  • THIS IS SO FUNNY !!!

  • @ The twelve people who disliked this video:

What about Steven Hawkins? Hellen Keller? They might be handicapped but they changed the world.

    Music fans... what about Beethoven?

If the handicaped are given chance they can do better than us! They have the "LETS DO IT" thingy which many of us dont.

  • First I hit the dislike button, then I hit the like button! :O

  • This is really weird to cite in a bibliography...

  • Thanks for the call this week! Sorry missed it, but so cool to have the VM!

  • thanks so much for posting this I have a lot of memories of it from childhood

  • I have been listening to this song for as long as I can remember and I just realized that the teacher is called Mrs. Aryan. Steve Taylor is a brilliant genius and I love his music.

  • Why do you "miss" him? He's still around and about to release a movie with Don Miller (of Blue Like Jazz fame). Steve Taylor rocks!!! (Even in this brilliant early 80's satirical video).

  • "Mrs. Aryan"

    Brilliant.

  • What on earth is the meaning of this song?

  • @Esperanza29331 well listen to the children ,,, im sure youll figure it out ,,,, here ill give you a hint ,, mrs Aryan thinks the perfect blue eyed man and the mrs Collens should be left in the life boat ,,,,, the perfect ones ,,, THINK

  • Steve, we miss you and will love you forever. You are the most awesome musician ever in the Christian music field. Even with a lost compass, I still love you and am so glad you blessed my life.

  • Steve, the world is screaming for another "album" . Please...

  • This is the first time Ive seen this video. I searched for the song cause I remember playing lifeboat at Redwood Christian Summer Camp.......

  • I remember this video. I also remember "playing lifeboat" values clarification exercise in my psychology class in high school. I think it taught us more about ourselves than about life, what we valued and what we dismissed way too easily and dispassionately. I'm not sure it was useful for anything other than possibly a federal study of what 15 year olds (or younger, like the ones in this video) thought was important in life.

  • They really use to play this game in public school....

  • This song is awesome, we had write a response to it in Comp.

  • Steve Taylor: The only Christian-Rock musician to ever perform in drag.

  • I haven't heard this song in decades. Times have changed... I was a little suprised by the lyric, "Throw out the retard so he won't be rockin' the boat."

  • Proverbs 23:18

There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.

  • Classic

  • I like the BANG at the end…

  • woah this song takes me back... hmmm reminds of healthcare reform..... hehehe

  • Wow. This one takes me back. I heard this in jr. high. I was a huge steve taylor fan back in the day. I still have cassettes of the meltdown album and i predict 1990. chagall guevera was great stuff too.

  • I remember this song well. My son was about 6 when we heard it and he could sing the entire song. He met Steve the next year at Cornerstone Fest and he was discussing music with him.

  • Obama Care 101 !

  • The best song I ve ever heard. I guess it s allmost 25 Years ago.

    :-))

  • Is it wrong that I'm aroused by the teacher? :-0

  • What is this song even talking about?

  • @Lotsoffun111

There was a "game" in the 80's that was used in some classrooms to "teach" children how to be selective about who were the most productive in society (i.e. ranking the masses). The song is satire...showing that the "game" was just indoctrination of children, "teaching" them that the most productive were the most perfect.

  • @Lotsoffun111 It's talking about at the time when schools were teaching kids about some people were more important then others, it caused outrage by smart people and thus this song was born ;)

  • @Lotsoffun111 "Values Clarification" - philosophy, morality, psychology, humanism - you name it

  • lettuce patch doll! lol!

  • I remember this video, somewhat, I remember a version where Blair from the Facts of Life was the news reporter. Or did I slip between worlds again?

  • @maplebob23 You are thinking of the 'Meltdown' video - that has Lisa Welchel as the anchorwoman...

  • @maplebob23 Same here-- I remember this totally!!

  • anybody seen the deathcare bill of MaObamas complete with death panels?

  • does anybody have obama's email adresse so he can veiw this video?

  • It's president (at) whitehouse (dot) gov...

  • Good video!

  • I think, instead of the government handing out cash to anyone who's unemployed, the welfare system should revolve around helping people get jobs. "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will feed for a lifetime."

I think its highly unjust to take money from people who do work and give it to people who don't - that's why we don't have feudalism anymore. As a civilized world, we should help the poor, but that shouldn't include every bum too lazy to get a job.

  • Steve Taylor, the only Christian artist who dared to "clone" the David Bowie sound at the time. Back in the day I had hair kinda like his as I was into the new wave thing & my mom wouldn't let me grow a mullet. The message is definitely still relevant.

  • This was an 80's message that is so relevant to today.

  • i always thought the kids said:

    'YES MRS. AIR HEAD'!!

  • Misheard lyrics at their finest, LOL.

  • I thought it was "arian". lol

  • @Envergure Yes, it was, and is, "Mrs. Aryan."

  • Comment removed

  • "Maybe we'all stumbled upon WHY his lack of commercial success in the past...if he'd done a "Mrs. Doubtfire" or "Tootsie" stage show, he could have been a HUGE SMASH HIT!!!"

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. John 15:19

  • What relevance does this scripture have to this?

  • This is what will happen with Government National Health Care. Some will be accepted for treatments and others won't. There won't be enough money to treat everyone, especially with expensive life saving treatments.

  • You can be certain that the rich and "pretty people" will get their treatments while the blind and disabled will be left on the side of the road. It is the history of all totalitarian governments to discard those they consider a burden on "the system."

  • @DontKnowDontGo

amen, this is ALL part of their EUGENICS agenda! WAKE UP AMERICA!

  • Currently, overweight lifelong smokers who overeat simple sugars and thus incur expensive chronic ailments are treated by our hospitals free of charge.

OK, Christians can point the finger of blame, but can they govern through these complex issues?

  • As a Christian, I find this comment ignorant. This is what is happening right NOW with health care. I cannot afford health care, and I find it completely disgusting that loving Christians would prefer that we people under the poverty level not have health care under the banner of the free market and "choice."

  • Well.

I CAN afford health insurance, but I don't want it because I consider insurance companies to be scam artists (akin to Enron, Goldman Sachs, et cetera).

But instead my government is going to fine me almost $3000 for not having it. That's anti-freedom

  • @Aelindil

Talk about ignorance. Government healthcare will be a failure, just like it is everywhere else. Far more people will die under such system. If you were really a Christian you would take the responcibility to help others on yourself rather than asking the government to steal from one to give to another. it's called Natural Law, or Natural Rights. Check out the Dec. Ind. you ignorant lib. Supporting Gov. healthcare is a sin, as you will harm others in the name of good.

  • @Aelindil

just FYI, the new healthcare bill has nothing to do with caring about people, it's part of the NWO agenda. Look into it, be a sheep for Christ, not the powers that be. You are being lied to, ok?

Google Alex Jones, Endgame. Or, Google video Wake Up Call. ALL Christians need to know this. Wake up everybody.

  • Your own government believes in the "life boat" philosophy, that's why they are putting out swine flu in the populous and have mass graves for the weak to die off.

  • Values Clarification is what is taught through Communism, Socialism, the liberal agenda, republicans, our schools because of Bush, Clinton, FDR,....

  • lol wtf

  • Thanks for posting this, I remember it from "back in the day" lol

    Yes, Mrs. Aryan....

  • I am a believer, but not a "Christian"--but I love Steve Taylor.

  • Mrs. Arian LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL!

I forgot how much I love this song....

Steve Taylor is one of my Lords of Satire!

  • My brother and I used to play this song all the time when we were younger! We played it on our record player!

  • AAHH me too my brother and I have this video and I grew up watching this

  • The secular world plays "life boat" and our kids are taught to "kill" others who are less important (i.e., christians and old people). This is proven fact.

    Repent or go to hell.

  • Umm..I was never taught that.

  • I just watched that is P.E today lol

we are doing a subject on desicion making.. :)

  • lol i just watched that video in our p.e class.pretty funny

  • Wow I haven't heard that song in forever.

  • nice legs Steve. We had to play this game in High School in the 1980's I hated playing God with people's lives.

  • Is this really taught in school? We played a game where there was a shipwreck, but we had to decide what things to save & we could only save 3 things.

  • This never gets old.

  • Wonder where those kids are now?

I listened to his music a lot in the 80s. Now I finally get to see videos!

  • Hahaha, dolls with bricks tied to their feet, hehe, thought that was funny.

  • Anybody out there have "Shortstop"? What a great song that is!

  • Awsome message!!!!

  • We played the same game except it was a fallout shelter.

  • Man I miss Steve!

  • yea, me too.

  • hahahahaha omg i love this song! i love steve taylor

  • The first concert I ever went to was Steve Taylor back in 1994 in Dayton, OH. It was great!

  • that is so true, sad really

  • I love Steve Taylor - I've only waited 20 or so years to see this video - funny stuff! I wonder what these kids (now grown up) think (or thought of the video at the time?!? Thanks for posting this!

  • Wow. I like soooo wrote the same comment, then found yours! Totally knarly!

  • It's sick. They are STILL teaching this lesson in school.

  • Cloneliness is next to godliness. Right?! (I want to be a clone.)

  • kind of funny

  • i never got the point of this

  • A lot better reviews than "Jim Morisons grave" where most everyone missed the boat.

  • Steve...in a dress...SCARY!

  • Pretty impressive...especially for its time.

Also, the male reporter kinda looks like former Senator Rick Santorum.

  • what is that little embedded picture that flashes in the top right corner of the screen about halfway through?

  • "Yes Mrs. Aryan" I loved then and I still do. Just wish there was a video for "Easy Listening"

  • Were those kids dressed like The Village People?

    GASP!

  • Boy do I miss Steve Taylor!

  • kazbianco - you got me wondering, so I googled "lifeboat values clarification", and apparently it is very true - some really interesting discussions out there about this...

  • I'd forgotten about this one, did they really have this game called Lifeboat?

  • I was only 9 when this song came out and must have seen this video about 40,000 times. Steve was my hero back then and he still is :)

  • I love Steve Taylor. I was a chubby skater kid when this album came out. I played this album over and over.

  • Wicked! Loved it! Would make a good T.V. reality game show. Politicians as the guys in the boat versus the viewing public. Phone in and vote for which useless tub of lard you wanna see drown next!

  • classic stuff. never saw this version before either.

  • "On the Fritz" is posted now - enjoy!

  • Wow, the extended version! This is awesome! Do you have anything else from videoworks?
