I just got a epi les paul-100 today not an amp though = [ have to wait till next month, but would you reccommend this over the vox VT 20w? they are the same price so idk what to do help plz thanks.
hey dude, i live in Scunthorpe, and trying to learn guitar, do u have msn, skype or facebook, so we can chat. if u have facebook look for Richard Devine in Scunthorpe
you play pretty hip, man, for real. Shredmaster disaster.I play the Blues, for the last 50 years - I stopped to watch the amp demo, ( I have a VT-100), and you totally made me smile, dude. Blue Stu Herman
@maskedleyend You can only use the inbuilt effects that are on the dial so only the listed combination's are available like Chorus and delay, Comp and Chorus, Octave and chorus. For Whammy effect you just need pitch and then use the edit dial and the tap and bypass buttons to determine how much and rate of the effect.
@ecgedsel I have never tried the MG Marshalls but they have a lot of bad press. The old Valvestates were good for the money but you can't beat an all valve amp, these Vox VT's are the closest thing though, great quality.
@Peruviandude96 You do a trill over 2 notes while lightly sliding your finger down the string, not sure what the technique is called, some kind of harmonics.
@davet247 Great, now I have problems adjusting the EQs to get it right. I need the tone to sound thin so it sounds like if the treble knob is all the way up or something but still rough so I still hear the "chunk" and it wouldn't sound like a bass amp.
I play a diverse type of music.. from country/blues stuff to shred. Does the amp hold up well? Does it need pedals? Im trying to simplify my setup.. Im getting hooked on these amps quick.. plus Im a big Satch fan...
I just bought this amp and man is freaking sweet! such huge warm sounds...you fucking shred btw mang! that wouldn't happen to be a WEEN hat you're wearing is it?
start playing small ''gigs'' at school and church + band practise. is 15 watt good or should i get the 30. if you got any other good vox amp please recommend it. Peder
@peder0204 Depends on how big the venue is. If it's like a 200 seat venue and you're playing with a full band you might want to go with the 50. If it's only about 50-100 person and a three piece band at not too loud a volume you could get by with the 15-30. You can always mic it through the P.A as well if you have to.
I'd say the 30 for small gigs and church plus it will sound bigger if you mic it up for bigger gigs. If this were the only amp I personally owned then the 50 would be my choice but anything above 30w then I go with all valve.
You don't need the 30 for its extra power (15 watts will be plenty...BUT), you will have much better tone from a 30 or more because of the speakers. 8" is too small to gig with. The 8" speaker is nice for low volume, but you lose bottom-end at gig volumes.
The only Vox 15-watt amp with a 10" is the Valvetronix VT15XL
The factor for feedback is volume! Have your amp on quite loud then position your guitar in front of the speaker to create a feedback loop into your pickups.
To get different tone feedback, position your guitar at various angles near the speaker.
If you get one of the these VT's then yeah, you can get a footswitch for the built in effects but I'd get a clean valve amp and use your Korg for the best results.
You could but I'd recommend a clean valve amp for that kind of thing, think of this amp as a series of pedals going through a vale then out to a speaker OR pre amp if you use the output jack.
It depends on how loud your band plays, if your bassist is using a 100w amp and the drummer has a huge kit and hits it hard then a 15w solid state amp would have to be on max to cover it, but if you only have a basic kit and play light then it will be plenty loud enough. That's why I recommend 30w for all situations.
For sick metal I'd go with UK Modern or Metal Bull or US 90's amp setting with the gain on max, treble at 10, mids on zero and bass on 11. Set the power level low and crank the master up high.
I tried both and both are very good but the Vypyr tends to sound a little more processed than the Vox. There's more options and effects on the Peavey but for pure sound quality the Vox wins out in my opinion.
I bought the vypryr 30 first and returned it for the vox. i hated the peavey. lots of problems with the firmware. i've been really happy with the vox. the clean channels are much better
You rock bro! Im thinking of buying the vt100 or just a tonelabst because it does alittle more and just saving up for a voxac15.cant make up my mind, lol what do u think?
VT100! the tone is king on these amps, the sound quality is THE best and in the end that is what counts. Also a lot cheaper then an all valve 100w or even 30watt!
i have a peavey valveking 100 watt (all valve) and a vox ad 15' and seriously to my ears the vox sounds better than the peavey' fact is the peavey is all valve but i think the warmth on the vox amps are amazingly real
