Plus, this is not bullshit "Kungfu Fighting" shit for white people - they are learning a real Martial Art in which self-discipline is paramount - meaning these kids will have better self-control than your average American kids. TKD is mostly superfluous garbage that'd get you laid out against even untrained hicks throwing haymakers. If you support TKD as a youth discipline exercise, more power to you. It's effective for teaching kids discipline, perseverance, and patience. But that's about where it's usefulness ends. Adult TKD practitioners are deluded.

My father was a Taekwondo instructor for around 30 years and I've seen a lot of kids come and go and heard many different stories. But the one thing I always heard from anyone that stuck with it for a few months or more benefited from martial arts their entire lives, not just as a form of self defense but as a structure for self improvement in many different core value areas.

It's accepted that Asian parents have high expectations for their children and will encourage them to do more things, and sometimes take it too far by making it pressured for the child. It's generally accepted that there are too many fat annoying uninformed Americans.
