@57classic1 Yes, it was pure joy watching this growing up. The whole family glued to the single TV in the house. When things didn't go right, all the kids cried. And my mother cried because she knew we were growing up faster than she would have liked.
But mostly things did go right and it was just good old fashioned fun for the whole family.
Wasn't he just gorgeus? not a bad singer either. They are running episodes from the series with Pernell Roberts in them at the moment in Ireland and I have to say that it makes coming in from work in the evening more enjoyable when the first thing I get to do is sit down with a cup of coffee and watch an episode. It's the 20th anniversary of Michael Lnadon's death this July so what are we the fans going to do to mark it?
He may have been talented, but I still didn't like how he kept moving the furniture after Mary went blind. Well, maybe that was only on Family Guy, but still - I did not approve.
I bought Bonanza Ponderosa Party album way back in 1965. If you ever find it probably now on CD DO listen to it as Michael Landon is featured quite a bit and he had a lovely voice.....my favourite was "Careless Love." I still have that album and I will never get rid of it as it brings back great memories.
Mike sang Shenandoah on the LP Ponderosa Party Time, which was released in the early 60's The songs were later released on a CD Box Set by a company called Bear
Started out asd a Teenage Werewolf then settled down on the Bonaza with a good group of ppl then he had to head Dow that Highway to Heaven then wound up in the Big Bonaza on the Ponderosa in the Sky Michael Landon what more is there to say was a good actor who went before his time. May he alway be happy at the Ponderosa in the Sky.
Michael Landon & Dan Blocker were imho the best "duo" on TV - barring none. What a terrible shame we lost both of them at such young ages. They still are sorely missed by us Classic TV fans...AS for "Bonanza," it's the best family-oriented show ever!
I can't handle it... Pernell Roberts sings, Lorne Green sings, Pernell Roberts sings... Bonanza should have been made into a musical.... That would have been amazing.
He was anything but a racist. And I might add he was an extremely talented man. He brought many years of joy to the lives of those of us who grew up watching him.
No no no, as long as you don't smoke and sing at the same time it should have literally no effect. Do you know how many famous singers a long time ago smoked? The only thing I can think of would be a loss of ability to breath properly and expand your lungs. Other than that it should have no real effect on tonal quality.
As for the racism...that's quite unfortunate, he seemed like a nice guy.
Funny how people hated Bush so much when most of Bush's screw ups date back to Reagan.
@Sshelly34213@Sshelly34213 Drinking any kind of liquid shouldn't affect a voice, simply because it doesn't pass through the vocal tract. However smoking can definately affect your voice in a bad way. Smoking will in time make your voice "darker" and more "rusty", which is simply explained by the constant contact your vocal chords will have with the smoke and all the toxins that come with it. And it are those small particles that will sit on your choirds and damage them. Damage is time related.
As I said above, the vinyl album was brought out in 1965 which I have and he sings that on it. The whole thing is supposed to be a Birthday Party for Ben Cartwright who doesn't know about it and it is a surprise. Everybody gets to sing a song including Hoss which is called "get along Cindy" and it is funny at the end as he tries to get down low and cant so Ben does it for him saying he'd be able to do it when he gets his full growth!!

Shenandoah is my favourite film of all time and Little Joe is my most favourite cowboy of all time, so the combination of the two is just fantastic

Michael Landon? How do you know he was racist? I must say that is distressing to hear.
Sshelly34213 2 years ago
Drinking has no effect on your vocal chords...that's such a myth.
It's basically just a muscle and the only reason someone would suck is if they trained their voice incorrectly. (or if they had no talent.)
Sshelly34213 2 years ago
great version michael we miss the talent innovation and inspiration you brought to television.

Does anyone know when he sang this? It sounds like a live recording and I just wondered if maybe he sang it on Bonanza.

He's not as good as Lorne Greene, vibrato is a little much...but all in all, not bad.

There may be better voices and more professional performances, but this one brings tears to my eyes.
Rest in Peace Michael!
