i like series 2 and series 5 fxitures but there is no exvuse i dont think to program a five floor hydraulic to go 100 FPM 150 would be more reasonable
I wonder why this is called Series 5, but it's like the bug used on 3rd party controllers that make the lantern bell sound multiple times when going down.
I don't know why, but they should have gone with Gen2 for both the office building and parking garage, with a speed of 150-200 FPM. Additionally, the garage elevators would be nicer looking if they had glass windows.
Yeah they definitely should've put a traction in at least the actual medical building itself. A lot of medical buildings/hospitals have traction elevators.
It is a bug in the digital controller that Otis has yet to fix, as all new Otis elevators with these fixtures (Unitec calls them Series 5) have this bug.
No, this can be used for both pediatric & visitor parking. Also, I'll get a video of the office building that bears the name, and the confusion will be alleviated.
As Captain mentioned, it's a private doctor's surgery center devoted to kids (pediatrics) only. It's right next to the new Dell Children's Hospital in Austin. Buddy works there. Seriously the best Pedi docs in Austin work there. They got tired of working in the hospital and opened their own place for smaller operations. Big ones they do across the street in Dell. (Actually have underground tunnel linking the two buildings.)
Yes, because of potential ground contamination. No wonder Kone Elevators has discontinued all hydraulic elevators, and I think this will happen to the other companies down the road.

Yes, I too like all Otis fixtures, old and new, but I think 200 FPM would also be good for 5 floors.

why isn't it a gen2?
Quentinmovie 3 years ago
Yes, if the building has 5-6 floors, I would use 150-200 FPM.
CaptainElevator42189 3 years ago
100 FPM for 5 floors is too slow!

I know that many medical buildings use traction elevators, and I think Gen2 elevators would have been the better choice for the building and garage.

Yes, they should have gone with 150-200 FPM for hydraulic, or 200-250 FPM for traction.
CaptainElevator42189 3 years ago
FACT: Hydros do not travel over 150 FPM and if they do they require safeties.
LiftedCO 2 years ago
Maybe that's one reason why 175 and 200 FPM hydraulics are becoming rare.
CaptainElevator42189 2 years ago
because of MRL is better.
patricknedz 2 years ago
That's another reason.

SLOW elevator.
Baytrail 3 years ago
Yes, that's the one.
CaptainElevator42189 3 years ago
is this the one you took your nice dog Bruno on?
patricknedz 3 years ago
Well, maybe it was programmed for up-peak, and then was sent back to the main floor.
CaptainElevator42189 3 years ago
But it couldn't of flashed 5, 4, 5.
Baytrail 3 years ago
Maybe the floor beeper was messed up, just like the Dover elevator I did yesterday.
CaptainElevator42189 3 years ago
How come the elevator at the Strictly Pediatrics Medical Building didn't do that. And it was not because it wasn't going down.
Baytrail 3 years ago
Yes, that's correct, and I too like this kind of Otis elevator, even though the old Otis elevators are leader of the elevators.
CaptainElevator42189 3 years ago
and actually the two beeps at floor 5 indicates that it's going down
yummyyum101010 3 years ago
No no no.
Baytrail 3 years ago
the otis chime is a little weird on that type of otis but i still really like that brand of otis
yummyyum101010 3 years ago
Yes, sometimes that happens, but can be used as a going down indicator for the very top floor.

the childrens hospital in oakland have bridges enclose bridges with windows that connect other hospitals
patricknedz 3 years ago
Yes, the chime is a little too high pitched, and also I like to do elevators, even in medical buildings, of which this is.
CaptainElevator42189 4 years ago
And why Strictly Pediatrics? By the way they need an arrow in the indicator and the beep is a little bit unusual.
Baytrail 4 years ago
The chime is weird.
Baytrail 4 years ago
In the newest Otis models, they're designed to beep at every floor
Baytrail 4 years ago
it beeped more than every floor it beeps twice and screwed up at 5

In today's time, the most common hydralic elevator they manfacture are holeless model since in ground holed system are dangerous.
