It may owe its name to the fact that it was played 'on the knee' - Greek 'epi gonu', or maybe because its inventor was someone named Epigonus.
"Axion Estin os alithos makarizein se tin Theotokon..." is a byzantine hymn of the Greek Orthodox Church. Thus, it has nothing to do with the poen "Axion Esti" by Odysseas Elytis (neither with Indian Folk music, of course).

δεν νομίζω ο αγαπημένος nacho να έχει μπερδέψει την ινδία με την ελλάδα γιατί το κομμάτι έχει και ινδικά στοιχεία.....

Το "Άξιον εστίν ως αληθώς μακαρίζειν σε την Θεοτόκον" δεν εχει καμια σχεση με τον Ελυτη. Ειναι εκκλησιαστικος υμνος. btw, οντως πολυ καλο τραγουδι.
