  • I love this song! its so lovely and you play the piano really well!

  • Nice song. Ashame my teacher helped me picked the songs. :(

  • I think it's too slow. I dont like it.

    But it's great to play.

  • my teacher said she'll kill me if i pick this... lol

    i prefer mozzie anyway

  • @TardisGirl04 Do this its worthwhile.

I'm on grade 3 now and i chose this song for grade 2 its amazing!

    I've never regretted it

  • Thanks for posting this, its one of the hardest pieces in the book!

  • Hey is your piano more sustinato or were you just holding the pedal, I did this piece last year great piece

  • The sheet music says it's a lot faster than this... but this is how it's ment to be played

  • This is Take Me 1 month to learn then later i getting more Better !

  • i love this piece so much but the left hand part is so hard im sitting in front of my keyboard playin it and getting so angry because i cant get it

  • @GeorgeSampsonroks Do hands seperately and for the left hand always let go of the middle note of three notes and when you play the 4th note of the bar let go of the bottom left hand note then when you join together try not to change how you play and do it a bar at a time

  • @rajauk1 thanks for that my exam is a week on tuesday and i am so nervous about it

  • @rajauk1 thanks raja

  • My piano teacher is horrible. He wouldn't let me play this. So Im teaching myself instead of practising the right pieces. --

  • i have the same book and im getting the hang of it. the prob is i dont look at the book when i play it. i play worse when i look on the book and i play better without lookin. lol. good on that..

  • I do that too, I get confused sometimes by looking at the book and without i don't make any mistake somehow? LOL. Anyway my Tutor said the more you look at your piece that you are playing you get more marks in the exam? IDK about that but i never though lol. I got 139 score btw =)

  • I'm doing this. Omg I can't get it :(

  • yes mate ... Eric Clapton

Got ma grade 2 a week tues :S

Got distinction for grade 1 but i hope this peice will get me through grade 2 wiv a merit or distinction....Any tips or anything..pls comment soon. :) tar

  • Eric Clapton?

  • im learning this song right now , this has really helped m as i know how to play this song now

  • @rosarawr -- yes and no. It is a complex rhythm, but there are a couple of things that help a lot. First, there is a pretty much constant pulse running through the whole piece, the difficulty lying in piecing the different sections together. Secondly, there are a lot of repeating patterns. If you can get the hang of how they fit together, you can kind of get into the head of the composer. That helped me a lot! Best of luck with it, and wish me luck!

  • do you have a music sheet for this song?

  • its on the ABRSM grade 2 2009-10 book

  • if you have listen to the cd on wonderful tonight well dont copy it even if your teacher tells you my teacher said that the cd is just a copy and the piano teacher tells you how to play it properly with the dynamics

  • I'm doing this in my exam in a couple of weeks, is it just me or is the rythm really complex? :S and thankyou this really helped :)

  • The rhythm is quite simple. Just count or try using a metronome.

  • its such a lovely song :) im listening to it and my rabbits are lying down falling asleep :) ................. i find it hard to play tho

  • @hbpencil08 My Rabbits also lied down beside my piano while I was playing this song..!!

  • i have just started practising this piece i love it, and the best thing is that me nd my dad do a duet on the piano ( its hard and wierd but its fun )

  • I can play this song : ), it's such a good song I think you should do this piece. It's hard at first and easy after just like others......

  • I want my piano teacher to choose this. I heard my teacher play it 2 weeks ago and I think the is better then Mozzie

  • my piano didnt let me chose i had 2 go for allegro grazioso the first snowdrop and mozzie

  • i picked this :P my friend waz so happy coz she chose it to XD

  • Everyone doing grade 2 piano piece should pick this... Its really a wonderful nice piece... (:

  • this piece would suit only adult students because young ones probably have never heard it before and don't have a feel for it - its an old Eric Clapton classic....are there any children or teenagers doing this one?

  • im doing this one and im 15

and i love eric clapton :)

  • My friend who's doing grade 2. She's fifteen. My couin who's ten.

  • i 15 and i doing this one

  • how age discriminating is ur comment?

nearly everyone is doing this piece, aswell as me.

  • im a child and im doing this one, i love eric claptop hes well good =)

  • Ditto ... I certaintly wasn't around during Clapton's "Era" for want of a better term, but in my opinion, anyone interested in good music must have come across him :P

  • I'm doing Rondo, Mazurka and Wonderful Tonight... Learning it now!

  • I really like this piece! I'm doing A:1, B:1 and this... (Not sure whether to choose B:1 or not.) Thanks for uploading!

  • wow your amazing! im doing A:1 B:1 C:2

Cant wait ! can you post videos of all the grade pieces so i can get a head start? thx

  • they change every year few years

  • wow thats really good - but i have decided to do C:2 :):)

  • Thanks a ton for the vid, I'm definitely going to do this song for C

  • i dont know which one 2 pick?!

    C:1 or C:2???

i can play most of both and i find them equally as easy as eachother! :S

  • niceeeeeeee =D

  • i can play this now :) with both hands and i love it cause it sounds so pretty and really nice :)

  • i doing this in my exam it sounds so pretty x.x

  • i done my exam !:) sadly i don't have to play this again but i will keep playing it cuz i love this song!:)

  • i am doing this 4 my exam

  • love this piece so much!! i play it a tad faster, but i guess thats coz i don't know the lyrics. Are you using a pedal on the beginning and end parts? it sounds so mystical...

  • i am doing wonderful tonight for my piece but i can only play each hand seperatly at the moment :(

  • I can play this now!!! :D

it not even that hard to be honest

  • I can finally play this perfectly which is a relief, now I just got to sort out the end of gypsy dance and struggle at sight reading practice.

  • i originally chose this one but the left hand was too hard so im on Mozzie now

  • Dang....Tezcher tried this piece on me for the first time but it really annoys me because I have to keep changing my fingerings in the left hand every 2 seconds!!!! Sux!!!

  • Im doing this one, I think it's probly the best one in the abrsm book!!! xx

  • Okay, I chose to do Wonderful tonight, After a while it was really easy, why need to remember to do the hold downs, In secret I am learning Mozzie but outside the lessons.

At first it was really hard, I had to do the left piece in parts, I might upload a video of me playing it one day.

  • this a wonderful piece I am learning that 4 grade 2 and I love it :D:)

  • AMAZING WELL DONE!!!! :L

  • I learning this for grade 2 and i can finally play it :D

it not that hard after you practice it xD

  • that's great- the piano sounds gorgeous.

I'm playing this too, but I play it faster as i think it drags on, and you can really get the feel of the piece. I don't find the left hand that confusin, but i practised it a lot.

  • Yet again.....I agree with cindyccc1.....ummm....its a good song..buutt.......................its only a simplified version........but who am i to say that..im not even at grade 2 yet but i can play it.......weird

  • i hate doing the left hand, its really annoying to get it right

  • Im leaning this n mozzie :D

  • question: how can you you two songs from one set ? just wondering coz i love mozzie and cudnt decide between this and mozzie

  • I know I have the same problem but no you can only choose 1. My piano teacher said i can still learn both of them lol

  • Well in a exam the programme can depend whether it is a good or not depending on the tempo. The normal tempo programme is firstly a fast tempo, then slow then fast.

In my opinion Wonderful Tonight is a really good piece to play, but i recomend that you play Mozzie because its kinda got a fast tempo and its very jazzy which is a good way to finish your examination on the pieces.

Hope this helps, but if you get confused, don't be embarrased to ask, I'll try and help.

  • Do you have any tips on the exam for sight reading? This is my first exam and I'm really nervous. I'm trying to get in grade 3. Thanks! :)

  • cheers steve but ive already picked wonderful tonight guess cant go back now ah well teacher said i can learn it anway so you kno..

and .. sight reading is also my weakest point what i do is do piano exercises from this book called a dozen a day i donnt know how but it helps me also just practicing from the sight reading book until you get it

  • check key signature where your hand starts and for any dynamics coming up good luck

  • this song sounded easy until i actually tried to learn it lol. nearly there though ...hopefully

  • im not doing Grade 2 but this tune is lovely :)

  • I am attempting to learn this - it's not going too well though. I just get so muddled up with the left hand.

  • me too..annoying isnt it

  • lol k thx

  • its not as hard as u seen.. after a few more practices you'll get it..

i learn almost my whole book except for whistling tune and gypsy dance cause they sound ... weird to my ears..

dont really like mazurka so didnt bother to look at it

  • nice ive just started learning this song but the left hand makes it confusin putting both habds together. does anyone have any tips?

    thx

    by the way great playing

  • i can play both mozzie is easier to learn but i much prefer mozzie to this song so i would play mozzie

  • Wonderful tonight is difficult!

  • Thanks, I am deciding which song I want to do for Grade 2, and I'm in love with this song!!

But Mozzie is also good- Which is easier to learn?

  • i think mozzie is easier, i have learnt them both XD

  • Stop cheating learn both he he lol :@}

I'm nearly on grade 2 aswell

  • i think that wonderful tonight is a lot harder cuz i'm also learning it. the left hand gets confusing, so my teacher said if i can get the left hand down, we can play that one. I love wonderful tonight a lot. mozzie is good too tho.

  • My teacher a well known ex-concert pianist always says get the right hand correct first befor you attempt the left hand. Its the melody that "usually" carries the song. If you think about a Bass Guitarist, the do not do very much, they accompany the tune and look silly of course of stage LO :@}

  • Wow yet again I agree with you wierd........
