@cosworth89 This is a common misconception amongst people today. A turbocharged engine must provide extra pumping work during the exhaust stroke to provide sufficient energy for the turbocharger. This pumping work is not present in normally aspirated or supercharged engines and causes a parasitic loss on the system comparable to that of a belt driven supercharger.
@PinkL4dy82 im quite sure he does, superchargers give a much flatter power curve, you have a very significant rise in horse power from very low revs all the way through, even if a turbo has a higher peak hp it will probably have a very dramatic gain in power reach the peak power and then you need to change gear, you only have your power for the last thousand revs or so

@LIP15 you realy are the moron here, yes rally uses turbo because they stay in the upper reaches of the rev range and have anti lag systems that after a short while fuck the turbo up. the speed that the turbo spins is irrelevant, the way that the two devices function are completely different. look at dyno sheets and compare a roots supercharger, a twin screw supercharger a centrifugal supercharger and a turbo, the first 2 give the best power curve. Look into hill climb British style loads of SC
@LIP15 also as an extreme example, take dragsters, yes very pointless as racing, im not really that into it, but it is a good example the superchargers on those sap 900hp, but that is more than compensated for when the vehicle makes between 8500-10000hp
