About the divulging of secrets. My father watched the RAF doing the real testing for the Bouncing Bombs at Gibraltar Point in Lincolnshire. Lots of civilians saw it so it was not the greatest attempt at keeping things secret.
@gunnermorph i alwaysunderstood the bombs were tested at Chesil beach as i have film of the events .Gibralter point was where the testing shots for the film were made (read Richards Todd's autobiography (In camera)'he tells about the location scenes.
AGH! Barnes Wallis is a disgrace! At 5:05 he starts divulging secrets of strategic importance to a civilian with no conceivable security clearance! Nevertheless, this is probably the greatest propaganda masterpiece evah! You can keep your Riefenstal. This is what the obverse looks like. He reminds me of a young Samuel Beckett. Amazing film... It destroys Star Wars...
Wallis telling the doc all about it is a plot device for the film only. In reality when he first met Gibson, Wallis would not divulge the target initially even to him. Quite agree though, it is an amazing film.
Oh my god you shjould educate yourself. Read The Dam Busters by Paul Brickhill !! The man was absolutely brilliant and very humble. Did you know that after the war he was awarded 10,000 ounds for his war time work and immediately donated it to a fund set up to educate the sons and daughters of men who died serving with the RAF. Not begrudging the English or American "people", but the war was collectively won by a number of truly exceptional individuals.
I love the touch of the doctor not wanting to take any of the sugar ration.

@GeeWizz668 My comment referred to contrived action of the clip. I have immense respect for the real Wallis!

@ledatape Rather clumsy bit of plot exposition IMO. I'm sure Barnes Wallis was the soul of discretion in real life :-)

That's my friend Nina Parry whom the doctor came to see. Isn't she sweet!
