I hated how they dumped the dramatics of this intro about 2 weeks after the new set debuted, and how they completely dumped the "Ready For Action" and "On Your Marks" cues after a while. Wasn't it the point to resurrect those practices with the retro set in celebration of the Feud's 30th anniversary? I'm confused.
Why didn't you guys keep this intro? Burton saying the old "Ready for action! On your marks, let's start the Family Feud!" sounded great. If only he would've ditched the "Russian Roulette" style sinister voice. The current intro, in my opinion, is lackluster.
I don't understand why they changed it either. Course doesn't matter much now since it's totally changed again with Harvey, but this wasn't that bad, and flowed properly enough.
urbanpreppie is correct. After Mark Goodson's death in the early 90's, the company was sold. Fremantle Media currently owns all 46 Goodson-Todman formats. The reason Rich Fields said "A Mark Goodson Television Production" as long as he did is because Bob Barker was Executive Producer of TPIR for about 15 years until he retired, and Barker kept the reference to Goodson.
BTW, they FINALLY got it right in hiring O'Hurley to host Feud. Anderson SUCKED, and Karn had no business hosting the show.
True. It was sold to All-American Productions, which in turn was sold to Pearson, and later, Fremantle Media. (BTW, the MGP logo was used during the Louie Anderson version of Feud)
I got a question... who agrees with me, when I say... "FAMILY FEUD" is not FAMILY FEUD, without the winning bell sounds, the original strike BUZZER sound & the 1988 or 1994 theme from COMBS & DAWSON'S return?
BTw... I have all the original music on CD, ifany of you want to hear it online.
Reason why b/c things aren't like they use to be. The FEUD isn't the FEUD, without the original music, cues and stuff. Maybe Richard Dawson or Louie Anderson can come back again.
No I'm not. It's my choice and I prefer to stand by what the FEUD was... Original set, original & new jazz version theme, original bell & buzzers sounds, etc.
If you can't deal with... than don't watch it. It's much better than watching some boring crap on BET. Need to bring back, the BANKROLL game- top answers worth $1000, 2000, 300, 4000 & 5000!
I have a feeling "urbanpreppie05" is a Fremantle insider. One thing you will always find out about Fremantle: They are always right and the hell with the viewer. Fremantle will force-feed their tastes down the throats of viewers (remember those horrible revivals of "Card Sharks" w/ Pat Bullard and "Match Game" with Michael Burger?). The "music" sucks, but they are always right. One right choice, though, is John O'Hurley.
Well... FREMANTLE may own FAMILY FEUD now, but Mark Goodson productions still owns parts of the show as well. Including, THE PRICE IS RIGHT! It's good they brought the original FAMILY FEUD logo back, since it's the 30th anniversary... but they can update the theme music... with the Robert Isreal/Score Productions mix to it. BTW- next person tells me to GET OVER IT again... can shut the hell up!!
I was also wondering... the game board on the Dawson 1994-1995 version... did the people, saw the answers on the FAST MONEY board, like it was during OPRYLAND WEEK or was it like the tv screen game board, than change back to the FAMILY FEUD logo that quick?
Also... why isn't MARK GOODSON PRODUCTIONS owning FAMILY FEUD or PRICE IS RIGHT no more?
Initially, producers of John O' Hurley's "Family Feud" had planned to bring back either the 1976 or 1988 "Feud" theme, but the idea was scrapped because in November 2002, the Richard Karn theme was dropped and it didn't return until the following season because for the remainder of Karn's first season, the Combs-era theme was brought back and it didn't fit in with the set design or production of the show.
yeah... I got a idea for the losing producers- bring back the 1994 jazz theme of FEUD, when Dawson came back and updated the damn theme! "Can't bring it back, b/c it didn't fit to today's version." If Dawson heard this... he'd be pissed so bad!!!
Interesting intro. Almost brings back the good 'ol days, and it all ain't bad. And John O'Hurley, it seems he's got the styles, from back when he hosted 'To Tell The Truth' just a few years back
O'Hurley ain't bad at all. Much better than that cornball Al Borland! I started watching FF again! Combs was cool, he brought his own shoes, I give him that. I liked Anderson better than Karn but he wasn't that great either. Dawson was king though. He had more personality, wit and charisma than any of the other FF hosts combined. He let it go to his head and he acted like a dick but he realized his mistakes and back in '94 he came back a bit older, more sincere and a lot more grateful
I read on Wikipedia that people thought he was bland and they couldn't separate him from Home Improvement.
I'd have to agree that whenever I caught the show I wasn't interested but when I saw that John is hosting it I've been watching it. I love him and he's probably gained popularity from Dancing with the Stars.
I have to agree that the 94 theme mix would've been good...keeps the "classic" feel, yet sounds more modernized. However, judging by the clips I've seen on YT, I'm not gonna complain too much. :-)
John O'Hurley rocks! Like Richard Dawson, he brings such a unique personality to the Feud. With the great retro set added, it looks more like it's a continuation of the Dawson/Combs "Feud" and the Armstrong/Karn years seem like an annoying aberration.
i've only watched clips of this on YouTube and I love I can't wait till it comes on here, I think this will be the best version next to Dawson of course
How did you this? An Insider promoting the show, maybe? ;) Anyway, the new format looks interesting. I'm glad they brought back the tradition portrait intro thingy
Dump the garbage "music" (if that's what it can be called). Bring back Bob Israel's and Score Productions theme, this time without the remixing used in the brief period during Richard Karn's reign. It really identifies "Family Feud" as evidenced by the GSN viewers who are still turned off of the current production because of that dreadful "music" and its uneccesary cues (and the "Fast Money" thumping.
I agree; bring back the original theme music (having game show music with a melody would be a novelty these days) instead of the tuneless garbage Fremantle and Jimmy Cuomo love so much. Also, drop the "music" during "Fast Money." It's distracting and it's "Family Feud," not "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire."
Congrats to the Feud staff on the new season of Feud! The new set's great and John's FANTASTIC...looks like you've got a great new era of the Feud on your hands!
This Show aired Wednesday September 13, 2006 On WWOR My 9 3:00pm.

Only one word is needed to explain why Dawson and O'Hurley were such great hosts: "moxie".

John O'Hurley has been the best thing that happened to the Feud in the 21st Century.

When did GSN get the O'Hurley version? I know ION also have it.

Earlier this year (I think back in the spring).

Because Mark Goodson Productions hasn't existed in several years. TPIR only kept for as long as they did for tradition.
urbanpreppie05 4 years ago
Mark Goodson Productions is gone. It was gone when they sold it to All-American in 1996, I do believe.

alderete422 5 years ago
True--Ray Combs did better than Anderson, Karn, AND *writes will as will probably be shot after posting comment* Richard Dawson combined.
I can't possibly like Richard Dawson after finding out his sole purpose to be on Match Game was to kill the show.
