The spitting and fucking scences were talk of the week at school the next day. My parents watching the show on TV were shocked but luckily they didn't force me to tear the Billy Idol posters off my wall. Still today a lot of people in Germany remember this scene: "Do you remember Billy Idol's scandalous gig at Thommy's Pop Show? YEAH, fucking great!!!" Thanks to youtube the rest of the world can be witness now. Otherwise it would have been rotten forever in some TV archive.

Saw exactly THIS performance live in Tommy's Popshow as a child (I was 8 y.o. in 1984), and this was so memorable seeing him spit on himself for this nasty child that I was, I became an instant Billy Idol-fan right away. During the last 25 years I was like "I remember Billy Idol spitting on his face and then wiping it all over it".. today this was the first time I saw it since back then, and LOL it wasn't as offensive as I remembered it, not even close.. a childhood's memory is not to be trusted
