Its a missile launch and no you would not have heard a damn thing. I've saw more missiles launch from Vandenburg than I can count. Never heard anything from them.
yeah maybe my guess is right, but I still think it's strange. Firstly because a rocket engine would not usually leave such a brilliantly lit trail - e.g. think of the shuttle, and this would surely be smaller - though that could just be sunlight lighting the smoke. Secondly, I don't know any planes or missiles that would go that high on rocket power then switch to jet. A Tommahawk cruise missile (and all that I know) flies very low - 50-100 feet. Third, you wd think it wd be very loud. Odd one.
Thanks for your comment! Im sure it was just some form of airplane, a private one perhaps and they just didnt know how to fly it. Theres no fakery in this I assure you. I just filmed what I saw.
The links didnt work Im afraid, but Ive love to see them if you could repost?
Thanks for stopping by! Twas interesting to watch and speculate over. The "bugs" (I think thats what you meant) are such a nuisance this time of year LOL!

strange. the bottom part looks like it was created by a rocket engine, which would have been very loud - did you hear anything?
a possibility is a cruise missile which was launched using a rocket engine (and then switched to jet propulsion at altitude).

There was no sound where we were, it didnt seem to far to not be able to hear which also surprised me.
Youre explanation seems most plausible though. Thanks so much for your input!

It might of been a rocket or some type of missile, are you close by the Ocean or near any type of Military installations?

We do have an army depo near us but not near the sea. I know they have no flying vehicles though but as if thats anything to go by.
I hadnt thought of that, thanks for the insight!
