  • nah id rather stick to ubuntu

  • will internet work

  • @spshivram It all depends on the hardware in your computer.

  • I'm running a dell optiplex gx270 pentium 4 2.6ghz 1gb ram with windows 7

The installation completed but mac wouldn't start up it just kept going on that darwin thing - and kept on going back to the installer.

When i take the cd out and error comes up saying "Boot0: error" and also i can't access my windows 7 now :(

  • @musicwizard1 Unfortunately I can't really help you. I haven't done anything with OSx86 now in over a year so I'm not acquainted with any of the current releases or bootloaders. I also couldn't try to figure anything out with my machine if I wanted to, since my new graphics card is completely incompatible at the moment. I can tell you though, that the Pentium 4 is all but incompatible with Snow Leopard (if that's the version you installed). I'm at the character limit here so next comment...

  • @musicwizard1 There's hope of being able to boot back into your Windows 7 install if you can install the chameleon bootloader using you OS X install disc if it has it, or if it doesn't you can download an OSx86 release that does have it built in and uncheck everything except chameleon.

Another word of advice - Until you're completely familiar with OSx86, bootloaders, partitioning and dual booting you should install OSx86 on a separate hard drive and disconnect your main one before installing.

  • @musicwizard1 YA DUN GOOFED

  • Macs and PCs have exactly the same hardware only diff is the OS!

  • @xserver2ltd True, but I fail to see your point.

  • @halofreak2121 the point is that the operating system is the only thing which really matters

  • @xserver2ltd And who said that it isn't?

  • Nice bid but i hate to tell you that it is illegal running anyy type of Mac os on a windows based/msdos based pc

    Good jib installing though :)

  • @alekiscool123456 Not illegal, it just breaks the mac EULA or whatever

  • some quick questions.

    1)does your computer run smoothly?

    2)do your programs crash?

3)does your computer run faster then b4?

    4)have you gotten any viruses?

5)do your applications run faster and start up faster?

6)do you recommend doing this if i have a pc?

  • @chrisSosa i didnt make this vid but my specs are 1gb of ram 1.6 ghz dual core intel on my toshiba satellite and windows ran horribly on it i put mac on it and it runs 5x faster it loads up in about 6 seconds shuts down in 2 and programs pop up almost instantly and so far none of them have crashed

  • hey, i have hp artist edition 2 and im runin it with windows 7 and im diying to have mac os x as systemopirativ. please someone help me. what should i do?

  • i am unable to install leoaprd on my amd pc....when i boot from the cd...then i just get the apple logo screen and nothing further happens...

  • @patani555 The bus that your disc drive is on (PATA or SATA) is incompatible with the generic driver.

  • @patani555 hold down F8 when you boot you OSX system a dos prompt feature will appear from their type -v this will load it in verbose mode and will highlight the problem, usually is Failed CPU 01 if so disable Hyperthreading in your bios that should resolve it

  • is that a hackintosh ?

  • @tushar223 yes.

  • O Primeiro Hackintosh foi do brasil ;)

  • Love the Friday the 13th part 3 soundtrack remix

  • where can i get the Atheros patch? and will it work for the ar5007eg?

  • when I boot up the cd, I get the grey screen whith the apple logo on, and after 0.5 seconds it reboots my computer, and restarts the whole procedure, or boots in windows.

    please help!

  • The kernel that the install disc uses is incompatible with your motherboard. You can try using making a new disc with a different kernel or downloading a different release.

  • @halofreak2121

I have an asus p5q-e, could you tell me how i find something like that on the net? because I have noooo idea :s

  • I really don't know. If had you asked me that two years ago when I made this video, I would've been able to tell you. Sorry.

  • HOW DO I GET AIRPORT WORKING???

  • It's different for everyone. I'd ask on the forums.

  • no offense to anybody but id just get a mac mini and plug it into my monitor, Apple are ahead of things you know.

  • That's not really the point. And besides, a Mac Mini isn't known to be the most powerful piece of hardware under the sun.

  • get an real mac

  • Is your IQ so low that you seriously can't look four inches to the right and read the third line in the video description? I honestly hope you get hit by a bus and don't survive.

  • get an real mac

  • Normally I'd delete idiotic comments like yours and block people like you for sheer stupidity, but your failure is so great that I'm just gonna leave your comments for the sake of public embarrassment.

  • awesome man, i personally have no clue why people war on which OS is better.

  • Yeah each OS has it's strong and weak points. OS X is amazing for general use as well as media production, etc. Windows can be used for pretty much anything, especially gaming, but less experienced users will run into problems and viruses. And of course Linux is rock solid and thanks to being open source actually supports an astonishing amount of hardware. As for myself, I use Windows and OS X interchangeably.

  • Same here.

  • lol that is true MAN!!

  • dude its - "Get a real MAC"

not - "get an real mac"

  • Yeah cunt? i triple boot OS X 10.5.7, Hazard Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and Windows 7 Ultimate x64. U gona tel me 2 get a real Mac???

  • he said he has a macbook, are you stupid?

  • how to tell which dvd to use?

  • There's info describing which DVD's are appropriate for various setups in the links I provided.

  • No problem

  • 10.5.1.

  • Kalyway.

  • woah your computer has a door!!

  • haha, indeed it does :)

  • hey not tryin to be mean but just so we can see it better do you think you could use an emulator and hypercam next time?

  • This was 2 years ago. Odds are, I won't be making any more videos of this nature. However, there are some Mac programs that I'd like to review, including Snow Leopard itself, which I can screencast using Quicktime X in HD. :)

  • will it work on a Dell XPS 410?

  • How do you enable "full QE / CI, all harware accelerated, works perfectly"?

  • Get the proper driver for your graphics card.

  • halo sound track whahahaha

  • haha :D

  • Could you list some requirements for running this?I have a DELL INSPIRON 1545 but I think the motherboard has to be correct to.

  • Links for info like that are in the description.

  • It almost entirely depends on the motherboard. I would need to know your motherboard model.

  • Can you run iphone sdk?

  • I don't know for certain, since I haven't run this on my PC in about a year now, but I would assume so because all other software (third-party or from apple) has worked in my experience.

  • what is a name of theme song in clip? i like that song but i dont know name of that!!

sorry!! my english too bad ^^!

  • All three songs are listed in the video description.

  • You can't run panther on a PC without virtualization software, because the whole OS was written in PPC binary before Intel Macs were introduced. You can't run a PPC binary natively on an Intel/AMD processor.

  • i know this is random but i put Windows Vista Home Premium on my old emachines, 1.5GB ram and 100GB hard drive and it fried the Hard Drive...

  • hur fan har du gjort för att få det att fungera?? kan du för klara för mig har en amd processor testade att installera mac os snow liopard men nu får jag ingen bild längre tror mitt moderkort har gott åt helvete ??

  • BTW something funny, my captcha letters spelled "sperm in rest" LOL classic. I should have made a screenshot.

  • You're dreaming bro. A laptop with dual core, 160GB drive and 4GB of RAM, not to mention a nice graphics GPU goes for right at 500 these days. A macbook pro is still close to a grand. BTW are you using the KALYWAY image for this install? It's pretty easy these days. I remember when my buddy did this back in 2005. I was tripping out. I still don't see what OSX does that XP doesn't but nevertheless it's cool. Kudos to the guys that make the install package.

  • Sorry for the late reply. Just thought it would help to mention that this video will be turning 2 years old next month. Back then the prices were still relatively competitive. And my bad if you were replying to someone else's comment (or mine), it doesn't say you did. Although I don't trust Youtube's comment sorting.

  • i just bought a tiger license for verison 10.4.8, will i be able to upgrade it to leopard, atleast this version that you now have, without too much pain.

    running an x86 computer here.

  • haha i put a Mac OS X disk in a Dell and the hard drive fried

  • that must have sucked lol

  • Wasnt mine :D

  • buckethead?

  • Yup. :D

  • Does your wirless work ? Mine doesnt :(

  • Video descriptions are there to be read.

  • not bad, I just wouldnt be able to wait 1:35 for my OS to boot lol

  • so on a scale of one to ten with ten being the hardest, how easy is it do something like this?

  • For someone with technical/operating systems experience, to get it in basic working order is about 4/10. For someone with less technical experience but decent computer and research skills, 8/10. There's a huge community of people dedicated to making this work. A visit to the forums and about 4 hours of time is what it would take to get the basic knowledge required.

  • Thanks man.

  • mac is good, but sooo expensive...

  • Not really, anymore. The base Macbook Pro is $1200 where a similar PC laptop is in the $1000-$1300 range.

  • No, that's only for the 13'' and it only has a 2.26ghz CPU, 2gb ram and a teeny 160gb hard drive.

I can get a Sony Vaio or even one of the top Dells with like 4gb of DDR3 a 2.66ghz or higher CPU and a 500gb hard drive for the same price or less.

  • Take into consideration battery life, aesthetics, re-sell value, and the fact that you can run both Mac OS X and Windows without modification. I believe that balances it out pretty well. Not to mention, you can use a Macbook Pro for 5+ years and still enjoy the experience. Take for example the Powerbook G4. They're still perfectly usable, can run Leopard, and look decent if they were taken care of. My 3 year old PC Notebook stutters on the mere thought of Vista.

  • hahaha sony vaio>>>>> sony is crap

  • lol... stfu, mate. Sony are one of the biggest influences on modern day technology and have been for decades.

  • kewl. I wouldn't mind that. Don't get why people are like saying its sad that you installed a mac on your pc when you could of brought a mac. Kinda makes you think..."well its kinda sad you have to install windows" on a mac to play games :P but meh what are yah gonna do my pc is about %80 mac

  • your PC looks great... Love the blue lights...

  • Thanks :)

  • also, which VMware do i download?

all i wanna do is run mac os x leopard and windows xp

  • i've never used VMware, so i don't know.

  • wut kind of pc is that at the beginning?

lots of lights shining, so it must be a super pc...lol

  • I "built" it myself. Basically, I bought all the parts individually and assembled it myself. The case (Lights and such) is by Apevia, that's what they specialize in.

  • woah, did it take long?

  • Ok its good you have a macbook, but i still think its kinda sad installing Mac on a pc.

  • I still think its kinda sad that people like you leave stupid comments.

  • help me please after i install ideneb or ipc my computer just reboots forever

does never go into the osx

    i have amd 64 phenom4 8 gig ram

    please help me

i also ahve the same problem when installing on wmvare

  • I haven't done anything of the sort for almost 2 years now. I don't know what your specific problem is, but your motherboard may be incompatible with the kernel. I don't even know if AMD phenoms work at all. Like I said, I haven't done this in almost 2 years.

  • Hi , in my own computer when iinstalled it it did reboot after installing andnever went into the osx ,same happens with vmware wich is a program that runs os on your windows (and yes it can doit)

but when i start the osx in there too iget a messagesaying "kernel problem in a realcomputer this would reset your processor" wich isexactly what happened before.

I have tried ot install kernel universal. In vmware system info in osx setup say i have intel 1 core...so what drivers do ineed?

  • And when it comes to chipset,, what does chipset mean?

because i have marvell sata and marvell lan controller i believe..

but does thi smean ishould install those chipsetdrivers or is this causing the problem since vmware usesdifferent means to reach the virtual hd?

  • Reading your last comment, I can fairly confidently say the kernel will not work with your motherboard. The only way around this without going through a lot of trouble would be to find a release with a different kernel. And the chipset is the set of hardware controllers built into your motherboard.

  • what is "set of hardware controllerS"

WHAT kernel does my amd phenom 64 need?

btw i am doing this in vmware virutal machine

but when i tried on my own machine it still rebooted same way.

the install note on ipc says dont install drivers only kernel that is important for amd is voodo something.

so can i install it without actually installing drivers? or do i have to

  • Hardware controllers are the built in chips on your motherboard that allow the use of things like hard drives, memory, and many other things. As far as what kernel you need, I have no idea. And if you get the correct kernel, you may not need any drivers but that's doubtful.

  • what do you mean ?

do you need drivers to start the osx? because right now all i want is the osx to actually boot and load.

  • You might. I don't know.

  • IS THERE a site dedicated to write what specific configuration needs to install?

  • Check out the links in the video description. Both sites are still fully active.

  • That took FOREVER to load. Fuck.

  • Yeah, I know. Its a system hang, not just general (slow-ness?). A driver fails to load over and over and waits 45 extra seconds.

  • LOL mac got owned

  • i like xp and vista better

  • your point? only post criticizing comments if you're planning on leading it somewhere.

  • CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME?

i get "still looking for root device" and i can never install the operating system

yes i made an active partition in both drives..

    now i am stuck.

  • Ahh, the old SATA/IDE driver issue. If you're using SATA drives, you'll want to try IDE ones and if you're using IDE drives you'll want to try SATA ones. Both hard drive and DVD drive. You CAN patch a working driver onto an install disc so you can use your current drives, but it's difficult.

  • i actually had hd and sata. but i removed the HD because the computer always got confused and even formated my computer somehow.

  • I also have a Macbook but why is yours so slow to boot up?

  • ... This is my PC, not my Macbook.

  • Yes, I know :)

  • lol my macbook starts in less than 15 seconds

the PC starts slow because of a driver incompatibility. These things are expected when hacking an OS :)

  • Mine also starts faster than any IBM clone I've ever owned, I switched to Mac for reliability and it's so much more fun to use.

  • Yeah, I posted on there earlier today, so I'm just waiting for an answer now.

  • Ok, thanks anyways.

  • Btw, have you tried the Insanelymac forum?

  • I've tried NVinject and Titan and they don't do anything for me either. Are injectors like these supposed to be running all of the time, or just at some point during startup? I've used kextstat in Terminal, and I never see them running.

  • I'm really not sure, I haven't done anything with OSx86 in over a year now.

  • 256 MB.

  • Very strange. Try NVinject or titan.

  • I tried Natit, but it didn't work. I also tried adding the card's device & vendor ID to the info.plist and it didn't do anything. Did you have to do anything else to get it running?

  • How much video RAM do you have?

  • How did you get your nVidia 7900 GS working? I've tried so many things to get mine working, but I'm still stuck at 1024 x 768 with no QE/CI.

  • Natit.

  • To anyone wondering about my Macbook: If I'm not feeling lazy, I might make a video review of it soon.

  • So why do you get a macbook if you could build a very powerful machine for the money an run the latest os??

  • 1) It's a pain in the ass.

    2) I support Apple

    3) Macbooks not only have Mac OS X, but the most well thought out hardware scheme of any notebook I've ever seen. Dollar for dollar, Macbooks are better than any PC notebook out there.

    4) I needed a laptop for school, and building a notebook is not something I wanted to do.

  • i couldnt get my networking drivers to work on this.

For the ethernet i have a Broadcom(idk what model)

and for wireless i have an atheros ar5007eg

  • There's an atheros patch floating around (I used it for my wireless). I'm not sure where you can download it, since i found it on the uphuck 1.3 release. It'd be a bit out of the way to download an outdated tiger release to get that patch, but you might have to.

  • dude you could use HyperCam it's better for taking comp vids!!

  • You can't use hypercam while it's booting lol

  • Plus hypercam + Mac OS X? Nope.

    There is no such thing.

  • u can run mac os x on a pc without any tweaks? u just buy the OS and install it normally?

  • No, it involves a TON of tweaking.

  • music ???

  • description ???

  • would i be able to use this on an original win 98/2000 computer? its a hewlett packard pavillion

  • I don't know.

  • No... it has to be a fairly new pc

  • can core 2 Quad run Leopard?

  • yup.

  • i have a dell would it work on that?

  • do you think it would work on an old IBM Thinkpad T23?

it has a 1.13 GHz Pentium 3, 512 meg or RAM, and i am not so sure of the graphics card

  • I don't think it'll run on a pentium 3.

  • CAN OSX leaPORD work on 1 GIGABYTE PC

and how much space is the iso image

  • does os x leopard works as smooth and stable on as pc as on a mac or not?

  • It varies with every PC and how much work you put into it. On my PC, it works just as smooth and stable as my Macbook.

  • Your icons are on the left side, not the right.

  • Really? I never knew that.

  • Also, is it possible to install OSX86 on a Foxconn micro ATX board? I think it's 630i or something like that.

  • All of the NVidia motherboards are very tricky, especially if you use a geforce graphics card.

  • Dang. I'm using a 9600GT. :-(

Is there a way though? Like, for a start, what distro would I use?

  • I'm really not sure, I havent done anything with OSx86 in almost a year now.

  • Mmk.

  • shoud i run this on a stock 2006 hp dv500 laptop

  • well in theory, it should work. but if you've never done anything like this before you might want to get another hard drive to do it on so you don't have to delete/risk your windows installation.

  • hey i built my computer

    i have core 2 quad Q8200

    Msi motherboard

    9500GT

    4gb ddr2...

Will this work? and wheres the best place to download (torrent)

  • what chipset does your motherboard use?

  • Chipset

    • Intel® G31 Chipset

    - Supports FSB 800/1066/1333MHz.

    - Supports dual channel, DDR2 667/800.

  • Yup. Try downloading Kalyway from isohunt.

  • i serached, should it just be an iso file or a while pile of files?

    thanks for your help

  • an iso is what you want.

  • hey i use a mac cd? or do i have to download the torrent?

    i hate torrents :(

  • You have to download the torrent unless you're capable of patching the original cd yourself, which is not an easy task.

  • Hey Halofreak

i am running kalyway 10.5.1 and am trying to get my wg311t working. I noticed you got your working with an atheros patch? Where might i find that patch?

Hopefully you'll help a fellow halofreak like myself. I actually just got done playing..

    Thanks!

    Dane

  • I actually used a wireless patch that was included in the uphuck 10.4.9 (1.3) tiger disc. I'm not sure where to find it separate but I know it's in that install disc.

Haha, I'm actually going to play some halo now ;)

    No problem,

    Brian

  • Sweet, I will try and download that. Was your initial install from that disc and you included that patch from the customize menu? Or are you able to extract that patch from the install disc and install it separately?

  • You can get the patch straight from the disc after you install leopard or you can install leopard, then boot to the tiger disc, and unselect everything except that patch from the installer menu.

  • Thanks for the help!

  • thanks for the mesage on buying genuine product dude yes we appretiate the work done by developers,i jus wish india was responsible like US users in this thing, neways no more cracks from now on,thanks for the mess again!
