So young bac then. My mom would watch the Lawrence Welk Show every Saturday night for years. I didn't care for it, but what did I know? I miss her so much, but these downloads brings back a ton of memories and smiles. Thanks.
What 46 year old (man or woman) didn't grow up with "grandma" watching Lawrence Welk EVERY Saturday night?? I did! I guess I turned out all right, according to my wife!
As a small child I loved this song - was completely sold on the whole Lawrence Welk aesthetic. Oh, how I looked forward to the TV show at age 8, 9, 10.... I think my love of this music has played a significant role in keeping me an upbeat happy person all these years.
Mr. Welk and his champagne music, you made millions very happy and through the magic of tape you continue to make people smile. That is truly a blessing.
i was looking up songs that weird al put in his polkas and this is one of them. when the guy turned around and he was holding an accordian i started laughing, cuz al plays the accordian, especially for the polkas
These clips sure bring back the memories! I remember "surrendering" the TV to my grandmother every Saturday night at 7 so that she could pull the chair right in front of the set and watch Lawrence Welk! I didn't think much of him then, but have grown to realize my grandmother knew more about good music than I did! Thanks for posting!
A charming piece of film made long before his tv career. "Bubbles", the original tv theme, was written by Mr. Welk, who collaborated with his music director, George Cates, & famous songwriter Frank Loesser. Truly "wunnerful, wunnerful".
@tvcollector71 thankyou again soo much, when i play this song, i get chills litterly , soo much comes back to me, i admit a tear comes to eyes as well, him and orchestra were soo wonderful, wishin this music was still on tv--thank you again tvcollector, people nowdays and their metal and electric music just really "dont get it".

@GregDad100 Remember in the 60s between the British Rock invasion through Woodstock, us kid's felt Welk & his followers were "uncool"!
Generation gap was huge back then & anyone under 30 was blackballed & labeled for even watching Welk?
Rock was our lives & Welk was old & boring!
Now to see this was pretty funny... :)

Was Welk popular in the 40's?

Very Popular many musicians wish they were half as popular as Mr. Welk.

@12345678927269 Welk had a network and then syndicated TV show well into the seventies. It's still rerun on some PBS stations.

Unfortunetly not. I did ask WS for info about the band personel from the pre-TV era buy they didn`t have anything on them.
The only had info on Larry Hooper, Barney Liddell, Jerry Burke and the others that stayed on into the TV years.
