Of course illusions are rigged. Magic isn't real, dummy. But no one can argue Hiro's grace and abilities. He brings an otherworldliness that all Asian magicians seem to embody. I love it.

the bottom of the tank is separate from the sides. This allows the them to off camera raise the sides of the tank the height of the black border along the top to revealing an air tight gasket he pushes his hand through. Most all of his glass/mirror illusions are similar in that they involve shifting the surface up down or sideways to allow him to reach through the cutout hole.
