  • Thanks for this valuable bit of information, made simple! I'm glad I watched it before I spent five hours trying to figure it all out first, without success!

  • Great instructional video. In your opinion, where should the H1 and H2 tags be placed for the HomePage? Thanks!

  • @judyrusso Search engines index heading tags and weight their importance by the tag number. H1 is most important and usually reserved for page and post titles. H2 is next most important and generally used as section headers. For top SEO, it's best to place keywords in the H1 and place it at the top of the page. If you can, use keywords in the H2 tags, but only if it will not negatively impact your copy. You don't want your pages and posts to look like they were written by a machine for a machine

  • @BlogAid Thanks for the info....Much appreciated.

  • Hello MaAnna... its Great work. Love the way you teach ... i am following along with you tutorial, everything work they way you doing...i.e. posts going auto to my BLOG PAGE and the HOME PAGE is static as i wanted BUT when i go to my site its showing two HOME PAGE button on navigation bar ! Do you think it’s because of the theme I use or am I doing something wrong? Your help will be much appreciated. Thank you

  • @aj4manchester Once you create your two new static pages for Home and Blog, you'll need to go to the Settings > Reading page as shown in the video and select your front page and your posts page. It's probably still set to the default of "Your latest posts" as the front page of your site, which is why you're seeing two Home buttons in your navigation.

  • @BlogAid One other thing I just discovered on a client's site. If your theme does not support custom menus, then you might end up with two Home buttons after following the video instructions. There are plugins that are specifically for adding custom menu creation to your theme, if you need one.

  • Great Resource! Clear instructions. Question: How do you get your latest post to show up on your home page?

  • @cookingupschool If you're using a static page as your home page, to show your latest post, you'll need to look for a theme that allows for a widget at the top, or have the theme customized to show your featured post there. Widgets to show things like your featured post can actually be placed in several areas of your site, but not all themes have that option. A code site customizer who works with what are known as hooks and the loop can place a widget area just about anywhere.

  • Hi MaAnna! Great vid! I saw similar instructions over at the Lynda dot com site but I like your walk through a lot better. Thanks!

  • @MsIleaneSpeaks Thank you!!

  • Thanks, Martin. Glad you found the video helpful. There are plenty more on the way!

  • This is incredible. Well done. I actually had this part figured out from endless reading and surfing other videos (mostly out dated). I still feel a lack of confidence in my endeavors so I clicked on yours. You're filling a very big void in area of the "easy to understand" wordpress tutorials. Thank you very much. Martin
