Great race!!! I have to say Cavic did his best, but Phelps is just an animal when it comes to swimming!! I'm Serbian and I am going to say that these two guys are great to watch every time they compete. Serbia is proud of Cavic, being a small nation and no matter what he wins, he will always be the best swimmer Serbia has had!

It wasn't banned because the Speedo didn't take off "up to two or three seconds" from people's times.

Everyone is, and during the Olympics, he almost never wore the full body suit, including in the 100 fly, because the suits of that time were still within reason and were not giving people enhanced times. And you can't be a junkie when you're smoking a plant that has less side effects than cigarettes and alcohol.

Cavic was wearing either the Jaked or the Arena suit. The LZR had polyurethane panels placed in "strategic" areas on the suit, whereas the other suits were almost (if not) entirely layered with polyurethane. Not only is this material more hydrodynamic, it has a high buoyancy, which provides a significant advantage. When the LZR first came out, it provided a huge advantage to Speedo athletes because no other suit featured polyurethane of any kind. Their competitors then them.

Michael Phelps won titles because of those controversial super fast suits!Cavic challenged him to swim in final without the suit(as Cavic swims without it).What Phelps did was he swum semi without it but in finals he had it against Cavic.(Phelps=looser)!Also in Olympics final,Cavic won but because the timer used is Phelps sponsor they sort of made up the story how sensors failed to record Cavic's touch.Everyone knows that those sensors are sensitive.We'll see in future,no more sp.suits.

Watch both semis in Italy.When Phelps isn't threatened he wears no suit!Same was in his semi-final heat.After Cavic broke his record in other semi,Phelps in finals wears a Speedo LZR fast suit!Over 100 World Records were broken by that suit.Only problem was that wasn't available to just any country but only few that participated in Nasa/Speedo project.Why was it controversial from very beginning and is now banned?By the way you and all others here can stick junkie Phelps up yours!

I know what he wore, and the fact is, when you're in the semis and quarterfinals, there is no need to go all out, and with all of the other racers wearing the full body polyurethane suits, Phelps was at a significant disadvantage, and because this is a short race, the suit plays a much larger role. It wasn't banned because the Speedo didn't take off "up to two or three seconds" from people's times.

@BoxyTheSpaceDog Suits of equal standards as the Speedo were provided to racers at the Olympics by other brands, and it wasn't as if Phelps was the only one wearing the LZR. Everyone is, and during the Olympics, he almost never wore the full body suit, including in the 100 fly, because the suits of that time were still within reason and were not giving people enhanced times. And you can't be a junkie when you're smoking a plant that has less side effects than cigarettes and alcohol.

Also, its not like pot is performance enhancing, it should weaken his performance yet he still managed to haul ass and beat everybody. Besides, he wasnt on it at the time of competition or anytime near competition the competition that would have effected him. if he was, we would know, the guy goes through a bunch of drug tests.

Phelps swam with the lzr in both the semi and the final but cavic swam in an even more controversial and beneficial suit. Also, you just said that sensors are sensitive, so its clear that phelps won. Besides, the question was never if phelps won or lost, it was if he won or tied, so can we please drop it. Either way, he wouldve got gold. and yes, no more sp. suits, that ended last year genius.
