back then when playstation and N64 were most popular, i was still playing these kinds of games.. cuz the new consoles are too expensive!.. now I'm kinda glad that i was able to play these classic games and feel the nostalgia even if I'm just 21.. games like super mario 3 and mega man 3 made me a better gamer.. while games like suikoden 1 and 2 on the next batch of consoles made me a better person?.. I dunno about games now though..
@newsonictheheadgehog Protoman got hacked into two pieces by King in Megaman and Bass, and was positively wrecked by Wily's machine at the end of MM8. I wholeheartedly share your love for Protoman, but I'm afraid that the characters in X are just too much. (I personally vote Zero)
I only lament that I wasn't old enough to truly enjoy series like Megaman when they were in their prime. My nostalgia-gasming basically starts at Pokemon and continues up through the end of the Battle Network series, hitting some things in between.

Because I first heard it in Megaman, and I didn't know that it was an entire song. for some reason i can see there being chapters in megaman 11 and one of them is called a hero's sacrifice where megaman is about to be killed by doctor wily from a huge power shot from his 11th machine and just as wily is firing the shot protoman pushes megaman out of the way and proto man takes the shot and the proto whistle starts to play as protoman says some final words to megaman
Guys if your wondering how Megaman dies, remember: they're still working on that timeline. They are still releasing the original storlyine Megaman games (Megaman 10 came out last year).
So there is still room to see how Megaman actually dies
@OpelDiego450 Don't forget RUSH! when they changed his name to MEGAman, I thought, "what's with all of these other names relating to rock?" then, I saw the Japanese name for him. what a Eureka moment!
@Geno11116 His name is a reference to the music genre, it fits his character extremely well becuase he's a little depressing, always there to save Megaman ( or Rock, another genre ) but never being credited, wandering around alone, it's sad, he ran away from his life.
@Blarggle How so? Color scheme and role are the same arent they? Im not talking like Zero is Protoman's upgrade within the MM universe, but Zero was made based on Protoman for the X series.
Protoman was first, then Light made Megaman. Wily became fed up and created Bass based on Megaman using the metal Bassnium. After Bass loses and leaves Wily, Wily creates his own robot again. This time using Zeronium. Megaman is powerless against Zero and urges Light to upgrade him after his defeat. Thus came X. So technically, they all came from Protoman.
Creation wise, Capcom made Zero as a substitute for Protoman.

For the rest: Games. Ive played Megaman 1-8. Sadly ive only beaten 3,4,5,6, and 7. I believe those were the ones. I also played both Power Battle Arcade games. The second of which shows you that Wily made Zero using Zeronium.
@StreetMauler Sorry but half yout facts are wrong. Zero was created by Wily as a Super Robot with the purpose of eliminating Megaman ( because Bass was rebelious and didnt want to take orders from Wily, nor he could defeat Megaman ), thus leading him to world domination. But Zero was never activated until 21XX, when reploids were already developed after Xs structure. X wasnt an upgrade to Megaman, he is a whole different robot, created to think and take his own decisions...
@StreetMauler X also wasnt activated until 21XX. Dr Light thought that X was very advanced for the time, and he knew that the fact of him being able to take his own decisions could put the world in danger if he became unstable and/or mischievous, so he sealed him in a capsule that would diagnose him for the next 32 years ( or so, dont really remember how many years they were ). But Light's end was close, so he died before he could diagnose X completely...
@xBlackxZerox Youre right, i got my lines crossed on that one. Wily had intended to use Zero to take care of Mega Man, but did not use him. X was made after Mega Man. I had to search back far into my child hood on that one. Thats probably why i screwed it up. Thanks for the correction. Either way, they all came from Protoman haha.
@StreetMauler I know dude. Its a complicated storyline due to many series and a lot of gaps, so it tends to be a mess to explain. Just a few things more: X was actually an original design, he wasnt based in Megaman, because Dr. Light wanted to create a robot able to think by himself and make his own decisions, and Bass, which was made by Bassinium ( which you clearly stated ), but he was supposed to be stronger than Megaman, so Wily used his own design.
@xBlackxZerox I respect ultra mega geeks. Wily used his own design which was based on the data he gathered from Mega Man, right? Zero was made using a future tech he found during his time travel. Light though X dangerous and sealed him, only because he did not think he could finish him within his own life time.
@StreetMauler Actually I rechecked and sorry I was also wrong with Bass' origin ( even ultra mega geeks forget sometimes :P ) You were right, Bass was made after Wily's research on Megaman's design, in which he accidentally also discovered a new type of energy, Bassnium, which was the most advanced type of energy on Earth at the time, thus leading to Bass' creation...

But he died before the process ended, so X remained unactive until 21XX when he was activated by Dr. Cain ( he overslept a bit lol )

Actually, Light does call him Megaman X in X2 when you find his capsule: "Mega Man X, enter this capsule." And at the end of the Crystal Snail capsule, he just calls him Mega Man. I don't know if it's a mistranslation in the English version or not, but the fact remains that he does in fact call him "Mega Man X". Look up any Let's Play of X2 to find it. I'm pretty sure he only calls him "X" in the other games though.

@Ryuuusa as much as that thoery would be epic (ie Zero killing off everyone) Capcom has actually come out and said that is not how the original cast met their end. I think that perhaps Megaman and Wily both died in some explosion after a big battle. Wily had already made Zero by this point though and then Light decided to make a new champion for the future. that or the government declared MM was too dangerous and had him put down, which could explian why Light sealed X away for 100 yrs.

'Zero', so named because he was the Prototype (Model #000) of the new Robot Masters Wily was going to make, but Zero was too uncontrollable and went ballistic, killing everyone, even Dr. Light.

Protoman -> Megaman -> Bass ->Zero->Megaman X
Protoman was first, then Light made Megaman. Wily became fed up and created Bass based on Megaman using the metal Bassnium. After Bass loses and leaves Wily, Wily creates his own robot again. This time using Zeronium. Megaman is powerless against Zero and urges Light to upgrade him after his defeat. Thus came X. So technically, they all came from Protoman.
Creation wise, Capcom made Zero as a substitute for Protoman.

For the rest: Games. Ive played Megaman 1-8. Sadly ive only beaten 3,4,5,6, and 7. I believe those were the ones. I also played both Power Battle Arcade games. The second of which shows you that Wily made Zero using Zeronium.

@StreetMauler Sorry but half yout facts are wrong. Zero was created by Wily as a Super Robot with the purpose of eliminating Megaman ( because Bass was rebelious and didnt want to take orders from Wily, nor he could defeat Megaman ), thus leading him to world domination. But Zero was never activated until 21XX, when reploids were already developed after Xs structure. X wasnt an upgrade to Megaman, he is a whole different robot, created to think and take his own decisions...

Dr Light thought that X was very advanced for the time, and he knew that the fact of him being able to take his own decisions could put the world in danger if he became unstable and/or mischievous, so he sealed him in a capsule that would diagnose him for the next 32 years ( or so, dont really remember how many years they were ). But Light's end was close, so he died before he could diagnose X completely...

@xBlackxZerox Youre right, i got my lines crossed on that one. Wily had intended to use Zero to take care of Mega Man, but did not use him. X was made after Mega Man. I had to search back far into my child hood on that one. Thats probably why i screwed it up. Thanks for the correction. Either way, they all came from Protoman haha.

@StreetMauler I know dude. Its a complicated storyline due to many series and a lot of gaps, so it tends to be a mess to explain. Just a few things more: X was actually an original design, he wasnt based in Megaman, because Dr. Light wanted to create a robot able to think by himself and make his own decisions, and Bass, which was made by Bassinium ( which you clearly stated ), but he was supposed to be stronger than Megaman, so Wily used his own design.

@xBlackxZerox I respect ultra mega geeks. Wily used his own design which was based on the data he gathered from Mega Man, right? Zero was made using a future tech he found during his time travel. Light though X dangerous and sealed him, only because he did not think he could finish him within his own life time.

@StreetMauler Actually I rechecked and sorry I was also wrong with Bass' origin ( even ultra mega geeks forget sometimes :P ) You were right, Bass was made after Wily's research on Megaman's design, in which he accidentally also discovered a new type of energy, Bassnium, which was the most advanced type of energy on Earth at the time, thus leading to Bass' creation...

@StreetMauler Maybe, Im not sure bout that =/. About X...Yeah, although Light maybe thought he would be alive by the time the capsule finished diagnosing X, thus being able to activate him manually. But he died before the process ended, so X remained unactive until 21XX when he was activated by Dr. Cain ( he overslept a bit lol )

@xBlackxZerox The thing is, theres no info about the time in between. What made me think Zero beat Mega is because there was something that said that Wily let Zero loose and he over powered Mega. The crappy thing is that they continue to make Mega Man games (original style) with no chronology about things like this.

@xBlackxZerox Well from what I read...it said somewhere on some megaman info thing ...that theres a high possibility that Megaman died sometime between the timeline of megaman and X.And Light had to recreate an entirely new robot ,much powerful than megaman.Yes ,he made X.But for X to fully be functional it would take 30 years and Light also passed away til that time in the capsule X was sealed.
Wonder if anyone noticed that X is never called "Megaman" in any of the X series

Actually, Light does call him Megaman X in X2 when you find his capsule: "Mega Man X, enter this capsule." And at the end of the Crystal Snail capsule, he just calls him Mega Man. I don't know if it's a mistranslation in the English version or not, but the fact remains that he does in fact call him "Mega Man X". Look up any Let's Play of X2 to find it. I'm pretty sure he only calls him "X" in the other games though.

@xBlackxZerox would make sense to say that X was an entirely diffrent robot.Just that much more powerful than Megaman , but since he was created by Light ,it's more like Megaman is like a "FATHER" of X.But it did say somewhere that Megaman was infact "Dead" which is why he or the others dont exist in the X series.Who killed them nobody is sure...Could ve been Zero or it could ve been the crazy mavericks.not too sure...One thing sure is though
Megaman =/= X.they re two entirely diffrent robots

@Ryuuusa as much as that thoery would be epic (ie Zero killing off everyone) Capcom has actually come out and said that is not how the original cast met their end. I think that perhaps Megaman and Wily both died in some explosion after a big battle. Wily had already made Zero by this point though and then Light decided to make a new champion for the future. that or the government declared MM was too dangerous and had him put down, which could explian why Light sealed X away for 100 yrs.

@Ryuuusa In fact it was, indeed, Zero who killed all the original Robots... he was created by Dr. Wily, after he accidentally discovered the element Bassnium which he used to make Bass... much later, actually. 'Zero', so named because he was the Prototype (Model #000) of the new Robot Masters Wily was going to make, but Zero was too uncontrollable and went ballistic, killing everyone, even Dr. Light.

I read off of some real megaman sources that Wily created that name because Zero was created in order to destroy everything he came across.By this Wily would make the name zero,because thats going to be the total number of inhabitants alive after Zero was done killing everyone.Which is why he was named Zero.He was programmed to kill.

@Ryuuusa Here, WoG just doesn't make sense, though; He was made by Wily, no doubt there, and there is no question in my mind that Zero would have been able to just wipe the floor with anyone from the original Megaman characters. The intro for MMX4 seems to show the carnage from Zero wiping out Crimea's unit, instead of Light's creations, but there something missing; if Zero didn't kill them, what happened after he was created? Did he just pull a Protoman and say "Piss off!" to Wily, or what?
