i have never heard of gov360 i will have to check it out. My main point is that when most individuals vote that have never voted before they only look at the media on tv for about 2 days and then with the small tidbit (and probably one sided) of info they make an uneducated decisision. This is what our forefathers warned us about.
Actually the founding fathers did not warn us about the evils of TV
besides - I have covered dozens of Congressional races and there was little of NO TV coverage in ANY of them - so I am not sure what you are talking about - unless you are looking at Presidential elections or state ballot initiatives
No i did not say our founding fathers warned us about tv. I implied obviously not enough that they warned us about an uneducated voting class. Our real only job is to find out what the people we are voting for will vote like, and does the way they vote represent what we believe in and want? That is it. I think that first they need to have paper ballots first off. Second their should be a sample ballot sent to peoples houses or access online to see all of the items and candidates before elections
I do not agree with that at all. Majority of Americans dont vote because they believe they cannot make a impact with their vote. If you look close you will find people looking to their tv's when it gets close to vote and making an uniformed decission on whom and what to vote on. Casino's are a great example. Look around the cities that have casinos and you will see desilation on the outskirts. Yet with that knowledge my wonderful state of Ohio did not look at the fine print of what will be.
I am not disputing that voters are uninformed - quite the opposite - I maintain that the majority of people that do not vote would make better decisions than the ones who currently DO vote. The problem is that the critical non-voter is unaware that they are in the Majority - thanks to the MEDIA - so they continue to throw away their enormous power - though there is a lot going on with the "tea party movement" and the baby boomers finally starting to vote - some for the first time at age 60
the positive thing about the "tea party stuff" is that it is exactly what GOV360 is all about - people getting involved and organizing on the ground level to take over government from with-in - and were it to happen - Such would be the next revolution - and it will be televised right here on youtube.
well i do wish people would educate themselves before they vote, so i cannot agree with something such as a get out the vote. I know my everyday friends that pay more attention to tthe next b-ball game or pick your sport game and think the outcome of the game is more important to them than what a politician can do to them. I see the reality of the situation and try to inform and challenge them to look a bit deeper and get an informed descision but to no avail. That is what is wrong with USA
Nope - THOSE "lazy" people are the Minority - MOST non-voters that I meet are people who make a decision NOT to vote - the majority of non-voters are already informed enough to NOT choose the same old thing - IF they would vote
maybe you should not have a get out the vote push, it should maybe be a get informed before you vote. Look at the last election and understand that the individuals voting had no idea or a very vague idea of what the candidates even stood for. I did not like either candidates. Think about all the people in this great country and really these are the smartest and most honest people to elect. Look back at our history and notice with information at our fingertips our population is dumb.
Yes - that is what I do - I inform people who are obvioulsly uninformed - people who think of the word VOTE and it equates to Obama or McCain - these sheeplike people who ONLY think inside a limited framework that is created for them by the MEDIA - Those are the people I want to target - for two reasons - they are the majority of PEOPLE (not voters - but people) and they would make better choices if they did vote in local and state elections - all politics is local - you know that - obviously.
Just curious, who do you recommend as the peace candidate, now that Obama has maintained his stance of invading Pakistan while McCain is speaking in terms of respecting the sovereignty of Pakistan? Personally, I actually think preventing a group from driving car bombs into street markets is a move for peace. So, on this issue Obama wins points.
well - I actually do not endorse any candidate - I leave that to you to decide - but you seem to be doing a pretty good job - you are the most informed voter I have talked to recently - are you a subscriber - I never know because it takes too long to go through all of mine - but if not please join
Ty, I find it curious antiwar people who hear the question I just asked tend to give Obama a free pass. In one group discussion I was in recently I asked, if Obama invaded Pakistan as per his stated intent, would he still have your support? Overwhelmingly, they said yes. Why do you suppose that might be?
the question you asked was who is a peace candidate - and I can NOT answer that for you - if someone complains that Obama is not a peace candidate - I tell them to consider Cynthia McKinney - because the Green party does not support any war at all - but then as you say there may be a need for militiary action - in which case, what would McKinney do - I so not know the answer to that. your next question has a much easier answer - Obama is the mainstream candidate that people know about
Cynthia McKinny was in my district here in the Atlanta area. She was voted out for a good reason. During her career of making every issue about race, including blaming 9-11 on whites, she was collecting financial donations from Arab and or Muslim contributors. I think only 3 of her financial supporters were from Georgia. The rest were Dearborn MI, and Saudi. Her only legislative achievement was to have a post office named after her. Even the NAACP was disgusted with her.
wow - so you are informed to a great degree - yes - I think McKinney is a good peace candidate for some people to vote for - but I do not endorse her - I never say much negative about ANY candidate - it is more the focus of the media - I am the anti-media
Wouldn't miss it. I figure those that don't participate have no right to complain. That includes the primaries as well, of course. I don't like the result, but I did show at the polls for them.
Actually I settled for a nice shot of Rebel Yell - on the rocks. It seemed more appropriate.
Your heart is in the right place, and I look forward to talking to you more. Please have a look at my videos. Perhaps they will help you understand better where I am coming from.
And I'm glad you're not taking down this video. I know what it's like to work hard on something and then have people shoot it down. We're artists, and we're sensitive. Besides, the basic message of your video is absolutely correct - more people DO need to be involved. I just hope it's not too late for that.
I would love to continue this conversation off line if you're interrested. Just contact me through my YT account.
I guess you have asked that question repeatedly (sorry)... and my answer is this: There is no formal plan to fight back that I am aware of - but we do know that there is a formal plan where the government will turn against us - in fact, they've already begun. I will not sit idol when this fight reaches my state, my city, my street, nor my doorstep. I will stand and fight a Second American Revolution and defend this country - just as our forefathers did.
Let me tell you something kid, I haven't missed an election in 26 years. Will I vote? Absolutely. Will it count? I doubt it.
You know what's sad? We're both on the same side, but the media and this corrupt government has succeeded in dividing us. We both know the system is broken. You still believe that democracy can work, while I believe that we must fight in order to get it back. Trust me, I like your vision a whole lot better than mine... I just don't believe in it any more.
"I block people who use bad language - becasue I want my nephew to read these comments and he is 12"
...Now THIS speaks volumes as to where you're coming from. You only want to believe the scowered version because reality burns your eyes. He's 12... trust me, he knows all the dirty words by now.
Yes, of course , duly noted, and of course all the evils of the universe are attributable to America, I am sure. However, there is that little issue of Hitler. Would you have condemned Hitler and supported the fight against his conquest of Europe, or would you condemn the allied forces for their involvement in "war"? Simpleminded wishfull thinking did not work for Chamberlain, and it would work for you eithor.
voteforpeace- sorry for the spelling errors. I hit the post button by accident.
I think we are in agreement. My point is that the democrat and republican parties control the whole process and we the majority are divided into small insignificant groups who remain locked out of the process all together.
Check out Nader's videos about the Super Rally in Denver to open the debates.
As long as dems. and reps. control the air waves no one else is taken seriously.
of course - I am subscriber - Nader has been a hero since I met him in 1976 in VA - now, seriously though - this is the most important issue - NAder, McKinney, Barr -in the debates is VERY important! But untill we wake people up to the FACTS about turnout - nothing will change - becasue 43% in 2006 was actually 5% higher than the previous mid-term - imagine if turnout were 60% in 2010- maybe then things would start to change - so as crazy as it may seem .... more independents in Congress
More independents in the US House would go a lot further than anything else - now - How do you achieve any of this? Turnout turnout turnout - it should be the number one issue the only issue I would run on if I were running - (which I am as a write-in - in my district) - now - the thing is - why do they NOT talk about turnout?? - go look at the featured video on my channel - it is ONLY 44 seconds - watch it closely and think - can you find Nader saying that - send me the video!!
I know more than that - I know WORLD history -here is proof - you can not name one time in history that there has been a violent revolution - that started with people sitting around talking about it randomly in an unorganized fashion - in fact there has never been such a revolution before millions were starving - so - if you want revolution - you will have to wait untill 10 or 20 million die from STARVATION - check your history pal - buddy friend
The United States isn't the world. You need to read your Revolutionary War history again because it started pretty much with "a bunch of people sitting around and talking about it randomly"... The colonists weren't starving either, they were simply tired of being ruled by an oppressive government.
You cannot be successful in guarding the American way of life if you don't understand the spirit of the men and women who built it in the first place.
Wake up and vote AGAINST IT ALL - run for office to stand up to it all and stop sitting around talkiing crap that you have NO pLAN for - I HAVE ASKED YOU FIVE TIME NOW WHAT THE PLAN IS - NO ANSWER - as usual - it is not that people are lazy - you and I could go on and on for DAYS - so you are obviously NOT lazy - c'moan WAKE UP TO THE NWO agenda
Umm... I woke up to the NWO agenda a very long time ago. I'd love to vote and have it count. Unfortunately, the NWO folk that you so proudly wave in front of everyone's face to promote your agenda have made it so neither your vote nor mine will ever matter.
So, vote all you want. It wont mean squat until these fuckers are dealt with.
That's a lovely sentiment, but complete fantasy, my friend. The neocons have stolen two presidential elections in eight years, do you really believe that 100 million more votes is going to make a change?
100 million bullets, maybe. Enought talk, this country is going down the shit hole, and fast.
all well and good. but even when the majority votes against war, they are overridden. invariably. voting in itself is useless in this country. it really is. i'm sorry, i am. but what such subverted participation may do is increase the level of frustration to the point of actual action that topples criminal government. ironically, getting out to vote may well indirectly lead to voices being heard.
ah hah - that is JSUT IT - see? you say voting is useless - but`I am showing evidence that we have NOT been voting - so your agrguement is based on a falsehood that the MEDIA seems to perpetuate - please stay tuned
Do you realize that sometimes it is necessary to stand up to a bully in order to prevent a long dragged out ordeal? Had the international community demonstrated some backbone in 37', ww2 may have been averted.
nt funny - Hitler was funded by the UBC international bank founded by Avril Harrimon and partner PRescott Bush son of Sam Bush - secretary of military industry for Hoover after WW1 - see??
oh please. The international community opposed his claim for landed,a nd then in an effort to avoid all out war appeased him with land. Chamberlain then made his famous announcement "we have achieved peace in our time". Shortly afterwards ww2 broke out with massive attacks from Hitler. Appeasement does not work, strength of resolve does. If enemies perceive no willingness to fight than you will have a war. That is the lesson you need understand.
Personally, I think the only way we end "War" on a long term basis is to vote the Democrats and Republicans(or should I say Repubicrats) out of office and vote for either Ron Paul,Ralph Nader, or Cynthia McKinney for President. Reason being is that this Congress is going to present a blank check to Obama(who wants to simply shift the "War on Terror to Afghanistan) or McCain who simply wants a "War on Terror" across the Middle East. We need to depose the "Two Party System!!
Me vote for Obama? - first of all - this video is about the power people have to change things in Washington - and that means electing a better CONGRESS - this has nothing to do with Obama.
I agree that it is important to participate in elections. However, it is grossly simplistic to assume all wars and conflicts are a moral failure. No one wants war. The people who choose to oppose tyranny, do so because they know the cost is greater if ignored. IN short, if you aren't paying attention to current events and you're ignorant of history stay home. "an educated electorate was essential if their Republic was to survive" Thomas Jefferson
Let me see if I got this right. You want the uninformed I don't give a shit, non-voters to go out and vote. Yeah that's a great idea. Lets let the dumb fu**s decide who should run this country.
are u kidding me? have you talked to ANY of the MILLIONS of Non-voters here on yt?? - go to their channels - and then tell me who is dumb THINK THINK THINK
Basically HALF of all registered people actually VOTE -
and what happens is a lot of registered non-voters are turned off by the MEDIA and the system - they are NOT dumb or lazy -they put a LOT of energy into their youtube channels - meanwhile the few that do vote are the dumb ones - look what they FOR - it is pretty friggin dumb
Ron Paul's movement has spawned The Campaign for Liberty which will be officially kicked off at the Rally for the Republic on Sept 2nd. Yes, I'm going.
Has Kucinich started something like that? Just wondering, because I'll join it also. You're definitely right that we need a movement to change the parties from within.
I think for an independent party to break through, we need to fuse the Libertarian party together with the Greens. It's either that or Ventura 2012!!!!
What we need is to go search around and EVERYONE FIND a ron paul Jesse Ventura or Dennis Kucinich to vote for in your district - for US House of Reps - when we have 100 of these folks in there - THEN things will change in Washington
If you are going to run, or help a candidate run, start on the local level. Why? Door to door and community campaigning in an election with smaller amounts of eligible voters will win the election.
Also, demand that your votes be counted by witnessed hand counts. These electronic voting machines are strictly designed to steal elections and subdue the will of the people.
Once you have won local elections, use that grassroots base for state and national. There it is, my fellow citizens.
The guy in the video has a good heart, but seems a little lost. The answers are:
1. To have national referendums that have teeth.
2. End campaign financing. Control of the mass media through "campaign financing" scams makes it easy for the major networks to censor and control free speech. This smothers candidates who are true Americans and really do believe in freedom and civil liberties - candidates like Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul.
The elections are rigged, everyone should know this by know. Do you really believe that Bush won fair and square in 2000 and 2004? No of course not. But both sides cheat, it's just that Bush was better at it.
The important thing that you need understand is that the candidates that we are given are only puppets, they don't have full control of what goes on in America.
Do some research into the International Bankers like the Rothschild and you will see what I'm talking about.
Muslims and Shaira: if an uncle rapes his brothers daughter that is 7 years old...it is the responsibility of the father to kill his 7 year old daughter because she brought shame on her family. wow...great religion. Mohammed married a little girl AND has sex with her. sorry...I'm all for killing the enemy.
it was a shame that we had people die on 9/11 but it's not that big a deal that we have to go to war over. yeah...sorry it is and we MUST eradicate that entire GROUP/cult. They even kill their own daughters with so called honor killings.
Well I know I'm going to vote to protect this country. It used to be that both parties WANTED to protect this country. My neighbor is a liberal and she said "It really wasn't that big a deal that they attacked us on 9/11...20,000 people dead just isn't enough to go to war over...it's sad is all it is" Well WE NEED to protect this country against muslims. NO to Obama and NO to Sharia laws.
I agree with fluxrostrum on paper trails, run off vote tallying (though i haven't researched it, Nader is for it, and he's won my trust), and somehow stopping the complicit MNM/ministry of propaganda from telling us how to vote. As for Kucinich, I've heard that charge against him from other people too. I've wrestled with that, and I'm still not sure. After all, he has introduced impeachment resolutions and even got a committee convened. Regardless, I think we ought to unite behind Nader.
Sounds like alot of fakey made up bullshit to me! The media tells people there was a big turn out to prevent people from turning out? People are either going to vote or there not, makes no difference how many people they think
are going to be there. They either don't care enough and stay home,or they go and do there part. Both groups are going to bitch about the
There was a question mark true but phrased as a rhetorical question,"you are a non voter?" Come now let's not be coy. As for am I a subscriber wouldn't you all ready know that answer as it's your channel? (yes that is rhetorical). And if you couldn't tell without consulting your profile wouldn't my post be a little hint? I don't own a tinfoil hat and although I believe the media is biased, don't buy into your conspiracy bullshit! I should have known better then to post here
But what leads you to believe the five people in your diagram who don't give a crap right now would vote against war? What persuades you that the 3-2 voting split wouldn't turn into 8-2, or (statistically more likely) 6-4?
shitslinger1: "The vote is meaningless without absolute participation of eligible voters. Voter turnout is pitiful."
So suggest something.
"In Australia, voter registration and attendance at a polling booth have been mandatory since the 1920s... If a Bolivian voter fails to participate in an election, the citizen may be denied withdrawal of their salary from the bank for three months." (Wikipedia, "voter turnout")
The best chance to take back America is to most definitely shit can the Big Two parties.
Trying to work the system will never work. It is gamed and nothing that the citizenry does can change that, except to bail totally from those two parties.
Showing the constitution is nice and all, but when this country was formed, the last thing the founders had in mind was a two party system.
You purposefully said that we need to work within the two parties.
I think you are wrong. The two parties is the problem.
Wonder why most don't vote? Because they know that their vote is relatively worthless and even if they do, it can be manipulated and even made uncountable.
Both parties alienate the other party's constituency. Thugs are worse than dems, but they both participate.
The fact that it is these two parties that are the primary rationale for disallowing a third party candidate to even be a part of the presidential debates should be proof enough.
There is a third party in most states and a fourth in some. Your arguments don't hold water BuelahMan. Just because they are not popular is no reason to claim they do not exist.
I say there are the Big Two parties which are really only one party.
All the other fringe parties don't get the air play.
It has nothing to do with popularity, but with the fact that those who control the Big Two disallow any real competition from arising.
You can claim there are 1,000,000 parties, but if those with the money and power are able to keep them out of public view, they really amount to nothing.
You and your insistence (nor this video) helps change shit. It keeps it status quo.
Their vote is worthless only in their own eyes. The voters have had a choice between abound 20 people between the two parties. Their choices ran from the most right leaning to the most left leaning and included an anarchist. There were plenty of choices.
Well good that you are finished with your bullshit. The rest of us are tired of your pea brain on the one track headed into obscurity. Just because you are powerless and too weak to make a change, doesn't mean that the world agrees with you.
You are paranoid about "the system". I bet you have nightmares at night about "them".
shut up. Fox news says everything is okay. War is good. Economic collapse is okay. Don't vote. be passive. smile while your kids march off to war. Smile while your retirement funds are stolen by Wall Street hucksters. Smile when your home is foreclosed. Be a passive a cog in the War machine. Watch Fox News and believe every word they say. Stop thinking and go back to sleep.
Bush had no time in Obama has no time in how many people are there to pick from this is the problem. voting for the war! I think its really a vote for American not looking like cowards. May be we should vote for America not spending 102 Billion dollars on other countries poor. People are dying because we are at war they attacked us they killed us first. we pick a places and had a war. But we picked a places where the leader killed babies little kids mommies and ever one cries about Darfur why
Fuck I was stoned on my ergotamine pills when I watched this. I sent it to my friends. Now that I've sobered up...man, this guy is a liberal douche bag.
You had me until you mentioned Paul & Kucinich. Paul is a nutjob, Kucinich is a Communist. Then you said 30% (of some unknown party...) will "always vote for war." What kind of numbskull statement is that?
So let's say, hypothetically of course, that Russian soldiers were coming ashore & parachuting in & bombing our cities. You wouldn't vote for war. Or am I totally wrong on this?
You ultra-Liberal lying jerk. Conservatives are not trying to "defeat" other Americans. But you are. Nice move!
That remaining 57% are playing video games, watching "American Idol" and/or trying to get on the show, reading fashion magazines, watching "Entertainment Tonight," reading the National Enquirer, making their own rap songs, making their own porn movies, and taking drugs.
Wait... hold on... You need to realize that people who have been caged or denied their right to vote are part of that 47% of "non voters".
All one needs to do is look at the last two presidential elections in order to see that our entire election system is rigged - PERIOD!
You want change? Stop treating this like a fucking football game, go out buy a gun, and join the 2nd American Revolution, because the shit is about to hit the fan.
All one needs to do is look at the last two presidential elections in order to see that our entire election system is rigged - PERIOD!"
If you live in Seattle(like in your profile,) I see where you are coming from. It's a different atmosphere than in... the heartland, Florida, and every other red state there is. Trust me, you don't see Bush's low approval rating over there.
I believe people are not turning out becuase we have the same options on both sides.
Obama an McBush both voted for
War funding for Iraq through June 2009
FISA
THe Patriot act
National Ids (real Id Act)
Both will keep troops in over 130 Countires Policing the World Costing us 1 Trillion a year that we are Barrowing 1.4 Billion EACH DAY from China/japan and others in INTREST ALONE
And BOth call FOr a troop Surge after Iraq into Afghanistan
no, wildwilly1111, NoGuff could not elaborate on his comment because he uses the RepublicanT tactic of obfuscation. Notice that most of what he spewed here had little to do with the actual topic being discussed. He just throws out random nonsense.
Be that as it may, NoGuff seems to imply that "military personnel serving in combat" are unable to vote. I have always believed that they could, and if there is any reason to be disabused of that notion, I would welcome it.
"look at the last two presidential elections in order to see that our entire election system is rigged"
--Oh yeah, the last two presidential elections, but of course NOT the midterm elections. Right? Yes, whenever a Republican wins an election it's totally rigged, but when a Democrat wins it's a "fair and legitimate democratic process." Right?
NO - Gosh people wake up to the FACTS - ONLY 43% of we the people voted in 2006 and only 50% voted in 2000 - the FACT is people have NOT been voting - that is why these bozos -in both parties keep winning - WAKE up to the NWO agenda - this is how it works - KEEP TUNOUT LOW - is the #1 agenda - that way they don't have 100 million votes to try to rig or block - they already don't count - GET IT??
--Well, it's a fact that midterm elections draw a smaller crowd than those elections where there's a presidential vote. The '92 & '96 votes were around 43%. And so more & more people have been voting. In fact, the 2004 elections had the highest turnout ever, I think. So 43% for midterms is a lot. I'm not saying it's great, just far better than usual. It's a fact that George W. Bush was voted into office with the highest popular vote in American history.
mostly your facts are WRONG - the highest turnout in the last 80 years was 1960 (63%)- 2004 it was only 57% - I am waiting for you to do or say SOMETHING THAT IS TRUE and productive - in themeantime - I would rather wait till 10 AM
"the highest turnout in the last 80 years was 1960 (63%)- 2004 it was only 57%"
--I wrote the highest popular vote, meaning actual votes, not percentage. I think we have a higher population now than in 1960. Though I don't see why more people don't vote, they just don't care to.
No, NoGuff, it is you who spreads lies and nonsense and bullshit wherever you go. That is the policy of the right wingnuts. Now McCaain is doing it too. Karl Rove has taught you well. You learned that if you repeat lies loud and long enough, some people begin to believe.
"Saddam Husein was responsible for 9/11/01" - Can you guys lie this one more times?
"Which is meaningless without normalizing for population growth."
--I'll clue you in to something called "math." You see, when more people are in a population, then there are more people who are potential voters. See? More people means more people. So I don't think much analysis is needed to understand.
NoGuff: "I'll clue you in to something called 'math.'"
Thanks for the heads-up!
In a dicussion largely centered on the greater or lesser percentage of the populating voting, saying that "Bush was voted into office with the highest popular vote in American history" adds little, if any, value.
It's like Brit Hume saying Iraq is no more dangerous than California because they have roughly the same area.
Faulty critical analysis is a large part of the problem with current political discourse.
--Isn't it a complaint of Liberals that too many stupid people vote, which is why we have George W. Bush? So, given that smarter people are more politically active, how would getting more people to vote help, according to your philosophy?
But aside from that, the idea that "they" want to keep the turnout low doesn't make any sense. If more people were politically active party membership would grow, political donations would grow, their power & influence would grow, etc.
look - since you are SUDDENLY not being insulting - I will argue with you - you are wrong that more people voting would give the party more power - WHAT PARTY - if more people wote - they would mostly REJECT THE PARTIES
No, NoGuff, as usual you mis-characterize those people who are progressive. It is the conservatives who want low turnout becase when it is high, it is urban and young people who participate more. The old and decrepit and the right wing nuts almost always vote.
The reason we have Dumbya is because the Republicans manipulated the vote in Florida and the supreme court is packed with his father's conservatives who refused to stop that theft.
"The reason we have Dumbya is because the Republicans manipulated the vote in Florida"
--Yeah, right. There's always a convenient excuse for when Liberals don't get votes. It MUST be voter fraud.
"supreme court is packed with his father's conservatives"
--Is this the same court that went against the President several times in a row these past couple of years? Oh yeah, Bush41 nominated David Souter. What a Nazi he turned out to be, huh?
The recent Court decisions (very few out of the total) that have gone against Dumbya is because they, like the rest of the world now see through the lies, deceptions and traitorous machinations of his disgusting administration that is trying to usurtp the constitution.
"The recent Court decisions (very few out of the total) that have gone against Dumbya is because they, like"
--Soo......if the Court was "packed by his father with Conservatives," how could this have happened? This is called getting smacked in the ass because all you have are lies and propaganda and bullshit to offer in a debate of facts and reason.
Does NoGuff understand logic? I said even the packed court got tired of Dumbya's bullshit. Which word did you not understand? You lose again, as you do every time.
If the MEDIA wanted people to vote - THEY WOULD - the evidence that they don't want you to vote is in the fact that average turnout is 50% - for the LAST 60 YEARS
the evidence is in the fact that 50 million registered people DO NOT VOTE - what happens between when they get registered and election day - the MEDIA happens - the proof is in all the negativity from the MEDIA- it TURNS PEOPLE OFF - get real - look at the TRUTH - look beyond the MEDIA LIES
voteforpeace08: "If the MEDIA wanted people to vote - THEY WOULD"
The chain of causality in your argument appears weak: small turnout proves that MSM doesn't want large turnout.
A government report on the 2002 election is more revealing: "Among registered nonvoters in 2002, about 27 percent reported they did not vote because they were too busy or had conflicting work or school schedules." Not a great excuse, but at least it's backed up by a study. (TinyURL 5rceq2)
OK - here is another TRY - How about the fact that in California in 2006 you could CALL on the phone - or (go on line - if you are beyond using the phone) - and get a ballot sent to your HOUSE - Yet TURNOUT WAS 27% in CA in 2006 -- HA HA - gocha?
OK, even if I accept that CA turnout in 2006 was 27% (citing your source would lend *A LOT* to this conversation) and that a large chunk of CA voters lied about why they didn't vote - what makes this an MSM conspiracy to keep them away from the polls? You still have demonstrated even an inkling of a possible explanation of causality.
voteforpeace08: "If everyone played football there would be no market for espn"
Doesn't jive with my personal experience. The most rabid fans through high school and college were those who actually played on teams.
Also defies human behavior - do you honestly believe the non-voter would be more interested in how the rest of the country voted, than the voter would?
MEANS and OPPORTUNITY - look how they vastly distort the turnout in the primary - they make it appear as if THIS is going to be a BIG turnout year - FALSE - turnout in the primary was triple what it was in 2004 - but in 2004 it was 11% - so 33% is STILL PRETTY LOW - but the MEDIA used their MEANS to keep turnout low by keeping awareness (of the truth) low - they make it seem like people are voting -ironically so people don't think THEY need to vote - see?
MSM pumps up drama and controversy to increase viewership, and not just in politics.
I guess you could make a weak arg that falsely reporting large turnout might get some to tune in to see what they're missing, and some not to vote, thinking others are taking care of business.
But it seems like one could get the same reaction by falsely reporting a high turn out, or correctly reporting a high turnout, which requires no conspiracy. Apply Occam's Razor.
so you failed the test of rational logic when you said your football fans were XPLAYERS - se -they are NOT CURRENTLY PLAYING - so that fits with my logic - too bad you had to go down to such a weak arguement - all I ever HAD was a theory - not FACT - so you lose - but thanks so much for playing
i have never heard of gov360 i will have to check it out. My main point is that when most individuals vote that have never voted before they only look at the media on tv for about 2 days and then with the small tidbit (and probably one sided) of info they make an uneducated decisision. This is what our forefathers warned us about.
allwayswithlove 2 years ago
Actually the founding fathers did not warn us about the evils of TV
besides - I have covered dozens of Congressional races and there was little of NO TV coverage in ANY of them - so I am not sure what you are talking about - unless you are looking at Presidential elections or state ballot initiatives
gov360dotorg 2 years ago
No i did not say our founding fathers warned us about tv. I implied obviously not enough that they warned us about an uneducated voting class. Our real only job is to find out what the people we are voting for will vote like, and does the way they vote represent what we believe in and want? That is it. I think that first they need to have paper ballots first off. Second their should be a sample ballot sent to peoples houses or access online to see all of the items and candidates before elections
allwayswithlove 2 years ago
I do not agree with that at all. Majority of Americans dont vote because they believe they cannot make a impact with their vote. If you look close you will find people looking to their tv's when it gets close to vote and making an uniformed decission on whom and what to vote on. Casino's are a great example. Look around the cities that have casinos and you will see desilation on the outskirts. Yet with that knowledge my wonderful state of Ohio did not look at the fine print of what will be.
allwayswithlove 2 years ago
I am not disputing that voters are uninformed - quite the opposite - I maintain that the majority of people that do not vote would make better decisions than the ones who currently DO vote. The problem is that the critical non-voter is unaware that they are in the Majority - thanks to the MEDIA - so they continue to throw away their enormous power - though there is a lot going on with the "tea party movement" and the baby boomers finally starting to vote - some for the first time at age 60
gov360dotorg 2 years ago
the positive thing about the "tea party stuff" is that it is exactly what GOV360 is all about - people getting involved and organizing on the ground level to take over government from with-in - and were it to happen - Such would be the next revolution - and it will be televised right here on youtube.
gov360dotorg 2 years ago
well i do wish people would educate themselves before they vote, so i cannot agree with something such as a get out the vote. I know my everyday friends that pay more attention to tthe next b-ball game or pick your sport game and think the outcome of the game is more important to them than what a politician can do to them. I see the reality of the situation and try to inform and challenge them to look a bit deeper and get an informed descision but to no avail. That is what is wrong with USA
allwayswithlove 2 years ago
Nope - THOSE "lazy" people are the Minority - MOST non-voters that I meet are people who make a decision NOT to vote - the majority of non-voters are already informed enough to NOT choose the same old thing - IF they would vote
gov360dotorg 2 years ago
maybe you should not have a get out the vote push, it should maybe be a get informed before you vote. Look at the last election and understand that the individuals voting had no idea or a very vague idea of what the candidates even stood for. I did not like either candidates. Think about all the people in this great country and really these are the smartest and most honest people to elect. Look back at our history and notice with information at our fingertips our population is dumb.
allwayswithlove 2 years ago
Yes - that is what I do - I inform people who are obvioulsly uninformed - people who think of the word VOTE and it equates to Obama or McCain - these sheeplike people who ONLY think inside a limited framework that is created for them by the MEDIA - Those are the people I want to target - for two reasons - they are the majority of PEOPLE (not voters - but people) and they would make better choices if they did vote in local and state elections - all politics is local - you know that - obviously.
gov360dotorg 2 years ago
Just curious, who do you recommend as the peace candidate, now that Obama has maintained his stance of invading Pakistan while McCain is speaking in terms of respecting the sovereignty of Pakistan? Personally, I actually think preventing a group from driving car bombs into street markets is a move for peace. So, on this issue Obama wins points.
seneca67 3 years ago
well - I actually do not endorse any candidate - I leave that to you to decide - but you seem to be doing a pretty good job - you are the most informed voter I have talked to recently - are you a subscriber - I never know because it takes too long to go through all of mine - but if not please join
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
Ty, I find it curious antiwar people who hear the question I just asked tend to give Obama a free pass. In one group discussion I was in recently I asked, if Obama invaded Pakistan as per his stated intent, would he still have your support? Overwhelmingly, they said yes. Why do you suppose that might be?
seneca67 3 years ago
the question you asked was who is a peace candidate - and I can NOT answer that for you - if someone complains that Obama is not a peace candidate - I tell them to consider Cynthia McKinney - because the Green party does not support any war at all - but then as you say there may be a need for militiary action - in which case, what would McKinney do - I so not know the answer to that. your next question has a much easier answer - Obama is the mainstream candidate that people know about
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
Cynthia McKinny was in my district here in the Atlanta area. She was voted out for a good reason. During her career of making every issue about race, including blaming 9-11 on whites, she was collecting financial donations from Arab and or Muslim contributors. I think only 3 of her financial supporters were from Georgia. The rest were Dearborn MI, and Saudi. Her only legislative achievement was to have a post office named after her. Even the NAACP was disgusted with her.
seneca67 3 years ago
wow - so you are informed to a great degree - yes - I think McKinney is a good peace candidate for some people to vote for - but I do not endorse her - I never say much negative about ANY candidate - it is more the focus of the media - I am the anti-media
so - forgive me if I seem a little different

As long as dems. and reps. control the air waves no one else is taken seriously.

nowellian 3 years ago
of course - I am subscriber - Nader has been a hero since I met him in 1976 in VA - now, seriously though - this is the most important issue - NAder, McKinney, Barr -in the debates is VERY important! But untill we wake people up to the FACTS about turnout - nothing will change - becasue 43% in 2006 was actually 5% higher than the previous mid-term - imagine if turnout were 60% in 2010- maybe then things would start to change - so as crazy as it may seem .... more independents in Congress
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
More independents in the US House would go a lot further than anything else - now - How do you achieve any of this? Turnout turnout turnout - it should be the number one issue the only issue I would run on if I were running - (which I am as a write-in - in my district) - now - the thing is - why do they NOT talk about turnout?? - go look at the featured video on my channel - it is ONLY 44 seconds - watch it closely and think - can you find Nader saying that - send me the video!!

voteforpeace08 3 years ago
The United States isn't the world. You need to read your Revolutionary War history again because it started pretty much with "a bunch of people sitting around and talking about it randomly"... The colonists weren't starving either, they were simply tired of being ruled by an oppressive government.

voteforpeace08 3 years ago
Umm... I woke up to the NWO agenda a very long time ago. I'd love to vote and have it count. Unfortunately, the NWO folk that you so proudly wave in front of everyone's face to promote your agenda have made it so neither your vote nor mine will ever matter.

Do you realize that sometimes it is necessary to stand up to a bully in order to prevent a long dragged out ordeal? Had the international community demonstrated some backbone in 37', ww2 may have been averted.
seneca67 3 years ago
nt funny - Hitler was funded by the UBC international bank founded by Avril Harrimon and partner PRescott Bush son of Sam Bush - secretary of military industry for Hoover after WW1 - see??
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
That is the lesson you need understand.
seneca67 3 years ago
Personally, I think the only way we end "War" on a long term basis is to vote the Democrats and Republicans(or should I say Repubicrats) out of office and vote for either Ron Paul,Ralph Nader, or Cynthia McKinney for President. Reason being is that this Congress is going to present a blank check to Obama(who wants to simply shift the "War on Terror to Afghanistan) or McCain who simply wants a "War on Terror" across the Middle East. We need to depose the "Two Party System!!

8DoverNJ 3 years ago
What we need is to go search around and EVERYONE FIND a ron paul Jesse Ventura or Dennis Kucinich to vote for in your district - for US House of Reps - when we have 100 of these folks in there - THEN things will change in Washington
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
If you are going to run, or help a candidate run, start on the local level. Why? Door to door and community campaigning in an election with smaller amounts of eligible voters will win the election.
Also, demand that your votes be counted by witnessed hand counts. These electronic voting machines are strictly designed to steal elections and subdue the will of the people.
Once you have won local elections, use that grassroots base for state and national. There it is, my fellow citizens.
GLOBALRESISTANCE 3 years ago
The guy in the video has a good heart, but seems a little lost. The answers are:
1. To have national referendums that have teeth.
2. End campaign financing. Control of the mass media through "campaign financing" scams makes it easy for the major networks to censor and control free speech. This smothers candidates who are true Americans and really do believe in freedom and civil liberties - candidates like Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul.

The important thing that you need understand is that the candidates that we are given are only puppets, they don't have full control of what goes on in America.

As for Kucinich, I've heard that charge against him from other people too. I've wrestled with that, and I'm still not sure. After all, he has introduced impeachment resolutions and even got a committee convened. Regardless, I think we ought to unite behind Nader.

The best chance to take back America is to most definitely shit can the Big Two parties.
Trying to work the system will never work. It is gamed and nothing that the citizenry does can change that, except to bail totally from those two parties.

BuelahMan 3 years ago
Their vote is worthless only in their own eyes. The voters have had a choice between abound 20 people between the two parties. Their choices ran from the most right leaning to the most left leaning and included an anarchist. There were plenty of choices.
bobinmass 3 years ago
Why limit it to two parties, when within those two parties are the fucking problems for this country?
We did not get plenty of choices? We got what the parties wanted us to get and they pushed the meme on us that we got.

We will end up with another Military Industrial Complex president who will not help the American people.
Kucinich and Paul being kept out of the debates should show you that it is a gamed system.

Dear voteforpeace08,
A BIG Factor was left out of your equation:
When your enemies do not want Peace.
Let me simplify that for you:
Your enemy is casting their 'Vote' for peace by trying to kill you!
And, when your enemies do not want Peace, what are your choices?
-Bend over and surrender.
-Fight them until they surrender.
Yeesh.
I now feel somehow stupider for having watched this bullshit video.

Nice move!
NoGuff 3 years ago
As usual the Reich-wing nut NoGuff is trying to tar others with his own disgusting attributes like trying to defeat other Americans.
It is the christian 'wrong' like Karl Rove, the Conservative reactionary, who is the penultimate at attempting to defeating real Americans.
NoGuff is a paranoid personality who sees 'communists' in everyone who disagrees with him.
His nonsense hypthetical is laughable.
Once again, he tried to divert, obfuscate, confuse and lie - its the Conservative way!

That remaining 57% are playing video games, watching "American Idol" and/or trying to get on the show, reading fashion magazines, watching "Entertainment Tonight," reading the National Enquirer, making their own rap songs, making their own porn movies, and taking drugs.
I think that about sums it up.

Fortunately, I think a lot of the Obama diploads will be too lazy or high on election day to cast a vote.
obamasucksballs 3 years ago
Wait...

If you live in Seattle(like in your profile,) I see where you are coming from. It's a different atmosphere than in... the heartland, Florida, and every other red state there is. Trust me, you don't see Bush's low approval rating over there.
Travel more. Peace.

I disagree
I believe people are not turning out becuase we have the same options on both sides.
Obama an McBush both voted for
War funding for Iraq through June 2009
FISA
THe Patriot act
National Ids (real Id Act)
Both will keep troops in over 130 Countires Policing the World Costing us 1 Trillion a year that we are Barrowing 1.4 Billion EACH DAY from China/japan and others in INTREST ALONE
And BOth call FOr a troop Surge after Iraq into Afghanistan
WHere is the change?
Patriot4Liberty1776 3 years ago
I forgaot to add they both Back the FED Printing Money from thin air to bail out the mortgage giants or any other Crisis that comes up
If Barr, Nadar, Cynthia Mckinney or Baldwin were allowed in the major debates in the fall when people tune in our election would be very different.
Yet nobody asks why we only have two options that share almost identical voting records.

NoGuff: "Yes, like our military personnel serving in combat."
Can you elaborate on this comment?
wildwilly1111 3 years ago
no, wildwilly1111, NoGuff could not elaborate on his comment because he uses the RepublicanT tactic of obfuscation. Notice that most of what he spewed here had little to do with the actual topic being discussed. He just throws out random nonsense.
bobinmass 3 years ago
Be that as it may, NoGuff seems to imply that "military personnel serving in combat" are unable to vote. I have always believed that they could, and if there is any reason to be disabused of that notion, I would welcome it.
wildwilly1111 3 years ago
"look at the last two presidential elections in order to see that our entire election system is rigged"
--Oh yeah, the last two presidential elections, but of course NOT the midterm elections. Right? Yes, whenever a Republican wins an election it's totally rigged, but when a Democrat wins it's a "fair and legitimate democratic process." Right?
NoGuff 3 years ago
NO - Gosh people wake up to the FACTS - ONLY 43% of we the people voted in 2006 and only 50% voted in 2000 - the FACT is people have NOT been voting - that is why these bozos -in both parties keep winning - WAKE up to the NWO agenda - this is how it works - KEEP TUNOUT LOW - is the #1 agenda - that way they don't have 100 million votes to try to rig or block - they already don't count - GET IT??
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
"and only 50% voted in 2000"
--Well, it's a fact that midterm elections draw a smaller crowd than those elections where there's a presidential vote.
NoGuff 3 years ago
mostly your facts are WRONG - the highest turnout in the last 80 years was 1960 (63%)- 2004 it was only 57% - I am waiting for you to do or say SOMETHING THAT IS TRUE and productive - in themeantime - I would rather wait till 10 AM
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
"the highest turnout in the last 80 years was 1960 (63%)- 2004 it was only 57%"
--I wrote the highest popular vote, meaning actual votes, not percentage. I think we have a higher population now than in 1960. Though I don't see why more people don't vote, they just don't care to.
"I would rather wait till 10 AM"

NoGuff 3 years ago
No, NoGuff, it is you who spreads lies and nonsense and bullshit wherever you go. That is the policy of the right wingnuts. Now McCaain is doing it too. Karl Rove has taught you well. You learned that if you repeat lies loud and long enough, some people begin to believe.
"Saddam Husein was responsible for 9/11/01" - Can you guys lie this one more times?
bobinmass 3 years ago
NoGuff: "It's a fact that George W. Bush was voted into office with the highest popular vote in American history."
Which is meaningless without normalizing for population growth.
wildwilly1111 3 years ago
"Which is meaningless without normalizing for population growth."
--I'll clue you in to something called "math." You see, when more people are in a population, then there are more people who are potential voters. See? More people means more people. So I don't think much analysis is needed to understand.
NoGuff 3 years ago
Did NoGuff have to take off his shoes for that 'math'? LOL
bobinmass 3 years ago
NoGuff: "I'll clue you in to something called 'math.'"
Thanks for the heads-up!
In a dicussion largely centered on the greater or lesser percentage of the populating voting, saying that "Bush was voted into office with the highest popular vote in American history" adds little, if any, value.
It's like Brit Hume saying Iraq is no more dangerous than California because they have roughly the same area.
Faulty critical analysis is a large part of the problem with current political discourse.
wildwilly1111 3 years ago
"KEEP TUNOUT LOW"
--Isn't it a complaint of Liberals that too many stupid people vote, which is why we have George W. Bush? So, given that smarter people are more politically active, how would getting more people to vote help, according to your philosophy?
But aside from that, the idea that "they" want to keep the turnout low doesn't make any sense. If more people were politically active party membership would grow, political donations would grow, their power & influence would grow, etc.
NoGuff 3 years ago
I NEVER say that dumb people vote - The proof of that is the fact that you are a non-voter
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
look - since you are SUDDENLY not being insulting - I will argue with you - you are wrong that more people voting would give the party more power - WHAT PARTY - if more people wote - they would mostly REJECT THE PARTIES
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
No, NoGuff, as usual you mis-characterize those people who are progressive. It is the conservatives who want low turnout becase when it is high, it is urban and young people who participate more. The old and decrepit and the right wing nuts almost always vote.
The reason we have Dumbya is because the Republicans manipulated the vote in Florida and the supreme court is packed with his father's conservatives who refused to stop that theft.
bobinmass 3 years ago
"The reason we have Dumbya is because the Republicans manipulated the vote in Florida"
--Yeah, right. There's always a convenient excuse for when Liberals don't get votes. It MUST be voter fraud.
"supreme court is packed with his father's conservatives"
--Is this the same court that went against the President several times in a row these past couple of years? Oh yeah, Bush41 nominated David Souter. What a Nazi he turned out to be, huh?
NoGuff 3 years ago
The recent Court decisions (very few out of the total) that have gone against Dumbya is because they, like the rest of the world now see through the lies, deceptions and traitorous machinations of his disgusting administration that is trying to usurtp the constitution.
bobinmass 3 years ago
"The recent Court decisions (very few out of the total) that have gone against Dumbya is because they, like"
--Soo......if the Court was "packed by his father with Conservatives," how could this have happened? This is called getting smacked in the ass because all you have are lies and propaganda and bullshit to offer in a debate of facts and reason.
So you lose, again.
NoGuff 3 years ago
Does NoGuff understand logic? I said even the packed court got tired of Dumbya's bullshit. Which word did you not understand? You lose again, as you do every time.
bobinmass 3 years ago
NoGuff: "the idea that "they" want to keep the turnout low doesn't make any sense"
When was the last election in which you did not hear the nugget, "Low turnout favors Republicans"?
Certainly that is the conventional wisdom.
wildwilly1111 3 years ago

AwakenedByTyranny: "The media wants it low."
Why does the media want it low? Cite your evidence, please.
wildwilly1111 3 years ago
If the MEDIA wanted people to vote - THEY WOULD - the evidence that they don't want you to vote is in the fact that average turnout is 50% - for the LAST 60 YEARS
the evidence is in the fact that 50 million registered people DO NOT VOTE - what happens between when they get registered and election day - the MEDIA happens - the proof is in all the negativity from the MEDIA- it TURNS PEOPLE OFF - get real - look at the TRUTH - look beyond the MEDIA LIES
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
voteforpeace08: "If the MEDIA wanted people to vote - THEY WOULD"
The chain of causality in your argument appears weak: small turnout proves that MSM doesn't want large turnout.
A government report on the 2002 election is more revealing: "Among registered nonvoters in 2002, about 27 percent reported they did not vote because they were too busy or had conflicting work or school schedules." Not a great excuse, but at least it's backed up by a study. (TinyURL 5rceq2)
Please try again.
wildwilly1111 3 years ago
OK - here is another TRY - How about the fact that in California in 2006 you could CALL on the phone - or (go on line - if you are beyond using the phone) - and get a ballot sent to your HOUSE - Yet TURNOUT WAS 27% in CA in 2006 -- HA HA - gocha?
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
voteforpeace08: "here is another TRY"
OK, even if I accept that CA turnout in 2006 was 27% (citing your source would lend *A LOT* to this conversation) and that a large chunk of CA voters lied about why they didn't vote - what makes this an MSM conspiracy to keep them away from the polls? You still have demonstrated even an inkling of a possible explanation of causality.
wildwilly1111 3 years ago
MOTIVE - the MEDIA wants to keep the whole thing like a GAME - for example:
If everyone played football there would be no market for espn - nobody would watch it on TV if they were acutally playing it
same with politics - the MEDIA makes it a game to keep viewers. MOTIVE
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
voteforpeace08: "If everyone played football there would be no market for espn"
Doesn't jive with my personal experience. The most rabid fans through high school and college were those who actually played on teams.
Also defies human behavior - do you honestly believe the non-voter would be more interested in how the rest of the country voted, than the voter would?
wildwilly1111 3 years ago
MEANS and OPPORTUNITY - look how they vastly distort the turnout in the primary - they make it appear as if THIS is going to be a BIG turnout year - FALSE - turnout in the primary was triple what it was in 2004 - but in 2004 it was 11% - so 33% is STILL PRETTY LOW - but the MEDIA used their MEANS to keep turnout low by keeping awareness (of the truth) low - they make it seem like people are voting -ironically so people don't think THEY need to vote - see?
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
voteforpeace08: "see?"
Sadly, no.
Apply Occam's Razor.
wildwilly1111 3 years ago
so you failed the test of rational logic when you said your football fans were XPLAYERS - se -they are NOT CURRENTLY PLAYING - so that fits with my logic - too bad you had to go down to such a weak arguement - all I ever HAD was a theory - not FACT - so you lose - but thanks so much for playing
voteforpeace08 3 years ago
voteforpeace08: "so you failed the test of rational logic"
Sorry, I misspoke and provide you with a false sense of security:
The most rabid fans through high school and college were those who *were actually playing* on teams.
