I just wonder how long will this case last. If it's destroyed in about 20 years that's not good. I have an almost 20 years old PC that still works.

I think laptop cases all should be made of metal. It's not a cup, plate, not even a flash drive and phone. It's a thing that can serve you for ages.

Half the petroleum recourses?

Most likely much much more then that if you consider all the petroleum based chemical fertilizers and pesticides used to produce the corn, not to mention the petrol required for the shipping, processing, and manufacturing of both the corn and the corn plastic.
