I wasn't complaining about how he trashed the kit just because he isn't in DT. That's a fucking retarded assumption to make. Also, this is, for me, the first time I've seen him trash a kit. I'm not saying it's the first time ever, just for me. I think it's dumb to trash a kit. Just my opinion.

All feet and no hands! Where is his rudimental prowess? I never hear him playing any open roll rudiments or drags and forget about flam rudiments. He has some cool rhythms and plays good rock drumming but that guy is no way a drum god. He can't even play any rudiments. Even Travis Barker can play some rudiments.

@flammaster People like Gavin Harrison play with feel and melody and emotion. I've never gotten any of that out of Portnoy. I've always said he is the most over-rated drummer of his generation. I'm not saying he doesn't have tricks, but everyone has tricks. He's just a banger who can do it in odd time.

I think it sounds surprisingly good to hear portnoy play some heavier and straighter shit than with DT, he is after all quite a powerful drummer. Anyway, I'm happy for him that he got together with such brilliant musicians and started something new. that escapade with A7X was just awkward for him, in my opinion.

They are phenomenal musicians and although Mike made a lot of what they were, I know that Mangini will do his job well. I should also say that the only Dream Theater I like is after Images and Words, so what you consider "wash up has-beens" is what I consider brilliant.
