I have used both types of Kanjira from REMO and I personally do not like the sound from this one. The other version, though does not have the resmblance or feel as this one, sounds way better. Only problem is the fingers tend to run off the smoothness of the skin.
@tintala My kanjira came with directions from Selvaganesh for getting a lower pitch. Mine as deep as his yet, though. I added the bracket sections as I can't post pics. Here are the instructions:
1. Turn screws clockwise and pitch drum slightly higher [than the factory tuning].
2. Place the palms of hand as illustrated in figure #2 and lightly press evenly on drumhead [looks like CPR].
3. Detune head turning screws counter clockwise.
4. Evenly tune drum as desired by turning screws clockwise.
@raosprid I tried these instructions again on a table (instead of just pressing the drum down on my leg) and mine sounds perfect now. So make sure you do it on a hard & flat surface.
He's a really good player, but the quality of the sound recording makes me not wanna buy the drum he's holding. There's only bell sound and barely any drum sound, though i'm sure it's should be the other way around.
@Jorickhoofd The guy is incredible, all that from a simple little instrument like that. Who cares about the sound. It's good enough for what it is. Some times i can't believe the stupid comments people make.
@congrve All I'm saying is that the guy deserves better quality for the art he produces. And I know i'm definately not the only one hoe cares about quality. Espacially when this guy is sponsored, playing for Remo. Remo should have put more work into it, if they want to promote their product, is all I'm saying.
Eh... The audio is low quality mono on the left channel only?? Why??
