  • I heard a brief interview with Mr. Taylor. He said that he was homesick when he wrote this, though he knew that he really had no home. :( I think that playing the guitar and writing songs might've saved his life to an extent.

  • it`s just so pure, how can you not appreciate this!

  • one of my favourite artists

  • Who in the world would dislike this video?

  • The legendary James Taylor lives on...

  • does anyone have proper tabs for this song?

  • I think like wine, he has gotten better with age. This song/video....is just beautiful. I love it.

  • A pure angel. God bless you, James. I love you.

  • James is awesome. Thanks for posting.

  • Talent on loan from God!!!!! This kind of career will never happen again, the quality and longevity of his music not to mention his impact on an entire generation or two or three.... The King of Singer Song Writers, thank You James, we love you brother!!!

  • still got it james

  • 4:37 guy couldnt stay awake for the whole show. lol

  • mY God this guy got better with agE!!!

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS GEM

  • notice how he fingers his "D''s & "A' 's in this tune.

kinda like how a lot of us finger a "G''s ...right?

it will leave it open for better fingering to follow

  • Had the chance to be in the audience that afternoon in the studio. Hearing this song in such intimate setting was amazing. Great memory. Thanks for posting this.

  • @jeffgora Did you meet the older gentleman who seemed to be sleeping?

  • Sweet BB James!!!

  • This is Great!, James Taylor is a great Musician.

  • that`s music, not reaggeton, yeah sing again

  • This is pure music. Each note so simple and but very majestic. I really enjoy playing along to this song. You really find yourself getting lost in it. Taylor, Dylan and Young are truly the greatest singer/songwriters of all time.

  • I heard this back in England when it came out. I loved England but that song gave me a new appreciation for wishing to be back home in Colorado. James Taylor is my favorite story teller.

  • His voice makes me sleep,, so angelic,,

  • molto bello

  • I know it sounds like it's supposed to put you to sleep but I can't coz I keep hitting the replay button

  • some one quick give him a "live forever pill" so he wont die and keep playing that amazing music!!!!!

  • It's incredible how he wrote his music. That whole period of time in music was awesome. Some of the best music came from those years....it's sure a lot better than the copycat garbage of today.

  • I wonder what passes through a mans mind as he plays a song he wrote so many years ago, longing for home. How much can change inside a man?

  • Monster finger picking for such a mellow tune. So inspiring.

  • @digglesMcgee Couldn't agree more. James Taylor is a master for sure. I am attempting to learn this song and the chord changes and picking patterns are just nuts ( to me anyway..just been playing guitar for like a year and a half or so ) J.T. makes it look so smooth and fluid...If I can get it down like a 1/4 of how he plays it,then I think I'll have done a pretty good job..

  • LOVE!!!

  • 1 person tried to hit the "add to" button and missed.

  • Dude, instead of being a stupid 17 year old teenager that listens pop stuff, I'm probably the only teen that listens to this :)

  • @FLIGHTCOMPANY speak for yourself bro.

  • The first time i heard this song was in the movie "Funny People". And since then I've heard it alot :-) Beautiful song!!

  • @boenrace u noe what, me too!

  • Honestly never heard of this song, but very smooth and warm!!

  • zero dislikes does not surprise me

  • Makes me homesick and makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. A timeless classic.

  • What an awesome rendition of this song he's played a million times. The little guitar nuances at 2:15, 2:26, 3:13, 3:25, 3:38 and 3:48 this simple arrangement so fresh. Very very cool !!!

  • james taylor is a great example of artists who write songs that stand the test of time

  • Thank you, James,...I can see the sunshine and feel the moonshine.....and I can go back to being young ......But hey! Now is good too...and so it's good to hear that it's not just a young man's song...You sing it for all times, James. Beautiful!!!

  • this is such a beautiful song...

  • A great version...By one of the masters...

  • Jackie Mae Taylor is his distant cousin. That my grandmother. She love his music,

  • Sounds exactly like he did 30 years ago, if not BETTER!!!

  • i luv this song sooooo much.....

  • look into his eyes and you will see what makes the world still moving

  • written in 1968...

  • i really love listening to the music of JT .junmac, phlippines

  • Have a fond memory of almost the same thing, on the same island. One of my favorite song ever. Thanks for sharing it with us.

  • thanks

  • i look at a dude like this.... collared shirt under a sweater... and i think man he used to be crazy. he did a shit ton of heroin and other assorted goodies. now he looks like a college professor. and the fact the that he's one of the most prolific songwriters ever... just teachers you the eternal lesson of you cant judge a book by its cover.

  • It feels like these songwriters in the 60-70s just pumped out these masterpieces! So many great songs come from that era and today were lucky if we get a song like this every ten years.

  • I hope Sirius doesn't allow that guy that said "yaaaaaayyy..." in any live performances anymore. Sounds like something a father would do after his 4 year olds mediocre pre-school play.

  • probably the only artist I've ever heard who sounds just as good if not better than when he was in his 20's

  • @simontdavies Well said, sir.

  • Makes me miss home

  • love from France

  • Can't wait to go see him in concert! Going in march!!!1

  • 200 likes and 0 dislikes. Never seen it before with a video that has so many likes, but James certainly deserves to have everybody's favor.

  • flawless

  • First rate singer, first rate composer. How many of those are there? He may be it.

  • Just as gorgeous sounding as decades ago. a dream man indeed....

  • CHALLENGE. Can anybody else match this singer songwriter Mr. James Taylor . Of course, Mcartney ,Collins, Sting(Sumner), Gabriel, POLLY BROWNE, Justin Heywood and just to name ANOTHER HERO of BRIT music Mr. Jeff Lynne

  • this is awesome

  • I prefer to be brainwashed by Charlie Manson music, written by the Def com, Troll, hypocritical army of lies. Sure they can't be around the truth. Wasn't that song called "let the bodies hit the floor". Yea the kind I like. So get your bags packed, your moving in. If you got me Marked for Death, I'll be a Carolina in my mind, K? Call it what you want, it take one to know one.

  • WOW !!!!!

  • amazing

  • fuck face book... in the face

  • @myamericanpie haha, looks like i'm not the only one looking him up after watching funny people :D

  • @JosFcGamesta whats funny people, a movie or sitcom?

you should check out his other music videos too, i havent heard a song yet i didnt like from JT.

lots of good music from the 70s, but back then, in my day you had to have talent for a band to get a record deal.

  • @caveman1968 No you didn't, you just had to be sellable. its just now they stifle talent wherever possible.

  • This man always has and always will reduce me to tears of happiness and joy from the sheer beauty of his raw, undeniable talent.

  • one of the greats!

  • what can you say, one of the greats!

  • i've gotta say it believe it or not idc but it happened: when he went to UNC, my Grandfather had to escort him home when he partied too hard one night when my Grandfather was police officer.

  • Very nice!

  • Funny how all these artist play on here (sirius)with all there pieces and bands and back up and they still don't hold a candle to James all by himself. Rock awn sweet James!

  • He is just amazing, and a very gooooood guitarist! <3333

    I love his music

  • Music like this doesnt exist anymore. Fantastic tune. I could listen to it all day.

  • saw this song on the movie funny people....Such an awsome tune

  • It is amazing that JT sings better now than his early years!. Go JT!

  • I spent 30 years longing for a "Rainy Night In Georgia", the last 20 have been for "Carolina in my Mind."

  • <3 it

  • Nobody sings like JT. Wow. So glad to be around when he's alive.

  • freakin awesome. unlike some other singers, he sounds exactly the same as he was 30+ years ago

  • you can see the emotion in his eyes at 4:20 - 4:27 , but pretty much all the way through , like someone posted , i listen to real heavy stuff , but this song is on eof my fave songs along with alot of 80s pop and country songs , love this guy man

  • I hate the part after 4:58 so bad...

  • so so beautiful makes my eyeys well up with tears of comfort and an awkward happiness mixed with an undecided sadness but happiness at the same moment. james taylor the man, the legend, never a myth. God bless james taylor.

  • JT sings lullabies for adults (4:36). Took him away on a cloud!

  • Something about his voice is just perfect.

  • lol 4:36 the geezer must not like JT too much. if i saw a dude sleepin like that id throw my guitar at his old liver spotted head

  • I see there was some talk about this guitar. I also noticed mention of Justin Hayward. It is indeed an Olson and story has it that Justin really liked the Olson that was in the backroom of an LA music store that was made specifically for Mr. Taylor. Justin liked it so much he asked James if he could purchase it and James politely agreed. You will see it in some of Justin's videos. James just had another one made!

  • Whisper something soft and kind.......listen

  • JT - one of the musical gifts we've been given. Thanks, James, for all the years and all the music. This is one of my favorites...

  • I love you James in Carolina

  • im 16 and even i like this and i listen to stuf like trivium, bfmv ,devil wears prada this just shows how good he is

  • This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I live in Seattle and am originally from South Carolina, so I can relate lol...amazing song

  • this song allways reminds me of my dad

  • old , but gold

  • Muth fuckinh JT son....

  • "He's old, songs are old"...gee, such a deep thinker. Anyways, love the Olson. Someday would like to have one. With guys like Taylor, Phil Keaggy, Justin Hayward, and the master, Chet Atkins, as ones who played them (and some still do)...yep, need to get one.

  • Wow, the best. And the dude below me should blow me

  • He's old, Song's are old, But forever remembered.

  • Love it.

  • Thanks,I love this.

  • N.C. 'Home Sweet Home' ;)

  • one of the greatest acoustic songs ever

  • One Word:

    Beautiful.

  • Has this guy been the recepient of our nation's highest artist designation?

In my mind he is a natural treasure like the Grand Canyon.

    Bobby Blackhawk

  • he has been in my shop. Nice guy, but a little stand-off-ish. Anyway, cool tune, well done.

  • true talent.. nothing but his pure voice... very soothing.

  • Gee, at the end (4:36) there's a old feller in the audience who looks asleep!

  • What kind of guitar is that?

  • @AZ89014 that's an olson guitar made for him by james olson, a pretty expensive guitar (15 thousand us dolars a piece)

  • that pretty much shows how well you're informed about this outstanding musician. Go ahead and write a similar 'piece of crap'. And did you btw know the're still playing this Mozart stuff? Bummer.

  • @2009herbie I'll bet you look like a dimwitted sonofabitch; you just opened your ugly gob and proved it.

  • @2009herbie Of course he's written new stuff--and it's great. But many people like and request the older stuff that they grew up on. It's not his fault. He does what most performers do: gives his audience what they want. I'm sure that he only played this song because it was requested by Sirius. And he didn't choose to post it on YouTube; someone else posted it. Geez, do you even have a brain?

  • Awesome, Thanks James.
