@steveinchelsea I'm WELL into the 28% federal income tax bracket. Add another 10% to the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia's state tax and another 9.25% sales tax and almost half of my paycheck is GONE. That doesn't include property taxes, utility taxes (water, electrictity, phone, internet). Add it all up and better than 60% of my check is gone. Entitlements as a % of the CA state budget are soaring astronomically.

I made the decision long ago to forget about receiving ANY Social Security benefits as by the time I *might* qualify for benefits, SocSec will be underfunded and will be "means tested" meaning if you have any assets such as a 401K or you own a home, your SoSec (which you contributed to your entire working life) will simply be confiscated and redistributed into the general fund.

I made the decision long ago to forget about receiving ANY Social Security benefits as by the time I *might* qualify for benefits, SocSec will be underfunded and will be "means tested" meaning if you have any assets such as a 401K or you own a home, your SoSec (which you contributed to your entire working life) will simply be confiscated and redistributed into the general fund.
