  • Masterful!

  • His cuts are small for a good reason. When you get old and hit 8-dan, your joints aren't as mobile or flexible as they used to be. A 8-dan hanshi sensei told us once. You are all young, don't imitate me, make your cuts as big as you can. What you need to take from this is even though his cuts are small, his movements are precise, cuts are crisp, timing and intent is true.

  • This Iaido Hanshi 8th Dan Takashige Yamazaki?

  • @Hobbies 306: or maybe because after 2 days of training he told us all to be comfortable and relax.

  • Why every student isn't lined up, sitting in seiza, and devoting him their utmost attention is beyond me...

  • @Hobbes306

because they are long nose dudes with no understanding of Rei!!

  • I have a sensei named "Sensei Scott Jordan"

  • I hear what Proton1 is talking about, before I saw who it was I had the same thoughts, but when I saw that it is Yamazaki Homare Sensei, I have to shut my mouth. He has made great contributions to Iaido in Japan and throughout the world...regardless of the his rank and ability.

I participated in an iaido seminar a few months ago and Yamazaki sensei was the presenter. He actually spent a few minutes talking with me about the importance of spreading true iaido internationally. A great sensei

  • Powerul, dignified performance. Utsukushii!

  • There is no comment to make .Respectons those who pass on to us their knowledge, who voluntarily make hundreds, or thousands of kilometers every year to try to show us and to make us feel the way of the sabre.

  • I think that people dare to criticize such masters only because they can do it without consequences, anonymously, and they think they know everything from youtube videos. I saw recently Chris Mansfield sensei (7th Dan) enbu (live) and I was just blown off by his skills, his posture, figure and concentration. That enbu was like a real sword fight. And about 'Proton1'... for me it is just crazy to say anything against sensei with 8th Dan.

  • thank you for the lesson.

  • Perfection!

  • Funny, my Sensei told us about this Video and the comments related to it today in the Dojo. And he could not believe how someone could say that a Hachi-Dan's cuts aren't what they should be coming from a person who is a lower grade. Especially when Yamazaki-san is the Chariman of ZNKR. Makes me laugh aswell to be honest.

  • The gentleman in white is Kawaguchi sensei.

  • Im a little confused as to if this is a different Yamazaki sensei, but the gentleman in the white, in seiza in the background looks more like Yamazaki sensei that I have seen before.

Is this just a mislabeling, or is this a different Yamazaki sensei?

  • EXELENTE ....THANK YOU

  • Complaint??? you have a complaint???

    Please!!! please!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!

How can you dare criticizes to a hachidan??? how can you think you have any appropriate skill to see if a hachidan does his techniques well or not!!!! also... you think you can do that from a video???? what you need... an maybe all we need is be little bit humble.

  • Proton 1. Do I know you? Perhaps. Still, the ZNKR generally must be gratified to know that in the opinion of a "fairly-high ranked iaidoka that the chairman of the committee responsible for the development of Seitei iaido has a technique that "conforms acceptably to orthodax ZNKR iai". Hopefully he will soon acquire a level of technique that you approve, given that he already has the approval of all of the ZNKR
