Haha, funny watching old bowlers with their ancient equip. By the way, any league bowler that has knowledge about succeeding knows that speed isn't everything. Doing well in bowling comes from smooth, consistent releases, and the ability to adjust to varying lane conditions. A 15 mph league bowler will show up some guy trying to throw his arm out any day.
To repeat: velocity is key. The women here can't roll strikes because they can't get enough velocity on the ball--lack of strength. Buzz was a great bowler in his day, but here he is too old and can't get sufficient velocity on his ball. It happens to all of us, eventually... he should quit. These bowlers are great examples of what NOT to do in bowling. Great video.
@GlorifiedTruth Really? And how long have you been a PBA card holder? How many titles do you have? Care to show us on video, an example of your great knowledge and "velocity" of your bowling game?
@TheBrassHole - Believe me, in my league we know how to get things done. Some of these pro hotshots might show up to teach us a thing or two, but I have a feeling they'd be leaving at the end of the evening with their tails tucked between their legs. League bowling is REAL bowling; what these guys do is more of a show, like pro wrestling or roller derby. That's the way I see it, anyway.
@GlorifiedTruth I agree with you on that. Good point. When I was a kid I knew this man that would wait after the show, then bowl the champion for the purse. That is un heard of now days and would not happen. It DID HAPPEN, and he would take their winnings more than a few times.
These pros would do a lot better if they could manage to throw straight. Throwing hooks is a parlor trick, and it robs your shot of velocity. Straight on at maximum velocity--that's the trick.
Yes, this is a GREAT post, but gawd, those pins look all beat-up when the camera's up close. Or is the lighting affecting the pins' looks? You think someone would have shiny-new pins for a TV event.
And it sounds like the PBP man should be renamed "Screamin' Jay" Randolph. lol!
How old is this show?

@GlorifiedTruth The pros would out-average you hacks by at least 25 pins on a house shot. League bowling is a joke. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

New pins are not as good for scoring as older pins are. The bottoms of older pins are rounded, so a pin that rocks is more likely to fall.

I met Buzz Fazio when he made a trip here in England in the early 60's. He had the smoothest 4 step approach ever !
