We've already been told by a few law enforcement officials that the mayor is ready to declare Marshall Law if he has to. We're a 100% non-violent movement. But I can't speak for the thousands of other protesters expected to show up. This might be the Big One & it will be televised.
fuck off, there was a lot of people who really struggle and resist for a cause, the refuse to capitalism, there was people arrested, beaten, and you make a fucking movie and distort everything, turning it in a fucking joke
@TheSikiciCocuk Not the EU they can't handle them selves. EU gave them money for new fruit plantations they spent it fuck knows where, made 0 progress and asks for more, they believe that not paying taxes is a good sign. They want to get free shit and give nothing in return. That's not how modern world goes...
@Darius12235 With all due respect, you should better check out more about what is really going on. A lot is going very wrong in the EU - especially Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, The Netherlands etc. - and people, as always, are not seeing what is happening, unless it complies to what their news broadcast says.
@TheAthensriot Really Greece? You riot for nothing you don't pay taxes in your country and ask the rest of Europe for money, never pay back go out on streets destroy shit and ask for more...
@Darius12235 The only violence that is going on in Greece now is a corrupt government which is making choices to save banks instead of people, asking for money from the EU while mixing up details and getting away with frauds.
Greeks do NOT want EUs money, but the people cannot get heard if you don't listen to them..
I have never seen this movie but I know when WTO went to Seattle the whole town acted like they were evil. WTO was there to discuss the problems with the shrimping industry.
here in america the police beat us for protesting they gas us so we will disperse! are voices are not heard! this is freedom???? this is our liberty being stolen from us! people wake up grab you're gun and shoot that fuckin robber in the head!!
@TheGefro I hope you realized that the police can be racist and abusive because of the power they hold. But we have the freedom in America to fight back, and this protest in Seattle was a good example.
@Anon7771 then u would already know that i know the police are racist and abusive i know that they dont agree with are rights and take advatage over the citizens who dont know there rights and ive seen the movie i dont want some one like you preaching to me things that i already know because he doesnt understand the comment i posted! what im also saying is they tear away peice by peice at are right to bear arms. they promise safety if we give them are weapons that way they have all the power!
The protesters were there to do a good thing. They were peaceful and carried out their protest without violence. then all the dirt heads in town crawled out of the gutters they came from and used the protest as an excuse to riot and make trouble. The Seattle Police Department are not fascists they are the men and women who continue to protect myself and other residents of Seattle.
Last sunday, there was a small, non-violent, protest against closing of sosial center called "Satama" in Helsinki, Finland. Two protestors were arrested. Couple hours later Finland won the ice hockey world championship and thousand of people went to the streets, broked trafficsigns, swimmed on the fountains, stoled flag of the Finland from the president's castle (our "White House") and pissed from the house roof. Nobody were arrested.
@Kaalifornia Personally, I would like a law enforcement in my society that struck down on drunk ass idiot who went around vandalizing because of their intoxicated and emotional state of mind. I would also like protesters who vandalizes neutral targets to be struck down on. I hardly believe the two that got arrested was 100% non-violent. Finland is in no way a backwards country. You may have a high suicide rate and alcohol consumption level, but you do have the fundamental right to protest.
This trailer is too good. It gave me chills! I'm actually afraid to watch the movie, for fear of being disappointed. However, I'm a Ray Liotta fan so I'll do it. :)
We have 16 "IDIOTS" among us who claim to be free and humans. They don't know they are just double size Batteries who will be disposed after they run out of juice.
@JRD123456 Protesting can be direct action. Like Boycotting is a form of protest. Like If I hate Steve Jobs, I can sell all my Apple stock and then not every buy any Apple product. That is a form of protest and it is effective. If I rampaged an Apple store, then the insurance would pay for it and rates would go up for everyone else, NOT as effective.
@geilman Bullshit. It's the protestors who were wrecking local small businesses, threatening people, and blocking traffic. Their complaint? That international commerce had become popular.
Screw their intolerance and their insane 19th century ideology. We should step up punishments for people who try to imply vandalism and intimidation are forms of free speech.
@DrCruel Yeah fuck their intolerance of the system that closed down general motors in a town reliant on the work that factory produced, only to ship it out to mexico, pay the workers in dirt and destroy the economy of flint OH BUT WAIT, DON'T TAKE IT OUT ON THEM! It's ok, it's their god given right to abuse mexican workers, and to cause poverty in their own country. In the name of profit. Those protesters should have burnt the head of GM down, for all those affected. globalization, yaay..
@geilman Yeah, right. GM was closed by "the system" - crappy cars with poor materials and workmanship that was necessitated by arrogant, greedy, stupid unions. Because the Japanese don't allow "the system" into their plants, they made cars that are far superior, at a fraction of the cost, and still treat their workers quite well.
In fact, when "the system" was applied to eastern Europe, it made the whole region look like Detroit slums.
So yeah. Fuck their intolerance and their "system".
@bjarczyk Actually I've lost a job because I refused to join a union. Being a "scab" is not an option.
As for "class struggling", if it's wrong to hate someone based on their race, gender or sexual preference, why is it right - indeed necessary - to hate people based on their job or salary? What's the big difference between socialists busting Berlin storefront windows in 1938 and socialists busting Seattle storefront windows in 1999?
@DrCruel Yes, the closed-shop model isn't the best.
I don't hate people. I hate institutions, except CEO's and those that are directly response for brutality they could otherwise stop within the limits of their power.
There is a huge difference, between violence going down the hierarchy, and violence going back up it.
@bjarczyk And I don't hate people because they happen to have gone into the business of drilling for and refining crude oil. Or people who go into the business of manufacturing munition. Or anyone so gainfully employed, really. By contrast, I've never thought of avarice, sedition and piracy as virtuous pursuits.
As to heirarchy and violence, was it right for Klansmen on the "bottom of the heirarchy" to resist Union efforts to emancipate Blacks? Were emancipation efforts by Union troops wrong?
@DrCruel You lying sack of shit. First of all, there where no "socialists" busting store windows in 1938. You are referring to the Kristallnacht, which was a terror campaign against Jewish citizens in Nazi, Germany. Of course, since Nazis are also referred to as National Socialists, you conveniently left out the NATIONAL part and are trying to equate them with Socialists. Pretty disgusting considering that Socialists as well as Liberals where Hitler's political enemies and where the first to...
@YourHardcoreYear fall victim to his regime. Second of all, the people who favor tactics such as busting storefront windows are Anarchists, not Socialists. Third, this has nothing to do with hating people based on their salary, it's about fighting against tyranny, economic oppression, and exploitation. Your equation of a bunch of Anarchists causing some property damage to a multi-billion dollar corporation to what the Nazis did to the Jewish people is laughable.
@YourHardcoreYear I may not favor their tactics, but I'd take an Anarchist over a conservatard any day of the week. And I highly doubt you're telling the truth about being fired for refusing to join a union. That seems like a right-wing falsehood.
@DrCruel So nazis are socialists? That is about the dumbest thing I've heard since Harold Camping's End Times bed story. It's like, I can't even begin to explain to you how stupid that statement was. Thank God for reasonable characters like YourHardcoreYear, and to hell with you. I hate everything you stand for. Now have a great fucking day!
Socialism = "common ownership of the means of production". In Nazi-Germany there was private property of the means of production with government intervention in the economy (i.e. military Keynesianism). Keynesianism is an economic doctrine based on the idea the government needs to intervene in the capitalist market economy for capitalism to function properly. Furthermore, socialists were killed by Nazi-Germany. Proof enough?
@GodOfTheInternets Socialism = Ponzi scheme. The Nazis copied much of what they learned from the Bolsheviks, so that for all their angry rhetoric they created a government that was virtually identical to the one in Bolshevik Russia.
The Bolsheviks, Maoists and Nazis all killed rival socialist factions off. Lenin in particular was notorious for it. The Vietnamese communists and Khmer Rouge fought a race war over who would be in charge of Cambodia. And so on. So what's your point?
I could just repost the exact same comment as your reply did not even touch on any of my arguments. Socialism = "common ownership of the means of production". USSR did not have common ownership but state-ownership, China had state-ownership, Nazi-Germany had private property. None of those countries named were genuinely socialist. Try again.
@GodOfTheInternets Of course you could. The same tired advertizements has been repeated since teh 19th century. The problem is that, each time in practice, this "socialism" turns out to just be an excuse for another group of piratical elites to lord over everyone else. Socialism turns out to be just a modern secular justification for feudalism.
Try again? Good God no. I've personally had enough of this ideological crap, and so have a very many others. I thought I'd gotten that across to you.
@GodOfTheInternets Socialism is just another way for the elite to rule over the middle class and lower class americans these non-goverment controlled banks and corprations are ruining countries around the world no more than in america. all other goverments before democracy beat us and robbed us. democracy still beats us still robs us but puts a bag over are head!
@GodOfTheInternets i dont need you to tell me what problems america face's givien the fact you dont live here and dont experience what americans have went through because of those facest pricks running there own corprations and banks!
No offense, but you're an absolute retard. I don't need to tell you what problems America faces? Well I didn't! I was explaining to you what socialism is, i.e. a stateless, classless, moneyless system.
Nevermind this, I thought you were a reasonable person.
Washington is a great state, that is why we're going to legalize it in 2011 with Sensible Washington. Look for Sensible Washington on Google and Facebook.
Many of these so called rioting "anarchists" weared somehow police boots... this is a propaganda movie... almost everything what comes out of Hollywood is propaganda, disguised as entertainment. WTO is an elitist organisation and cops protect the rich, simple as that.
@Quex01 how long did your pea sized brain come up with that bullshit. yeah i know, things don't go your way so you make up stupid shit. what, is the illuminati gonna come in and impregnate you with aliens?
i think all these protestors were big douche bags. I couldent go downtown that day, i was stuck in lame ass kirkland and wanted to go to nordstroms but no there were a bunch of douche bags fucking destroying my home town. Fuck them all
@golfguy1995 well for fucks sake! They were all warned politely by mr. officer, they could have sat on the sidewalk! or sumthin! If you sit in an intersection, you will get ran over. Better to gas em, that seemed to work!
It looks like a fun movie and would have been even better had some of the hippie chicks taken their kit off. That said, it was all pretty pointless. The various heads of governments had ironed out the deals months ago. The meetings in Seattle were just a chance for a photo op for the various politicians and an opportunity for the protestors to, well, protest. Most of the poor bastards didn't have much else going on in their lives.
non violence (alone) will never change anything in this world. also the breaking of windows is not violence, its vandalism, violence is what was used by the cops against the protesters, huge diffrence. and for the people that think vandalism isnt right at a protest, whats your thoughts on the boston tea party?
@punkenduro Vandalism is violence because you are expressing your anger by breaking something that you don't own. So much easier than breaking someone's face, yeah? Now tell me one protestor who didn't resist arrest after vandalising private properties? Violence is answered by violence. It's only common sense that cops will respond by giving a beatdown to detain you. And, yes, the boston tea party is a very good point... but at what cost? People got shot.
@hit4effect9 yes, non-violent protest have worked, but 90% of the time, it wont change shit. look at the protest of the iraq/afgan war, the wto, and the g8. wtf was the boston tea party, in your description is was violent. and they are oppressing us first with violence. what happens if you decide to have a sit in and the owner doesnt like it? they call the cops and beat your ass into submission. shit look what happen in REAL LIFE during the seattle protest, even innocent bystanders got beat
@hit4effect9 this movie was made to discredit the anarchist and so called violent protesters to help the fucking rich keep things the way they want. case closed.
@punkenduro what are your thoughts on the people power revolution in the philippines? Ghandi's success for the independance of India? How about The "revolution tranquil" in Quebec?
The rich international banking elite cartels the Rothschilds, Rockerfellers control the worlds economies through central banking systems designed to destroy a country after they acquire all the wealth. They control the US economy through the federal reserve and control Europe's banks through the European Union. They also use private military forces as their own army basically. Free of restrictions.
@THEKINGOFMETROPOLIS Ill take him on sucka, you mom is a mother fucker, Id really like her to make me tucker. To bad your old mans a trucker, You going to grow up to be a dick sucker.
shits fucked up but remember this life aint real...it seems real...like money...but its not...and its certainly not forever. get over yourself thinking life has a point, no point, people live people die and trust me everyone gets exactly what they deserve...so be peaceful, give love when others hate, respect nature & remember its just a ride
@oneminutewithprod for me, it was about how everybody there is wrong (I dont believe in power, I believe in responsibility) and seeing how mistaken and unnecessarily harmful society is and how we need to stop it. but rightly, massively and just showing how it should be, no countries, capitalism, communism, etc, (but yes organized rationally and with private property and rational laws) and anyone would agree (except the more idoctrinated at first)
@santiagodebellavista that's right I agree with your point of view. I was just not too sure if this movie was showing it right... it sounded very " 90s ", media control and stuff... nobody really cares about tv news anymore, isn't it?
This movie was revisionist and quite lame. The Black Bloc was nothing like they were portrayed in this movie. The director only consulted with the really well-funded "activists" like The Rainforest Action Network. The scene with the "anarchists" smashing a window while some pregnant mothers are still shopping inside is just completely inaccurate and it really shows a horrible bias and lack of judgement. "Breaking The Spell" and "Shut Em Down" are great videos to watch about this.
one of my favourite movies....i recommend everybody to watch it...its full of action..and its also emotional...when i watch it, i remember that its always good fighting fair for our rights.
i remember when this happened, the riot broke out when me and my dad were leaving his work i was 9 and had a dentist appointment at that age it was scary as hell i thought the world was falling apart, and then 2 years later, it did
The cops think we are Cockroaches!!. Those fucking pigs abuse their powers whenever they get a chance. There is nothing anyone can do about it cuz unless you have a video camera on you (most people dont), its your word against the cops.
We have to rise up against all those who pull the trigger and fire the bullet straight to our hearts!!especially countries like Portugal,Italy,Greece,Spain(man, they call us P.I.GS.) are deep in the shit!!SHUT THEM DOWN!!BUT WITH NO VIOLENCE!!THERE IS NO REVOLUTION IN BURNING THE CITIZENS CARS WHEN THEY ARE YET PAYING IT AND CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER ONE!RIOT RISE FROM GREECE!!

@DrCruel Yes, the closed-shop model isn't the best.
I don't hate people. I hate institutions, except CEO's and those that are directly response for brutality they could otherwise stop within the limits of their power.
There is a huge difference, between violence going down the hierarchy, and violence going back up it.
bjarczyk 10 months ago
@bjarczyk And I don't hate people because they happen to have gone into the business of drilling for and refining crude oil. Or people who go into the business of manufacturing munition. Or anyone so gainfully employed, really. By contrast, I've never thought of avarice, sedition and piracy as virtuous pursuits.
As to heirarchy and violence, was it right for Klansmen on the "bottom of the heirarchy" to resist Union efforts to emancipate Blacks? Were emancipation efforts by Union troops wrong?
DrCruel 10 months ago
@DrCruel You lying sack of shit. First of all, there where no "socialists" busting store windows in 1938. You are referring to the Kristallnacht, which was a terror campaign against Jewish citizens in Nazi, Germany. Of course, since Nazis are also referred to as National Socialists, you conveniently left out the NATIONAL part and are trying to equate them with Socialists. Pretty disgusting considering that Socialists as well as Liberals where Hitler's political enemies and where the first to...
YourHardcoreYear 8 months ago
@YourHardcoreYear fall victim to his regime. Second of all, the people who favor tactics such as busting storefront windows are Anarchists, not Socialists. Third, this has nothing to do with hating people based on their salary, it's about fighting against tyranny, economic oppression, and exploitation. Your equation of a bunch of Anarchists causing some property damage to a multi-billion dollar corporation to what the Nazis did to the Jewish people is laughable.
YourHardcoreYear 8 months ago
@YourHardcoreYear I may not favor their tactics, but I'd take an Anarchist over a conservatard any day of the week. And I highly doubt you're telling the truth about being fired for refusing to join a union. That seems like a right-wing falsehood.
YourHardcoreYear 8 months ago
@YourHardcoreYear
Anarchists ARE socialists. A synonym for anarchism is libertarian socialism. You should read an Anarchist FAQ (google it).
GodOfTheInternets 8 months ago
@YourHardcoreYear Nazis ARE socialists. And fuck you too, asshole. I hate all you petty little totalitarian shitheads.
DrCruel 8 months ago
@DrCruel So nazis are socialists? That is about the dumbest thing I've heard since Harold Camping's End Times bed story. It's like, I can't even begin to explain to you how stupid that statement was. Thank God for reasonable characters like YourHardcoreYear, and to hell with you. I hate everything you stand for. Now have a great fucking day!
MrBassDude15 8 months ago
@MrBassDude15 And none of your sputtering bullshit makes it any less true. Thanks for the kind thoughts.
DrCruel 8 months ago
@DrCruel
GodOfTheInternets 8 months ago
@GodOfTheInternets Socialism = Ponzi scheme. The Nazis copied much of what they learned from the Bolsheviks, so that for all their angry rhetoric they created a government that was virtually identical to the one in Bolshevik Russia.
The Bolsheviks, Maoists and Nazis all killed rival socialist factions off. Lenin in particular was notorious for it. The Vietnamese communists and Khmer Rouge fought a race war over who would be in charge of Cambodia. And so on. So what's your point?
DrCruel 8 months ago
@DrCruel
I could just repost the exact same comment as your reply did not even touch on any of my arguments. Socialism = "common ownership of the means of production". USSR did not have common ownership but state-ownership, China had state-ownership, Nazi-Germany had private property. None of those countries named were genuinely socialist. Try again.
GodOfTheInternets 8 months ago
@GodOfTheInternets Of course you could. The same tired advertizements has been repeated since teh 19th century. The problem is that, each time in practice, this "socialism" turns out to just be an excuse for another group of piratical elites to lord over everyone else. Socialism turns out to be just a modern secular justification for feudalism.
Try again? Good God no. I've personally had enough of this ideological crap, and so have a very many others. I thought I'd gotten that across to you.
DrCruel 8 months ago
@GodOfTheInternets Socialism is just another way for the elite to rule over the middle class and lower class americans these non-goverment controlled banks and corprations are ruining countries around the world no more than in america. all other goverments before democracy beat us and robbed us. democracy still beats us still robs us but puts a bag over are head!
TheGefro 7 months ago
@TheGefro
Genuine socialism does not presuppose a state. In fact, many socialists advocate the abolition of the state, money, 'corporations'.
Libertarian socialism is about democracy from the bottom up, an end to parliamentarism and elitism.
So your criticism is not valid.
GodOfTheInternets 7 months ago
@GodOfTheInternets i dont need you to tell me what problems america face's givien the fact you dont live here and dont experience what americans have went through because of those facest pricks running there own corprations and banks!
TheGefro 7 months ago
@TheGefro
No offense, but you're an absolute retard. I don't need to tell you what problems America faces? Well I didn't! I was explaining to you what socialism is, i.e. a stateless, classless, moneyless system.
Nevermind this, I thought you were a reasonable person.

Most of the poor bastards didn't have much else going on in their lives.

the summary is PROTEST + VANDALISM = VIOLENCE

t7829 1 year ago
non violence (alone) will never change anything in this world. also the breaking of windows is not violence, its vandalism, violence is what was used by the cops against the protesters, huge diffrence. and for the people that think vandalism isnt right at a protest, whats your thoughts on the boston tea party?
punkenduro 1 year ago
@punkenduro Vandalism is violence because you are expressing your anger by breaking something that you don't own. So much easier than breaking someone's face, yeah? Now tell me one protestor who didn't resist arrest after vandalising private properties? Violence is answered by violence. It's only common sense that cops will respond by giving a beatdown to detain you. And, yes, the boston tea party is a very good point... but at what cost? People got shot.
hit4effect9 1 year ago
@hit4effect9 yes, non-violent protest have worked, but 90% of the time, it wont change shit. look at the protest of the iraq/afgan war, the wto, and the g8. wtf was the boston tea party, in your description is was violent. and they are oppressing us first with violence. what happens if you decide to have a sit in and the owner doesnt like it? they call the cops and beat your ass into submission. shit look what happen in REAL LIFE during the seattle protest, even innocent bystanders got beat
punkenduro 1 year ago
@hit4effect9 this movie was made to discredit the anarchist and so called violent protesters to help the fucking rich keep things the way they want. case closed.

Free of restrictions.

oneminutewithprod 9 months ago
@oneminutewithprod for me, it was about how everybody there is wrong (I dont believe in power, I believe in responsibility) and seeing how mistaken and unnecessarily harmful society is and how we need to stop it. but rightly, massively and just showing how it should be, no countries, capitalism, communism, etc, (but yes organized rationally and with private property and rational laws) and anyone would agree (except the more idoctrinated at first)
santiagodebellavista 9 months ago
