So being the new guy on the block, if I understand the comments correctly, one records the film, converts it in Quicktime Pro which makes it useable for Final Cut Pro editing, then you have to record it to Blue Ray in order to keep the quality....heavy sigh.

One question...what is the advantage of recording at 24 fps vice the 30 fps (default setting)

Lenses are absolutely the key, and you have to know how to manually work the 5D. You will not get this quality on auto settings.

i really like the feature but

double the price of a 50d

for full frame and movie mode

i can see using the movie mode here and there but 21 mpx all take the 15 and be way happy with my 1500 exstra bucks

I agree that rolling shutter can be an issue with this camera, but you can't really pan quickly with a 35mm *film* camera @ 24 fps can you?

but you have to think to yourself. this camera isnt solely a video camera. its also and extremely acceptable digital SLR. on of the best on the market. if you want artistic vision for movies. buy a video camera

Looking at this video again, it must have taken a lot of work to have taken the clips and edit them to the song and each clip with the lip movements of the singer to coincide, this takes hours!!.

whoever recorded this video is a pro, he or she even has an on car Bonnet suction mount for the camera!!. Perfect in every aspect a real pro recording.

We are pros, but in photography and music, not video (or just a little bit).

I made the "moving photography" and I don't have an suction mount. I sat not very comfortabel on my normal tripod on the co-driver-seat for the video in the driving car.

Hi Andreas. I have the 5D and will be getting the 5D MK II in about a weeks time as I have a studio shoot to do for a Spanish singer and Pianist who is about to become famous!. Your work come out great in every detail, Lighting, shade, Areas focused and areas purposely un focused, the editing with the clips and the original soundtrack must have been a headache!!. What did you edit with? Did you have to change the compressions to get a good end result or was it straight from the Camera?

Final Cut Pro 6. We had to convert the 5dm2-File with Quicktime Pro. Silvio is a music producer and he has a lot of experience with cutting in final cut pro. We had 1h to prepare the shooting, 5h to shoot and 1 day for cutting.

Hi Andreas. That's what I use Final cut pro and quicktime pro. That's no time at all for post editing and then to maybe have to pass over to compressor takes time. Well i now know that the 5D files have to be converted before using in FCP, that's good to know. Keep up the good work and would be nice to see any more work you have. I have subscribed by the way. Also das ist wirklich unglaublich! Gut ihr habt mit Objektiven und Perspektive schon gnadenlos gute Arbeit gemacht! Ich hatte gestern die Nikon D90 zum test und hab mir auf ne SD Karte mal ein 20 Sekunden HD aufnehmen lassen... Also am HD TV sah das ziehmlich mies aus (im Vergleich zu einem echten HD Camcorder für die Hälfte des Preises).. am PC gehts.. bin gespannt auf die 5er :)

24/1.4 bis 135/2,TSE 90,100Makro und 70-200/2.8.

Es ist eher "moving Photography" wie Video. Es ist weniger ein Tool für Videofreaks, dafür hat es keine Einstellmöglichkeiten. Es ist eher für kreative Filmer und Fotografen, welche mit möglichst wenig Licht und Schärfentiefe den Fokus manuell setzen.

Die 5D Mark II wird sicherlich keinen HD-Camcorder ersetzen, eher neue Käufer erschliessen. Und ich bin gespannt, ob demnächst ein Camcorder mit grossem Sensor und EF-Mount erscheint.
