If you have the Vengeance laser from the Deathclaw Sanctuary, an energy weapons skill of 100, the bloody mess perk, the ghoul ecology perk and the defender perk, these Overlords aren't much trouble at all. (The last 2 perks I mentioned are from the Point Lookout DLC.)

@ALSIX19 I'm not saying that. I'm lucky because I got into Fallout 3 quite late, so I just bought the Game of the Year edition, with all 5 DLCs. If you haven't got any of the DLCs, Point Lookout is one of the best to download. Broken Steel is awesome as well, as it increases your level cap to 30 and you can carry on with the game after the original ending. The Vengeance is still awesome without the perks I mentioned but pretty unstoppable with them :)

That's exactly what I did. I didn't have any companion and I just strolled into the hospital to find that an overlord made up about a third of the enemies. Each one took about ten stimpacks, fifty tri-beam laser rifle shots, and a few minutes of my time. Now, I always do that quest at a very early level to avoid the wrath of the overlords.

GOD I HATE THESE THINGS; they have a ton of health, do a ton of damage, and use ranged attacks. I had a DR of 85 and it still did around 50 hp of damage per shot, I also shot a mini nuke at it and it had a good bit of health left (Normal difficulty!).

The Super Mutuant Overlords with the gatling lasers are a PITA. But the worst are the ones using the tri-laser. The easiest are the ones wielding the Super Sledges. All you do is keep sniping a leg to slow them down then just kite them.

the best technique is to use mines and run. may not be fancy but it works against almost everything. bottlecap mines are best. and it doesn't require a high level. also if u have this much trouble with one the end of the main mission will really f*** u over. theres like 10+ overlords.
