Completely agree. Followed them since their Delaware days and just say them at the Blockley last weekend. I always preferred them as a 3 piece band, myself. He is such an amazing blues guitar player, but Rick Chertoff "popped' them out and they just weren't the same. But they still sound good today- it was a fantastic show.
Great stuff. Any chance of this returning? Hate to sound older but music today just doesn't have this feel. This era had so many great bands and songs.
What is the common denominator why great Philly bands didn't make the big time?
Rumblers, Hooters, Hazard, John Eddie, Bricklin, A's, Southside Johnny. And more I've missed, Lots of great music from this town that many others will not share in . Too bad for them. Frustrating as a Philly Music fan.
@TaconyBill. Me and Flamin Harry (remember him?) had a long discussion about this after one of his gigs a while back. It was all in the production, Rick Chertoff included. The demo tapes that these guys sent into MMR were raw and rough and ten times better than the final product, which Sony wanted to be more "polished" and mainstream. A damn shame if you ask me.

I like the version on the "Walkin' On The Water" LP with the piano better.
