I think you don't need a 5870 X2 to beat a GTX 295 .....you can do it with a normal 5870 .

To TheFabioSTi a 5870 perfroms very close to 295 but it has only 1 core.. 295 have 2 cores witch means that 5870 have a more powerful core. If you had 5870 in 4 way crossfire it would perform much better than 4 cores from 295. sorry about my english (:

I don't think these "X2" cards will be realesed so soon, ATI did this as a marked interest, the DX11 API isn't even half way done, but the real potential of the card still needs to be proven, maybe Nvidia is beting on their new card, but will rather wait for the DX11 to come out next year. The main advantage right now is the cost, perfomance and power usage which Nvidia doesn't have at the moment, and lets be realistic we're still in deep trouble, and the best deal is always going to win.
