I can't believe the kidnapping was 4 years ago and he was only kidnapped for four years.. It seems so much longer. Kind scary knowing I've driven past where he was being held at, and one of my friends sisters, friend dated Shawn.
He was 11 when kidnapped and when he came back he was a taller, thinner, longer-haired 15 year old kid. I mean, going through ALL of that at 11 and come back 15 would scar my life too!! I, too, watched 48 hours tonight. I just want to say how proud I am of Shawn for having the great attitude in life. He has suffered more in his young life than most, but instead of choosing anger and hate like so many might, he has chosen to try and be positive and make a good life for himself. It was crazy when they found Shawn, my boyfriend used to see him playing basketball at this court by his house all the time and he WORKS at the Imos where they found Michael Devlin. It's insane. I am from St. Louis..i remember that day he was found i was working as a hostesses at a restaurant and everyone in the bar was silent and we were all watching the t.v. when the story broke and everyone was like they found him..then in like march my friends and i were eating at an Applebee's and Shawn and his dad were eating at the table next to us and everyone was whispering "oh my gosh its shawn hornbeck", i felt bad for him,he looked over at me for a moment and he gave a little smile.

ok put it this way, In Kirkwood everyone thought Shawn was related to Devlin in some way, Shawn tried a lot of ways he knew how to get attention from people to help him and no one did that, no one helped him, so if he escaped they would have sent him back to Devlin and not believed him, he was scared and a young kid, unless you could personally ask him what happened you'll never know..

Ask yourself this question - What if Shawn 1 day worked up the guts to get away & run from Devlin & Devlin caught him?? Would we have Shawn alive today? Put yourself in Shawn's shoes -Are you going to take that chance?

Leigh, I do agree with you. Some people think stupid and can't see what's what until it ends up happening to THEIR child. God forbid. Any child born to people so ignorant and narrow minded already has a burden enough in life.

Oh for God's Sake. The child was 11 years old when abducted. He was a baby. God only knows what he was told. You look at his pictures and look in his eyes and tell me you don;t see a void. Go and take a look at his new pictures. He is smiling and has life in his eyes. Some humans disgust me, and you with the stupid comments are almost as disgusting as that sicko that kidnapped this poor child.

Im so glad that he was found alive and safe. Noone knows what he went thru and how he felt. This family truly was very lucky.
