I would definitely try to air out the home if you live in a place where the temperature permits it and it is not "allergy season". Air purifiers and regular vacuuming/cleaning can help a lot.
Air Quality on Earth is Horrible. Look at our windows and you will see how dirty it gets. Standard, New Homes built should include air-purifiers and oxygen humidifiers. Adding $2,500 to a $250,000 house does not cost too much don't you think? Remember there is a difference between air and oxygen.
These combo alarms are not good. Because smoke rises, you need smoke detectors near the ceiling. Carbon Monoxide is heavier than air, it sinks to the floor and builds up from there, like filling a pool. So you want your Carbon Monoxide detector near the floor. Buy two different units, one for each purpose and install correctly.

@isnteveryoneanao you can test the carbon monoxide detector by putting it near a car's exhaust pipe.

How important is air exchange? EPA recommends allowing outdoor air to enter such as by opening windows.
