The New York Times is famous for running stories that declare a trend. When you read these stories, almost inevitably it turns out that four rich persons in Manhattan and Park Slope have done said thing. Thus, the "trend."
THIS IS SO TRUE IT MADE ME CRY! I freelanced for 30 years - Glamour, McCalls, Womans Day... Sometimes it was fun. A lot of time it made a root canal look easy.
Reminds me of assignments I got from Women's Day and the now defunct New York Woman. That one was about women.;.of lord, the assignment was so convoluted I can't remember the thread I was supposed to follow. It came out of the editor's own experience and was nearly as nutty as the above. As for Women's Day, the editor was rude and condescending and of course....was promoted up.

Somehow, this filmmaker has managed to eavesdrop on my life and has created a short film about my life as a freelancer. I have to go kill myself now.

GAH! I wanted to cry, too. It was almost perfectly realistic. :[ Sad that so many of us have had conversations like this one.

This has a hell of a lot in common with graphic design freelancing also. Great job!

This is my life. Thank you. Best lines ever:
"I have a fun story for you."
"I don't write for fun. I write for money."
