is no way to make a living. Forcing mares to go back into foal just days after they newborn as been taken away is once again no way to make a living. Find a different method for making money.

  • The PMU mare I rescued was delivered on the same load as the mares in this video, and she is the best horse in the world. I highly recommend adopting PMU horses!

  • Where??
