I live in sweden and went to mekanikschool. and hated saab just cus i loved volvo.. you know how that work :) but after been on a saab workshop I was turnd. thy are nice weird cars that you start to like. And later i was on a new volvo workshop and the new volvos are NOT mekanikfreindly
I dunno, I was driving in a snowstorm at night last week and turned my night panel on (2005 9-5 sportkombi). I found it alleviated that tunnel vision effect you get while driving in snow a bit, or at least it helped me focus.
I love the car for its weirdness too! Especially that transforming cup holder. Got my friends head spinning when they first saw it in action. Too bad it doesn't want to hold their freakishly large Coke cup. Saab makes you feel like you are in a cockpit of a jet fighter, due to all the complicated buttons. Almost got into an accident by just tinkering with the illuminated buttons. Nevertheless, great car, just gotta watch out for the turbo though. Mad expensive to fix.
@VooDooXII Hmm. Thanks. Honestly, never saw it do that on the 2008, but can't confirm if it does /anything/ like that on the 2K. Must be Tech-2 related. Don't recall that being an option, though.
@capitalistpigdogus in the setting on the controll thing you can choose were its illuminated up to. my full speed gauge is litup and the turbo gauge (costum) the rest is dim
@VooDooXII Same with my 1999 Saab 9-3. It will go through a full coolant in about 2 days. But you can't make it burn oil. It's got 137,000 miles on it. It's a great car
I have one of the original SAAB 900SE 2.0 liters from 1996, and something interesting, my button says "Black Panel" instead of "Night Panel" like most of the later Saab's
I also have the night panel and I realy love it! It's very practical when driving at night, it's so much better for your eyes. The advantage of the night panel realy surprised me.

You have to love the quirkiness of these cars. The fact that it is so different is what makes it so appealing.

@AWKman259
That's one reason I regret selling the car. I love quirks like this. They really give the car some character.

Hmm. I wonder if my 2K's speedo has a dead bulb.. never had it over 75 with the lights on.
capitalistpigdogus 1 year ago
@capitalistpigdogus
There is a separate bulb for that section of the speedometer, so it's possible.

Two Questions:
How reliabable has this car been?
And are your steering wheel controls lit?
EChid 2 years ago
The steering wheel controls are lit.
This car was hit-and-miss. The CD player stopped working but that was a simple fix, however it started devouring oil and coolant around 60,000 miles.
I no longer have the car. I regret selling it though.

They changed the name officially from "Black Panel" to "Night Panel"... I guess for marketing reasons...

they used to "pimp up" rather than dim the lights

Have fun...in life...in general. I don't know. I don't know why I said it either. Way to read into the most impertinent part of the video.

That insult is way too specific to be from someone I don't know...haha who the hail is this?
VooDooXII 3 years ago
watch some of my videos and it may give you a pretty good idea. lol u should be able to tell by my cars.
SusanSally88 3 years ago
Really? Do you have an Aero model?
Mine's a 2.0T Aero, but it's gone all the way up to ~145 before. Don't know...an ECU reflash may help.
VooDooXII 3 years ago
not useless at all. saab are one of the safest cars you can by, thats just little feature to support why.
dimmer can help your night vision, and stop disttractions etc etc.
trancegsi 3 years ago
Hah, either way...I enjoy the car, and the feature's fun.
