Brianna did the only thing she knew how to do when it came to dealing with D. She layed on the guilt trip. Brianna didn't know anything about pain and suffering. All she knew about was the business that her father and brothers were in. The nice house and the fancy cars were a substitute for the mother role she was supposed to play. The person he was conflicted with the environment he came from. That was harder than any jail sentence. Brianna never understood that.

I really hated Brianna for talking D into taking the full 20 year bid while Stringer (escaped scott free) and Avon (jailed then released after he framed a CO by planting drugs in his car) pretty much got away unscathed. All D wanted was a chance at a new life and rightly felt betrayed by his uncle. Scenes like this one is why The Wire is such a compelling show to watch and for David Simon to not get a single Emmy for this show cheapens the award.
