The CB 500 is fine, esp if you put a simple gear lever on it, straight from the spline were the gear lever used to be. it should be good for over a tone then. ;)
@digitaltitan I think possibly you are thinking of the older cb500 Four. This is a cb500 twin from the mid 90s. Obviously single cylinder quad engines would be a better option but the budget wouldnt stretch that far at the time.
@hwbd yeah i have the old cb500 four on a fl350 frame it will run around a 100 mph but it will also lift the front wheels off the ground sounds like you need to ajust your carbs
hey its seems like that engine has no low end power.. try putting a bit bigger sproket on the rear axle.. it will give you some better acceleration and you wont have to slip the clutch as much to take off.. i did that with my kart and it helped alot!
classic cb500 motor with no tork on a go cart....switch to a raptor 660 or 700 motor for more tork but maybe not as much top speed...the tork would be better than the little extra speed
Nice, im trying to make a sand rail with a 1990 honda cbr600

The CB's and XS bike were touring bikes. First gear can go up to 50-60. Definitely no low end torque.
