I understand that Michigan won this game, but whats honestly the point in naming the video "Michigan vs. Michigan State 2004 highlights" When all your bascially showing is ALL Michigan plays and NO Michigan State plays.
I love how U of M fans conveniently forget that until Drew Stanton got hurt in this game, MSU was owning U of M. After he got hurt, MSU couldn't hold the ball, letting Edwards make all those plays. If MSU could've eaten more time and piled on a bit, things would have finished differently.
@billybgame I'll be sure to call the NCAA and have them add an asterisk to that game for extenuating circumstances. And while I'm at it, I'll have them add one to the '84 UM/MSU game as well because Michigan would obviously had won that game if Jim Harbaugh hadn't broken his arm.

With all due respect to my fellow MSU fans who say this was a "good game," it was and it wasn't. It was a good game in the sense that it went into 3 overtimes and accordingly had "all of the elements." But it was NOT a good game in that it got into overtime in the first place because of a CLASSIC MSU CHOKE JOB. UM made some nice plays at the end and I give them credit for that. But this opportunity was only presented because MSU was simply sitting on the lead and praying by then.
16-23 for 175 yards and 1 TD with no pics. Unlike the Mimai game, Threet was hitting his downfield throws with consistency. Tate Forcier and Shavodrick beaver might not have a job to compete ver in 2009 if Threet keeps on playing like that
Mathews couldn't quite corral in that pass. i tought it was a fiar call. but man, that was a terrific throw by threet. The DB was all over Mathews, and Threet ahd litle room to make that throw.
Personally I thought it was a catch, but I guess it's irrelevant now. I'm not one for making excuses, but UM really did have a lot of chances to cut it closer, but they screwed themselves.

Jaren Hayaes was the cornerback defending Edwards. Hayes was Michigan States top tailnback in 2003, but he was a total bust as a cornerback. Of course, ALL of MSU's cornerbacks are horrible. Why Braylon Edwards was not invited to New York for at least a heisman trophy candidacy is beyond me. I agree that he shouldn't have won, but his season merited at least an invite.

Exactly. I hate when people say that the Big House is so quiet. I was watching the Louisville @ WVU game this past season, and the stadium was dead silent because the Mountaineers weren't winning by enough. Michigan fans by and large care about their team. Sure, there are a lot of sorority girls at the games who leave early, but they're in the minority.
Michigan has beaten MSU 6 straight times in the sport that is far more important (football), where as the series in basketball is dead-even over the last four games.
I go to MSU, but I have to give U of M props on this one. Though this was partially a typical Spartan collapse, this game was WON by U of M (as opposed to the ND game last year where we LOST it through turnovers). Braylon Edwards was one bad ass wideout. And I love the play-by-play guy.

Drew Stanton was fully healthy in 2005 and 2006, and Michigan won anyways. So much for your argument that Stantons injury made the difference in 2004.

have you seen SI's latest college football rankings? They don't even think that u-m is going to a bowl game. in the ranks, U-m is 54 and MI State is 38.
They also have ILLINOIS finishing third in the big 10, so they may be crazy. and can't be trusted.

He would have been invited if Michigan beat Ohio State in the season finale to finish 10-1. I think the loss to Ohio State is what cost Edwards a trip to New York. Not to mention, the Heismen field in 2004 was stacked with guys like Matt leinert, Reggie Bush, Adrian Peterson, Jason White, and Alex Smith.

Exactly. I hate when people say that the Big House is so quiet. I was watching the Louisville @ WVU game this past season, and the stadium was dead silent because the Mountaineers weren't winning by enough. Michigan fans by and large care about their team. Sure, there are a lot of sorority girls at the games who leave early, but they're in the minority.

I go to MSU, but I have to give U of M props on this one. Though this was partially a typical Spartan collapse, this game was WON by U of M (as opposed to the ND game last year where we LOST it through turnovers). Braylon Edwards was one bad ass wideout. And I love the play-by-play guy.

Drew Stanton was fully healthy in 2005 and 2006, and Michigan won anyways. So much for your argument that Stantons injury made the difference in 2004.
If you want to blame one player for MSU's loss in 2004, blame Jaren Hayes, who was Braylons bitch in this game. John L was a fool for moving Hayes from tailback to cornerback. Hayes was a actually a pretty good tailback.
