Bob Mould is simply a genius...his music, from the early Husker Du and Sugar days,
through his solo work, he never fails to hit the emotional notes in his songs. Saw and met him in NYC years ago, signed an autograph, and I told him he was the Jerry Garcia of alt music, and he smiled at that lol.
Check him out, and see him live, you won't be Disappointed. Rock on BOB!!
@yamon98 Personally, I love 'em both as musicians, songwriters, and philosophers of the human condition. Keep in mind that it was Bob who marvelled at his copy of "Happy Jack" when he was a kid.
To Jon Groat: Why does Bob sound like he's at the bottom of a well? This amazing song from this amazing artist deserves amazing mixing. I hoped that Newsweek could have afforded a better mix, but apparently I was wrong...
hows the chord go at 1:44 and 2:40, (it's played throughout the song). I hate it when guitar players play chords like that that you can't tell what they are from looking at them cuz when they play them it looks like their fingers are all lined up in a row on the same string. :(
Bob soothes. That's it. He's always been an honest songwriter, and ultimately, that's why he is so great (IMHO). Be it his rage, or as in this song, his compassion, he let's you know where he is, and ideally where you are, no tricks, no bs, just pure simple emotion. Damn...
How true! How true! If I had one superpower to do good with I wish I had the ability to allow people to see themselves for how they really are perceived! I think most women would be shocked to find out they aren't the "angel" they think they are but instead are actually "poison!". Their whole world falls apart around them but it's everybodys fault but theirs and they are pissed because their man didn't save them. When the black cloud always follows you its time to look in the mirror. Go Bob!
Bob - I LOVE this song. It really resonated with me and a past relationship. In fact, your "If I can't change your mind" actually helped me get out of that effed up relationship you were singing about! These two songs are "Killing me softly" moments for me!! lol But seriously, thanks for what you do! Big bear hugs!
To dickship2312. If you are calling Bob Mould a jackoff then I'm sorry to say that you are a lowlife nobody who is, was, and always will be a nobody with no talent or legacy to leave behind. People like you make me want to regurgitate. Go jack yourself off, but I'm sure it's already in your hand. May you choke on your load as you swallow your endeavor. You are a toilet paper ass wipe. That's your legacy and it's definitely a royal flusher. But a crude person like you has an outhouse. Right?
ah man, bob mould got old. i remember him as a young angry man in husker du. now he looks like a pensioner wearing a funny joke disguise face thing, complete with plastic nose and humerous glasses.

@schmittelt fair enough. just sounded lacking in compassion. the net/utoob often gets lost in the fact that's there's no intonation or body language. and, I guess, having followed Mr Mould's entire career and knowing a fair bit about his personal life i'm most likely defensive of him. no offence.

@Joe1039 Thanks - it still sounds like I am missing this somehow. Maybe it's the jangly effects that throwing off my ear, but it still sounds off... On the recording he has a synth going over it with higher notes as well - ??
On the recording I'm hearing at least 3 guitars so it could be pretty much anything. I don't hear a keyboard until the bridge and it's an organ playing block chords.
