  • i would do ANYTHING to have gabriella as my guitar teacher!!!!!!!

  • Son todos unos maestros, bien por ellos ;)

  • The lead played by Rodrigo sounds very much Asian. Good duo !!!

  • she's beautiful :)

  • I like how Gabriella talks like Penélope Cruz.

  • @digaritmo What is the song at the beginning?

  • @gloopglooppoop i think that would be buster voodoo from their album 11:11??? maybe.. i could be wrong...

  • @gloopglooppoop i think that would be buster voodoo from there album 11:11? i think so, could be wrong aswell

  • What is that song at the beginning?

  • I'm sitting with my guitar and every time the intro starts I start to jam along, then when they start talking I don't realize and continue jamming suddenly I realize they started already and I have to go back to the beginning... and then it all happens again. It's really very frustrating.

  • @digaritmo u know it's a good frustration tho:)

  • im sorry but can i be taught by people who havnt come to my country on a floating door!

  • @TheReilly8 you poor soul..... good luck in life.

  • @OOOooermilindaooOOO Do people like that really deserve a response? They will eventually clear themselves from the gene pool soon enough.

  • ssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhh..... watch.... listen..... learn.

  • Agreed guitardude1230: This isn't a lesson!!! Why does Guitar World keep on doing this??

Stop messing with your fans guys!

    Great interview though. RIP Dime.

  • her notions of rythm are beyond comprehension (for my hears) very VERY good musician...

i´m glad nature aloud the universe to have soundwaves.

    THANK YOU NATURE!!!!!!

  • @mrlaa1 u agree with me right?? :D aaaaah nature, u gorgeous deep fractal

  • @diogomorgado haha it's good to actually appreciate what's on your plate!

  • @mrlaa1 lol u funny and addictive in response ahah ok, enough

  • yeah rodrigo y gabriela rifan¡¡

  • acoustic wah lol

  • Gabriella 0.0 -drools-

  • IN SPANISH !!!!!

  • Here's the lesson:

    Don't believe everything you read!

  • wheres the lesson?

  • rodrigo totally looks like Eddie Guerrero

  • @Igevad Yeah, a cross between Eddie and Gennaro Gattuso!

  • Where is the lesson?

  • both players are amazing.one would not be complete without the other. Gabriella is just more appealing to the eye so naturally you would think she does more but they both kick major major and i repeat major ass.

  • WWADS..."What Would Al Dimeola Say"

  • I think they are great. Not sure why people are so negative. I wish most of the people who make it to radio and TV had half the talent these people have. They are doing something original so I have a lot of respect for that...

  • This song have something special, Rodrigo its using a Wah¡¡, this listen well

  • i love them and think they are amazing musicians but at the same time, when i see them perform live, i always want to leave a metronome on stage and tell rodrigo, use this, bro.

  • lol. great song. awful performance.

  • cool video! is it just me or are they not quite together? sounds like he's playing ahead of her by just a smidge.

  • yeah!, men, so great, I love you Gabriela!!

  • These guys are really Amazing. it takes a lot of talent to play guitar. especially classical. But these guys made it their own. Both are needed to make music. or else it wouldn't be Rodrigo y Gagriela

  • Thrash Metal techniques rules!

  • these guys are amazing and i ove how gabriela has a mix of like a mexican and irish accent

  • First off this isn't flamenco, get your styles right. They aren't in a general genre considering all the different playing styles and backgrounds. Second, why play in the traditional old school classical way. That's for old people. UPGRADE. and ihope one day Gabriela is my wife.

  • I wouldnt mind having her right hand skills;)

  • lol, the dublin accent rubbed off on gabriela

  • did anyone else notice that their not playing in the traditional classical sitting position?

  • please teach me! T_T porfavor ensename! T_T

  • Cool tips bro.

  • @ guitar dude. This is actually a clip from a long lesson/interview CD that Guitar World had in one of it's issues. In it they play two songs from their new CD and then slow down and show you how to play them completely, including a turorial on how Gabriela plays the different types of percussion on the guitar by the numbers. And I agree with you. I would love to have even just an hour to talk shop with them also.

  • Completely agree!!!!!!! This isn't a lesson it's an interview...

  • Dear Guitar World-

You would have a much better response in these videos if you simply replace "Lesson" with "Interview." If there is no lesson, why the hell would you say there is? Common sense people!

On another note I would love to have these two over for dinner and talk music with them until the next morning.

  • @guitardude1230 Yeah, Guitar World, listen - 100 thumbs up means either 50 or 100 people sharing this thought, don't underestimate the value of 100 thumbs, pleaser.

  • @guitardude1230 With respect, I would say that you have a somewhat narrow view of what a lesson is. I would consider this a lesson. If they're here to inform the viewer and across an idea and you learn from it, then that IS a lesson. You say "Common sense people!" What you seem to be saying is, "if it doesn't fit into what I think a lesson should be, than you (ALL) are wrong. Who are the succesful, accomplished and professional musicians here? Don't be so narrow. Widen your view!

  • @changing3 They didn't teach, which is the definition of a lesson. Interview and performance then it doesn't matter I said it over a year ago. People change a lot in a year. Have a nice day.

  • @changing3

I wholeheartedly agree with what you are saying. This is a lesson of sorts.

But if a title says, and I quote, "Guitar Lesson", most people will take that to mean it's a lesson in guitar. I did, and I'm damn sure you didn't come here thinking 'I'm going to watch this to be informed of an idea in what they consider true music'.

  • lesson..........?

  • that is so cool. never pictured pantera played flamenco style

  • flamenco with a wah pedal?

  • @pierredex That is not flamenco [...] That is thrash/Rush metal with Latin influences and acoustic guitars. It is so difficult to hear?

  • Comment removed

  • oh what a spoon you are

  • @code933k agreed

  • THX ;)

  • @pierredex Why not checking out their interviews and early works instead of trying to make points out of ignorance?

  • Yep, among all the thrash band from the late eighties, early nineties, Skolnick, Freidman, Darrell, Hammett all shredded and were far more ear grabbing than those that Rodrigo and Gabriella DIDN"T mention. Some of those other fast thrash players had no sense of musicality to their solos or even a good sense of rhythm. So, what are the best? IMO

    Freidman- Tornado of Souls

    Darrell- Cowboys or Walk

    Skolnick- Souls or Practice

    Hammett- One

  • Well, I guess I forgot to mention that I've played guitar for over 20 years now and also teach it. I wonder if my students know that I'm ripping them off :D!

I may be ripping alright, but it's not people......

what about Bettencourt? He should be in any list, regardless of genre!

  • ..oh, and I agree about your Diamond choices, I'm a huge fan and pretty much every solo he did was good as gold.

  • @121jigawatts Yea I liked every solo from Marty and Skolnick you just can go wrong with Friedman and Skolnick!

  • 3:03 "oldies fucken crazy things" hahaha

  • as cool sounding as rodrigo's playing is, i have to say that gabriella is the real beast, she's the one playing rhythm and percussion at the same time, i think that takes much more talent than shredding a harmonic minor scale. just sayin

  • tha'ts not really surprising; in their original band Tierra Acida Gabriela was the guitarist and Rodrigo was actually more of a vocalist.

  • @chrismonzel It's two completely different techniques, she's put a lot of passion into her rasqueado and he's put a lot of passion in his melodic technique, they're both real sick guitar players and play completely different roles in the music they make even though they both play guitar. I'm not sure there is much of a reason to to compare them.

  • @jaybaybles i only compare them because they're in the same band. i know it's easy to play the "no soul" card with shredders, but to me rod's playing seems to lack something. i'm not saying there's no passion in it or anything, it just seems to be lacking the sort of feeling that gab's parts have. granted, they are both very good guitarists in their own right, i just see gab as the better player who gets less credit.

  • @chrismonzel Thats been the case through history with many great duos.

  • @chrismonzel absolutely agree i remember seeing a lesson for one of their songs and Gabrella expalined how her part was pretty simple you just do this part ... and then this part on top of it .... yea when you got that you add this bit in ... by the time she was finished there were about 6 very complex rhythm going on at once totally crazy

  • @chrismonzel

I agree with this on face value, but don't discount that Rodrigo has to have equally good timing to play along with her. I think his playing becomes a bit invisible because it fits so well with hers, but if you put a lesser guitarist in his seat you'd probably realize just how good his playing is as well.

  • @spookypen maybe, but bear in mind that, for this song at least, he's only playing a harmonic minor scale at a decently fast tempo, any guitarist with the guitar grimoire and good coordination could improvise in a way very similar to how he writes. i'm not saying he's a bad guitarist or anything, i'm just saying that gabriella seems to be pulling more weight with her rhythmic insanity than rodrigo is with his harmonic minor scale.

  • @chrismonzel there is one beast of neck, and one beast of body

  • @chrismonzel

just to be fair thought have you ever tried learning any of their songs? I teach these songs to my students, and it takes far less time for most of my students to get gab's parts up to tempo than it takes to get rod's parts. I think gab's technique is cooler and more unique, but speaking from experience I find Rod's parts take around three times as long to get down.

  • @jonmichaelswift i'll give you that one, i haven't tried learning any of their songs, but it's not so much the learning/teaching aspect of the song that i'm looking at, it's the writing. while rodrigo can shred (there's no denying that) his parts don't seem incredibly difficult to write, especially in this song, whereas gabriella's parts seem like they have time and soul put into them. maybe that's just because i can't play like her, but that's just my two cents.
