  • Bob Mould. You RULE!

  • This blows. I found this by looking up "the shithole of all shit for any music." It came right up!

  • Bob is a punk rock legend. I can listen to any of his bands or any of his albums, any day of the week.

  • One of Bob's most beautiful songs, and most brutally honest. His flaws are prominently displayed. And the guitar sound is fabulous.

  • Sad song. Beautifull!

  • Bob Mould is one of the Musicans which walks my Life since 1984. We had good and bad times together.

  • go

  • I always have and always will adore Bob Mould. His music is featured prominently in the soundtrack of my life.

  • whats with the shitty camera work

  • After all these years Bob still touches me...bravo

  • I found this dude cuz I just listened to Foo Fighter's Dear Rosemary featuring Bob Mould.

  • @blaky039 Same.

  • @blaky039 me too, and so glad I did... :)

  • Long Live Bob Mould. Thank You.

  • the more i listen, the more amazing this song is. i am almost in tears.

  • owwww been a punk all my life and this is the first music thats stopped me in close to 30 yrs, quality x

  • owwww

  • Bob Mould is simply a genius...his music, from the early Husker Du and Sugar days,

through his solo work, he never fails to hit the emotional notes in his songs. Saw and met him in NYC years ago, signed an autograph, and I told him he was the Jerry Garcia of alt music, and he smiled at that lol.

Check him out, and see him live, you won't be Disappointed. Rock on BOB!!

  • hmm..it's *ok*..a grower i think. but the Freud rocks out look..suppose it suits him, i'm just not feeling it

  • @peoplesrepub0fEmily naw, changed mind-was just tryna persuade myself coz it's BM..actually (imo) it's the wrong side of earnist. new-agey therapy group. fail.

  • genius... speechless after that ?

  • I last saw him 1999 @ KU-Lawrence - same place b4 that 1989 - 1980 same place.

I see him now - HERE! TIME IS A THIEF! 1980 was the week before last!!! THEFT!

  • Thirty years. How many make it that long?

  • fuck Pete Townshend, Bob's my guitar hero!

  • @yamon98 Personally, I love 'em both as musicians, songwriters, and philosophers of the human condition. Keep in mind that it was Bob who marvelled at his copy of "Happy Jack" when he was a kid.

  • To Jon Groat: Why does Bob sound like he's at the bottom of a well? This amazing song from this amazing artist deserves amazing mixing. I hoped that Newsweek could have afforded a better mix, but apparently I was wrong...

  • hows the chord go at 1:44 and 2:40, (it's played throughout the song). I hate it when guitar players play chords like that that you can't tell what they are from looking at them cuz when they play them it looks like their fingers are all lined up in a row on the same string. :(

  • I wanna know if Bob's a granpa yet. His daughter I saw as a young adolescent 12 years ago. She was a lil doll.

  • @salinagrrrl69 he has a daughter? but isn't he gay?

  • @AUSROTTENY2K Go into any gay bar and do a survey. 1/4 to 1/2 the men have had kids. Same goes for lesbians too.

  • I love you Bob!

  • Maybe alittle Just For Men on the beard.lol

  • is this song about him breaking up with his boyfriend?

  • This song could be in his 3rd album. Between "Anymore Time Between" and "Roll Over and Die"

  • a good looking man just saying

  • this song keeps coming back...infectious....

  • master song writer

  • Bob soothes. That's it. He's always been an honest songwriter, and ultimately, that's why he is so great (IMHO). Be it his rage, or as in this song, his compassion, he let's you know where he is, and ideally where you are, no tricks, no bs, just pure simple emotion. Damn...

  • He looks older, but that awesome voice has stayed the same.

  • I like the idea of a rock star that looks like my uncle dave.

  • he used to look old and quite fat, then much later he got thin and looked young and now he looks old

  • One day he looked 30 and next day he looked 60. Guess all that time on the road caught up with him.

  • How true! How true! If I had one superpower to do good with I wish I had the ability to allow people to see themselves for how they really are perceived! I think most women would be shocked to find out they aren't the "angel" they think they are but instead are actually "poison!". Their whole world falls apart around them but it's everybodys fault but theirs and they are pissed because their man didn't save them. When the black cloud always follows you its time to look in the mirror. Go Bob!

  • ya know, this isn't SO different from too far down or hardly gettin over it. So it's not even a far leap from his husker days, nevermind getting old.

  • @222tattoo

it takes a woman to fuck up a good man

  • @AzurePalmsSensation

Bob is not on that team. But He is and will always be a god to me!!

  • @munkefuk wasn't talking about bob at all. it was my own interpretation of this song.

  • @AzurePalmsSensation got ya..=)

  • @AzurePalmsSensation It takes a fucked up woman to fuck up a good man. Trust me.

  • Bob - I LOVE this song. It really resonated with me and a past relationship. In fact, your "If I can't change your mind" actually helped me get out of that effed up relationship you were singing about! These two songs are "Killing me softly" moments for me!! lol But seriously, thanks for what you do! Big bear hugs!

  • Good to see you Bob, you're an old pal.

  • Love you Bob, Always have.

  • This is boing. I know I am supposed to care.... but I don't.

  • him and paul weller, something similar in a way

  • @abebg Yes, both great songwriters who continue to grow and explore after 30 years in the biz. Cheers!

  • To dickship2312. If you are calling Bob Mould a jackoff then I'm sorry to say that you are a lowlife nobody who is, was, and always will be a nobody with no talent or legacy to leave behind. People like you make me want to regurgitate. Go jack yourself off, but I'm sure it's already in your hand. May you choke on your load as you swallow your endeavor. You are a toilet paper ass wipe. That's your legacy and it's definitely a royal flusher. But a crude person like you has an outhouse. Right?

  • it's so sweet...

  • He's still a jackoff.

  • bob got sappy..... anger makes for great music... long live husker

  • @thebruno44 depression is anger inverted - for god's sake he's not 18 anymore

  • Well Nice Voice And He Sings With His Soul

  • ah man, bob mould got old. i remember him as a young angry man in husker du. now he looks like a pensioner wearing a funny joke disguise face thing, complete with plastic nose and humerous glasses.

  • "The broken ones" Do they pretend to be broken for sympathy? Maybe some of them are broken, but by who's standard? You can be broken and not know it. Luckily, life always always always goes on.

  • @schmittelt just finish your 101 psych. course mate?

  • @jacotango No. Just life experiences

  • @schmittelt fair enough. just sounded lacking in compassion. the net/utoob often gets lost in the fact that's there's no intonation or body language. and, I guess, having followed Mr Mould's entire career and knowing a fair bit about his personal life i'm most likely defensive of him. no offence.

  • @jacotango None taken. There's a little piece of me that will always be broken after a number of years of being effectively null and void.

  • this man needs a band. he's too soft.

  • @oscarvestdijk

listen to Husker Du or Sugar...the boys got bands m8 this is just a solo project

  • @oscarvestdijk man, that the funniest thing I've ever heard. buy a CD called 'Candy Apple Grey' or 'Zen Arcade', etc. by Huskerdu and see how soft Bob is. Or if you really want to be blown through the roof buy 'Copper Blue' by Sugar.

  • floors me everytime i listen to this...

  • [p;oftgkinemj fetjreaWa

  • best male vocals of the 80/90's (sorry frank black or black francis or whatever) all are his

  • Guitar is a Line 6

  • Thank you! I was going crazy...

  • can ye no just be happy its the excellent Sir Bob Mould Husker a DU - DU

  • Can anyone tell me what brand of giutar is this?

  • Can ANYONE tell me what that changeup chord in the bridge is? Been trying to figure it out for a week!

  • What part? the I always find the broken one part?

    it goes Fm, A, Db, Asus2 B

  • @Joe1039 ... Db and Asus2? Where are you playing those (relative to the capo)? - I have the others as right, but these are vexing me! thx

  • yes, relative to the capo. The Asus2 plays like this

    x02400

  • @Joe1039 Thanks - it still sounds like I am missing this somehow. Maybe it's the jangly effects that throwing off my ear, but it still sounds off... On the recording he has a synth going over it with higher notes as well - ??

  • On the recording I'm hearing at least 3 guitars so it could be pretty much anything. I don't hear a keyboard until the bridge and it's an organ playing block chords. But I forgot, all A chords in the song are Asus2 (fingered as I told you). I didn't transcribe the song from the album version anyway but rather the Daytrotter Session he made in March. It's pretty much the same as this one. It turns around in the end. so after

    Gbm-Asus2-Db-Asus2-B, it goes

    Gbm-Asus2-Db-B-Asus2.

  • @Joe1039 OK - I'll keep messin with it - thanks for your help!

  • yer some songwriter bob...

  • i'LL ALWAYS BE MORE THAN A FAN.

WHEN ARE YOU PLAYING "JON AND PETE" AGAIN??????

  • For the record - I prefer being back in the shadows. Thanks Bob.

  • Lame? Vicepad must be young and energetic. Congratulations on that. (sucker).

  • He's still got it.

  • I love the look, if it's occasional. It's amazing to watch him like this. I saw Husker Du when I was 17, came of age in my 20's with Workbook and the Sugar albums. Bearded Bob Mould is cool Bob Mould to me.

  • the song is good and its great to see bob again.

  • beautiful ...youve torn my heart

  • That song was awesome but the second year art student editing job on the camera nearly drove me crazy.

  • whoops ! That was intended as a reply to someone who waffled on about this being rubbish !

  • Good stuff ,I have been a Husker Du(Bob Mould )fan since Metal Circus album. Bob has a sound no one can copy!

  • Honestly: This version is even better than the (fantastic) one on the album! By the way: keep the beard!

  • bob! lose the beard.

  • woooow, cant stop listening to that song...

hes a great singer, so much passion :-)

  • @gotrixde me niether. this must be my 50th listening in a row. Bob Mould is my favorite musical artist ever. this song is so good it belongs on his materpiece 'copper blue' (yeah i know it was sugar) but even though they are a great trio i have always thought them and the du wouldn't have been much without Bob.

  • c'mon, bob, mean it again.

  • Great song from a great album. Respect.

  • Great song, love bob moulds stuff.Husker du were one of the greats , who predated so much music to come, by at least ten years.

  • Rubbish. See: Zen Arcade

  • hahaha, yeah, he's getting old.

  • you say getting old as if that's a bad thing

  • Getting old dosen'T mean getting lame like this. Just watch peter Brotzmann, Paul Flaherty or John Colthrane...

  • If mellowing out=lame, then touche'. I like it though. Just remember the line from Bob's song "Return to Dust" ...Growing old, it's hard to be the angry young man...

  • @schmittelt

I think it's a good look for Bob.

  • bob grew up - you obviously didn't.

  • Hehe maybe, but you have to admit that husker du was genius...this is not. Not bad thought.

    Im just notalgic i guess.

  • Workbook is still one of my favorite albums...but it 'd been some time since i felt that same way about Bob Moulds work...I love this track. Look forward to hearing the rest of the CD!!

  • I went off Bob Mould for while but now he's growing on me again.....

  • GuyMontag... you are 100% right, but that's not saying much!!! Did you see what he looked like during the Husker days!?! Who cares, though, Husker, Sugar, solo, Bob Mould = pure genius.

  • time's been kind with you mr. Mould, you look better than ever

  • Excuse me Blah Blah is incredibly relevant. As a product of a kid who was besotted w Bob Moulds Workbook in 1990 something... This shit is up to date with me. I scammed it from limewire thinking it was back in the day Bob. What a revelation! Love it. Its a synthesis of the mood indulgent post band records - and all His Sugar and beyond songwriting. Bob still does it for me > I'm so happy. (Re: wasted World) PJ. May 09.

  • Love this man YEAH!!

Their two latest albums are the best!!!

  • Been listening to Mould for 30+ yrs now...his music has fueled many sessions on the ramp and in the park. His voice and music has gotten me thru some seriously rough times. From the bottom of my heart...thank you Bob. I'm a fan for life.

  • I love Bob Mould and the new album, but I think Bobs quite fixated on this track,I only see him do this track at interviews etc. Great track but there are plenty of other tracks on the album as good if not better that I think he should play!! Anyone agree?

  • i love bob's music but he always plays the songs to quickly live.

  • Bob Mould and Frank Black who's else?

  • I'm really excited for his new album. And yeah, he's looking good here,

  • I love that he's doing more acoustic stuff again. Workbook is still my favorite and seeing him on tour doing an acoustic set was one of my favorite concerts.

  • I think Bob Mould, and than i think "Thank you", I just can't help it.

Classic punk hardcore's best and most sincere legacy is this huge songwriter.

  • Great song from a fantastic musician. Bob Mould is a true artist. Thanks for the music!!!

  • I'm happy for Bob that he's a happier person these days than he used to be.

But man, his music sure has gotten dull since he's no longer a miserable bastard.

  • Bob Mould i adore you. You are a true inspiration.

  • Blue Turns To Pink

  • Bob Mould has been a hero of mine since 1992 and this song continues to explain why: Honest from the heart genius!

  • What happened?? Far, far, far from the days of Land Speed Record..

  • 28 years is what happened, ha ha.

  • All the better. We can't be stupid punks forever.

  • @jdsmith128 Stupid Punk is a blanket generalization, and while, in my youth I did ALOT of stupid things, I can hardly attribute that to my musical tastes. It's more a fact of youth than of a scene.

    My 2 cents.

    great song.

  • @jdsmith128 YES WE CAN!!

  • He's aged albeit better than the flagon of wine you kept from the year of Land Speed Record.....

    /Loves That Album So Much

    //Loves his newer stuff too...

  • I've seen much better vids of Bob. His voice can't truly shine without being LOUD!

  • Whoa, he looks quite different with a beard...

  • When using contractions, the apostrophe appears in place of the omitted letter. Hence the word " don't "

  • When correcting someone's grammar, end each sentence with a period.

  • When correcting someone's train of thought, differentiate between "grammar" and "punctuation"

  • I've always worshipped the ground Bob walks on. He's so talented, smart and good looking that it annoys me that there are so many lesser people out there raking in the cash Bob deserves

  • We love Bob! Awesome song!

  • Bob Mould! Yes.

  • there's no one like bob mould... just beautiful.

  • i get more and more annoyed with Bob - because he is so fucking talented. he has been one of my 2 heroes - the other being Pete Townshend - for years, and he just keeps getting better and better. i just adore him.

  • talk about a underexplored genre of music- im trying to bring some of their old sound into my band. :p cool cool

  • I loved Husker Du!!!

  • Can't wait for the new album!

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Love Bob Mould. I used to have the BIGGEST crush on him during the Husker Du days. He's still a sexy beast. :) Great voice. Great songwriter.

  • I thought I was the only one! I was in love during the Sugar years.

  • That guy was awesome. I loved the expressions on his face, like he was really touched by the words...
