Hey guys my parents will get me a macbook pro 15'' for school at christmas time..my question is, will the macbook pro line be updated in terms of graphics and usb? (i'm into video editing and a bit of gaming)
I don't think Apple will be releasing the 11.6 inch macbook air anymore. Usually they conform there products about 2-3 weeks before they are released and allow people to pre order the product on the online store. It is already nearly mid September and Apple hasn't said anything about it. :(

Astetically iPhone 4 is too square and putting a bumper on it make it look ugly it is one ugly phone. iPad is beautiful, iPhone 3gs is beautiful, ipod touch is ass. iMac and macbook are beautiful, iPhone 4 UGLY, is the start of apple losing its style ?
Well, I just saw the apple press release today and it looks like all phones indeed have this antenna problem so it's not entirely a hardware flaw in the iPhone.I think Steve presented the facts accurately and it proves the media just blew this out of proportion.I even confirmed this myself seeing other phones (nexus one, droid, htc) on YouTube having the same issue with signal bars drop if touched in a certain area.
Lately, Apple has been focusing on the iPhone and the iPad and has been almost neglecting the Mac product line. Back in 2005, when most Macs were around the $2000.00 price tag, they were much more higher quality and much more reliable. I think a major failure would do Apple some good and maybe they would stop compromising on quality. I do like that the Mac prices have decreased dramatically over the years, but if this means less quality, then Apple should go back to when they used PowerPC.
I don't think the 11" display for the new MBA is such a good idea, mainly because the small screen size wouldn't do justice to the i3 processor and nvidia graphics. If people want to buy a computer with such a small display they're probably not wanting it for anything power intensive.
A 10 or 11 inch Macbook Air would be my dream come true. I don't really think they will do that, because it is basically a netbook... And the iPad is supposed to compete against the netbooks. It would cannibalize iPad sales. :(
The Snow Leopard bug, that was a problem. That was something to complain about and something deserving of an Apple apology. The iPhone 4 antenna is not. The whole idea behind the new antenna was to give customers better reception on the phone they love. iPhone 4 does that for everyone who will participate. I had the BlackBerry Storm, which too had bad reception. What did I do? I changed the position that I hold my phone. It's a phone with a built in antenna, guys, think about it.

I've noticed a lot of comments not just on this video but others as well, from Americans talking about crappy providers/network and stuff like that and I was wondering how many providers there are and why are they so crap?
Also don't expect them to upgrade anytime soon, like LACK78 said, they have just been refreshed recently. C2D is enough for a notebook anyway, unless you're looking at a desktop replacement.
I think also that the new itouch will have a new design But Definetley Apple Won't put HD video Capturing But the 3.2 Mega Pixel camers will get the job done

concerning the iPhone 4... i'm hearing various discrepancies w/ the dropped call issue... I have a friend who actually has one and she states that it is not as big an issue as people are claiming... simply buy a case for cheap and you avoid the dropped call issue... and yet on the flip side, people are raving about the dropped call via the death grip...
@shine777 It really isn't a big issue. Some people just don't get great AT&T signal anyways. The new antenna is great but it wont give you reception where you don't get it in the first place.
I wonder if they will issue a credit, with which you can buy the bumper case or else use on other apple products. That would be cheaper than a recall.
@rilecotara no it wouldn't, seeing how the apple "net Book" would be more then 4x the price of a regular net book which can sell at 200 us. And seeing how the MBPs hardware is weak for about double the price of a pc with that hardware, I see this as another step to lower the already low percent of Macs to pcs ratio. I am not a pc "fanboy". Just pointing out the facts. Low hardware for double the price, People dont tend to like that.
I agree with you Dave.The way apple initially responded to the antenna problem was horrible.I guess they were afraid of tarnishing their image.However, apple will now be forced to come clean,likely admitting the flaw due to faulty hardware design.Especially from all the people complaining,lawsuits pending and particularly consumer reports recommendation not to buy the iphone 4.I just hope apple doesn't lose it's focus on consumers and become corporate like the way Microsoft was back in the days.

@SgntFrootLoops Yeah, I basically want a PC for gaming, so to pump it up to top specs re:graphics, sound and speed and to have plenty space for gaming. I'm looking at either i5 or i7 Processor. I use Mac for everything else minus gaming.
@Bogota89 I'd say "not too long" lol. They're not far from their usual upgrade cycle, they tend to refresh them every 6-9 months. I'm not sure what they can really do with them though apart from GPU improvements. I can see the 320/330M being used as the integrated option rather than the 9400M and maybe the 5XXX series Radeon cards. There's reference to GeForce 480's too in a firmware update so they make come in the top end... or a Mac Pro refresh (though both seem possible and likely to me).
@BlackCoffee1995 They're still on Core 2 Duo's because they get better performance than the equivilent i3/5 + IGP solution. Intel don't allow 3rd party chipsets for their new CPU's so they decided to use the NVIDIA 320M combined with the Core 2 Duo because it's a FAR better performer than the Intel graphics chips. Remember, Snow Leopard makes more use of GPU's for general tasks with OpenCL, they want their GPU's to all run it, so using the Intel GPU's wouldn't allow this.
Imentioned this already on another blog. I find myself feeling sorry for the Apple engineer who originally came up with the antenna idea. Poor guy, he must be feeling some heat even after all the early hype excitement.
@msviswan The signal is greatly improved with the new design, just ironically this also has the problem of causing it to also short out if connections are bridged. I think they use a thin coating to stop this happening as many people don't seem to have this issue and can't reproduce it no matter how hard they try. I'm guessing there were a few early run batches that didn't have it applied fully or at all for some reason. It happens, we'll have to wait and see I guess.
@iPodTouch1024 If you remember the keynote he mentioned they were making the FaceTime protocal an open sandard, so we may start seeing it on other companies devices as time goes on.

I really think there shouldn't be a camera on the ipod touch because I think there needs to be some major differences between the iphone and ipod touch besides just the difference of the phone
If you need to do some basic editing try out YouTubes new editing feature in labs. you can add clips together and trim clips down. Can't trim out middle sections or 2 clips from one video though but I use it sometimes instead of hassling with Premiere. Upload the clips as private, edit and publish the final video.
@m4cbook I thought he used to use his iPhone but stretched the video to 16:9 widescreen in post. That might have just been one of them. Can iSights not do 480p? His videos are usually either 360p or 240p its hard to tell since there's no option.
Mac PRO update? aaargghh WHEN? Is Apple just waiting for a new Intel chip to come to update their Mac Pro? Or are they just letting it dying because every one wants Notebooks and all-in-one comps?
I think there definitely is a flaw in iPhone 4, but the bloggers are making it by very far worse than it actually is- (I read tons of postings like this one "iPhone 4 sucks because it loses signal. I'm a Droid fan & never owned an iPhone")-- these are just bloggers "beating a dead horse" over & over. How many people are TRULY bothered by this issue?
My friends are not affected, but could reproduce the "issue" and even then, they had to hold 20 seconds until they lost all signal.
I actually spoke to an apple salesman recently and he was answering a few questions about i3. Apparently the 13in runs faster with the core 2 duo, so it is unlikely that they'll even upgrade to i3 at all.@LACK78
Apple has always been like that, no change. Any Apple wrongs have never been admitted to and have snuck under the radar with flawed software and hardware. I think this is due to the majority of ppl who own Apple products are fanboys so they don't get any where near as flamed as M$ and Google do. Apple is now a major player with customers who don't worship at the alter of SJ so they are going to have to change or end up jading their customer base like they are currently doing with iPhone4 issues.
@thetechfixer I think its not a bad form factor, if the price comes down this might just be exactly what a lot of people have been looking for. A convenient Mac netbook with a great battery life and decent amount of power. Plus it's going to be much lighter than the already very light exisiting model due to this reduction in size.
@groMMit1981 ;) so true. This Dell Optilex GX-270 with its 'lightening fast' 2.8GHZ Pentium 4 processor, 'Massive' 40GB hard drive and integrated GPU really is a 'BEAST!'. lol! Is there a symbol for sarcasm? :)) You wouldn't believe how loud the fan gets when I play youtube videos.
@LACK78 aghhhh I remember my p4 with fondest (now where is that sarcasm button), think mine was a 2.4 ghz single core OC'd to 3ghz on intel oem HSF...now that was loud!
@TheJacobHolmes The Macbook Pro trackpad also broke. It's not uncommon. It's an issue with the small logic board thats attached to the trackpad. Anyway, not to worry, it should be back and good as new tomorrow.
I have an iPhone 4 and I can tell you, this antenna issue has been blown way out of proportion by the media. I have had much better luck with drop calls, or the lack there of, rather, with this device than on my 3G. I can replicate the issue, but I can't make it drop a call. Maybe I live in an area with wonderful signal strength. I don't know, I'm no expert. But it's not a big enough issue for everyone to return it...

Is it cheaper to build your own PC then buy from Dell or PC World?
I'm thinking about doing this, I have a dell xps bought in 2006 but its out of date re: processor, gfx, ram, OS and so on...
So is it cheaper to buy and build rather than buy from two of the main retailers?
I mean the PC I want would be used for games, multiplayer and net activity.

The 3.2MP on the touch could still record 720p HD video. A 720p frame is around 1MP so maybe 720P at 25FPS?

If you need to do some basic editing try out YouTubes new editing feature in labs. you can add clips together and trim clips down. Can't trim out middle sections or 2 clips from one video though but I use it sometimes instead of hassling with Premiere. Upload the clips as private, edit and publish the final video.

@m4cbook I thought he used to use his iPhone but stretched the video to 16:9 widescreen in post. That might have just been one of them. Can iSights not do 480p? His videos are usually either 360p or 240p its hard to tell since there's no option.

I think there definitely is a flaw in iPhone 4, but the bloggers are making it by very far worse than it actually is- (I read tons of postings like this one "iPhone 4 sucks because it loses signal. I'm a Droid fan & never owned an iPhone")-- these are just bloggers "beating a dead horse" over & over. How many people are TRULY bothered by this issue?
My friends are not affected, but could reproduce the "issue" and even then, they had to hold 20 seconds until they lost all signal.

I actually spoke to an apple salesman recently and he was answering a few questions about i3. Apparently the 13in runs faster with the core 2 duo, so it is unlikely that they'll even upgrade to i3 at all.@LACK78

Apple has always been like that, no change. Any Apple wrongs have never been admitted to and have snuck under the radar with flawed software and hardware. I think this is due to the majority of ppl who own Apple products are fanboys so they don't get any where near as flamed as M$ and Google do. Apple is now a major player with customers who don't worship at the alter of SJ so they are going to have to change or end up jading their customer base like they are currently doing with iPhone4 issues.

@thetechfixer I think its not a bad form factor, if the price comes down this might just be exactly what a lot of people have been looking for. A convenient Mac netbook with a great battery life and decent amount of power. Plus it's going to be much lighter than the already very light exisiting model due to this reduction in size.

@groMMit1981 ;) so true. This Dell Optilex GX-270 with its 'lightening fast' 2.8GHZ Pentium 4 processor, 'Massive' 40GB hard drive and integrated GPU really is a 'BEAST!'. lol! Is there a symbol for sarcasm? :)) You wouldn't believe how loud the fan gets when I play youtube videos.

@TheJacobHolmes The Macbook Pro trackpad also broke. It's not uncommon. It's an issue with the small logic board thats attached to the trackpad. Anyway, not to worry, it should be back and good as new tomorrow.

I have an iPhone 4 and I can tell you, this antenna issue has been blown way out of proportion by the media. I have had much better luck with drop calls, or the lack there of, rather, with this device than on my 3G. I can replicate the issue, but I can't make it drop a call. Maybe I live in an area with wonderful signal strength. I don't know, I'm no expert. But it's not a big enough issue for everyone to return it...
