  • I miss you Dilla.

Coming from a native, Detroit, Flint, Michigan as a whole, and the Hip Hop Community misses you.

    Bye.

  • he was behind the scene. the Detroit way. the sneaky way. if you don't ask somebody about whats goin on in the D then you'll never know. that goes for anything

  • I remember meeting Dilla through my partner Beej...I had heard his beat tapes waaay earlier but this is after he was in the game. We were in his basement at his house and I asked him how he made those running baselines, real bass heavy. And he put the mic to his throat and sampled the humming with the mic at his throat. Crazy creativity!

I'm blessed to worked in the studio with him once. He was a big producer - at least in my eyes - actually working. And here I am recording a song - an unknown.

  • Its crazy how everyone gets THE SAME FEELING from Dillas work!!! EVERYONE !! RIP Jay Dee >>>>> youve inspired millions of people worldwide!!!

The track is "So Far to go" by Common and D'Angelo. It was on common's "Finding forever" album. J-Dilla of course produced that track.

    RIP Dilla

  • Yeah.. It's from a posthumously released album under Dilla.. The Shining

  • @medboy78 Yea but I think the better version of "So Far to Go" was on J Dilla's The Shining. Just an opinion tho.

    love Dilla. r.i.p.

  • RIP Jay Dee

Theres never gona be another Jay Dee. He was light years ahead of the hip-hop community. His samples are just impossible to find, not even Pete Rock can make beats like Dilla. His music is soo inspirational and makes you belive you can do anything.

The feeling I would get from Jay Dee's beats were out of this world. He gave a certain feeling inside when you listened to his music. I think you all know what Im talking about.

RIP Jay Dee, The King Of The MPC.

  • theres only one thing i disagree with you about. he was not the king of the MPC....he was the king of music. and im serious i have never heard anything like dilla in all my life!

  • i get what ur saying and all but i think pete is as good i mean hes not LIKE jay dee but pete rock is as good if u ask me... i dont want no hate comments! xD jk but yea R I P j dilla

  • runnin - the pharcyde (prod. by dilla)

  • Nobody will ever fit in Mr. James D. Yancey's shoes, I know its said too much, but its too true. Jneiro Jarel is the future, do ya research.

  • daaamn if anybody know whats the last beat in the video post it here! that shit is reaal nice, RIP DILLA..

  • I have met Common, The Roots, De La, The Pharcyde, and Tribe, but never have i met Dilla. It would have been nice to meet the guy behind the music. Cas.

  • I've been Djayin for a while, and i literally have thousands of records. I went and looked at the credits on some of my favorite records, and almost all of them have either have J. Yancey, Jay Dee, or J.dilla somewhere on that record! I didn't even know i had so much of his stuff, but everything i like has been touched somehow by dilla. DJ Cas. Lawrence, Kansas.

  • black milk keepin it ghetto with the plastic cups

  • "Fuck Kanye West, Rest in peace Dilla"

never be another. Black milk is the closest ive heard.

  • I completly disagree about Kanye.. But Kanye is a great producer. Just quoting 5 ela, they say that over one of jdillas beats.. Kanye produced for Dilla when dilla did his rap thing. Respect to both dont worry.
