Cecilia Bartoli is known for her insane coloratura--the "showstoppers." But I think her voice is really great in more controlled, slow pieces, as well.

I don't always love Bartoli but what she does well she does REALLY well. This is such a moving rendition of this piece.

Beautiful as this is, and Barbara Bonnney's, and Lucia Popp's, for true sublimity you'll have to list to someone of the angels singing this part of the Requiem, Victoria de los Angeles, that is. It's on an old Angel recording of the complete work, Cluytens conducting. She might not have the most crystalline purity of some others, but expressively and qualitatively, she rules.
